See? That's the problem. everyone equates the title to a belt. The belt doesn't make a champion nor a championship.

I did now that you mentioned it and I went back.

I don't think so tho'. In this day and age it's much easier to win a belt and be called a champ. There is what? 4-5 ABC titles? It's much easier to win a belt now than it was to win the title back in Ali's time.

Point is PEOPLE GIVE JOHNSON CREDIT FOR BEATING JEFFRIES (who was otherwise undefeated in his career.) But Tyson nuthuggers don't give Holyfield any credit at all.

Well said. Tyson had alot left, and he came into that fight prepared. He started off good. Holyfield was just on another level that night.

What i mean Hawkins is being the recognised champ. For instance, i dnt even know the holder of some of the lesser of the ABC belts, but Vitali wont go down as a lineal champ yet cose he did beat lewis. So he has to Win the majority of the belts to become the recognised champ, otherwise he wont go down in history.

Well, I'm not sure Tyson was every considered the champion after prison. Especially when he dropped the WBC title to fight Seldon. The whole point in fighting Holyfield was to define the champion.
