Big George did him in as evidenced by his fights after. Pretty obvious he weren't all there vs Wepner for starters
Yeah, but that could of been evidence of other stuff as well.

It is a common misnomer to refer to Dementia Pugilistic as Parkinson's Disease but that it too general a statement.

Parkinsonism is a series of commonly recognizable symptoms caused by a decease in the brain's production of dopamine.

There are multiple causes for this failure with head trauma being only one of them.

In a sense Parkinson's Disease isn't a disease in itself but is a series of symptoms that occurs when the brain stops producing dopamine. There are several causes for this to occur, being repeatedly punched in the head is one of the most common.

It seems over the past few decades the media in trying to be PC and avoid the term 'punch drunk' altogether (with dementia pugilistica really just being a fancy Latin way of saying punch drunk) they started referring to fighters as having the more polite sounding Parkinson's Disease. But that generalization only denotes certain symptoms and doesn't address the cause.

Also in this country we like to call everything a disease this way there is no need to place blame, or accept responsibility. It's the diseases fault. You never tell a Mom her teenager is an as shole, you instead say he is ADA (and here's some pills, it's not your fault it's a disease.)

And finally since there really isn't any particular disease the government can't give it to him. That is such a ****** statement, right up there with this latest pedophilia conspiracy.

From a webpage; complete story in link below.

      Dementia Pugilistica Symptoms

Punch-drunk syndrome symptoms mimic other brain disorders such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease. With dementia pugilistica, the behavioral and cognitive issues usually present eight to 10 years after the initial injury.
