I think it’s more an American thing.....I don’t think they like to think of him as maybe a top 3 greatest heavyweights but head to head at there best not many could beat him....his size , skill , reach and technical ability makes it very difficult.
no one ever mentions that Louis was knocked out by lesser men and also struggled on many occasion and was even dropped by Tony Galento , Ali given nightmare by Norton , taken the distance by Doug jones , almost knocked out by Henry cooper , Holmes was lucky the ref never stopped him against snipes and shavers and was given hard fights by Witherspoon , Holmes was run ragged by Mike weaver and suffered an unofficial knockdown and hurt bad on 2 occasions and that was Holmes in his prime at 29 and there is no way in IMO he beats a prime Lennox Lewis.

Its laughable really, all you old timers in here. Most of you put Lewis in the top 10 ATG at heavbyweight, but everyone of you votes against him in head to head against anyone decent at heavyweight.

Tyson, Holy, Spinks, Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Liston, Louis, Marciano, Dempsey, Holmes, rid**** bowe, joe walcott, jack johnson, anyone else you care to think of. Anytime Lewis goes up against one of these guys all i see is "lewis was overrated" "lewis was glassed jawed"

He was the first of the really big heavyweights! Emmanuel Stewart taught him how to use his height and that jack hammer jab. The interesting fight is Ali with his reach and speed who could jab with him. I don't know if Ali wins because he was very hittable and nobody survives that Lewis right hand. I just don't see someone that weighed 212 in his prime beating a very skilled 250lbs Lewis. Lewis knocks the rest out though. Marciano???? 5'9, 195lbs?????? What are people thinking???

Agree with most of this. Maybe not a KO of all, but a good shot at a TKO. He'd KO guys that would go straight at him, like a Liston or Frazier. Some of the rest I could see him stopping late, like Marciano, Louis, Ali. Others I could see him going the distance with, like Holmes, Norton. With his reach, he'd have a good shot to beat them in a UD though. Dempsey could beat him with his relentless attack though. Foreman he'd have to move around to outbox to a decision, like Morrison. I could see him doing it, if someone like Morrison could. He shouldn't slug it out as much with him, like Holyfield did, unless he really has him hurt.
