It took SRR literally 60 rounds of fighting to finally show a one round dominance over (a ring worn) LaMotta; I don't see LaMotta in Monzon's league.

Anyway check out this wonderful Greb/Walker story, from a biography on A. Rothstein. Classic Greb!

(Please excuse their typo: 14 rounds ???)

    Thbaks for sharing that man!

I think RObinson's hype as a Welterweight is largely owed to that fact that for most of his Welterweight career he was really a Middleweight cutting to 147. He probably was as spectaular a finisher as the reports indicate. But he was also being placed against guys who were there for virually no other reason than to be knocked out.

You're right, when LaMotta hit his stride, Ray struggled mightily with him. I don't completely discount the first and final fights, but they don't carry as much weight with me as they do with others.

Still, Robinson was a fistic marvel. He was a much better finisher than Monzon, and more versatile.

I simply can;t imagine Monzon beating the Robinson of the Maxim fight. Monzon's M.O. just wouldn't work on Robby.

Question would be with Monzon’s physical strength and power could Walker get in close consistently. Loughran, whom my father knew, was a weak puncher and not very physical nor physically strong. Monzon in contrast was a very strong middleweight champion with ko power in either fist especially his right. Walker like Valdez won’t be able to get inside effectively. A comparison vs Loughran is very invalid.

YOU stated that Monzon did not “clearly” win over Valdez. This is false. Please show all the scorecards from that time that gave the bout to Valdez. If it was not a clear win that you must be able to show some scorecards from that time that gave Valdez the nod? If not once again you are talking out of your ass and making things up as you go. Liar or too lazy to study the history?

        Wait!

        Let me get this straight...

you're actually suggesting that a Middleweight is stronger than a guy who proved himself at Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight!?!?!?

Do you also consider Monzon to be stronger than Sharkey, whom Walker fought to a draw?

Maybe, don't talk so much and people won't realize just how r3tard3d you are?

No. Not used to talking with an illiterate. When Walker fought Loughran it was for the light heavyweight championship of the world. Walker scaled 165 pounds to Loughran 173.

A Walker vs Monzon bout would be fought at middleweight. In Monzon Walker would be fighting one of boxing’s strongest middleweights and a hellacious puncher.

Loughran at any weight could not punch and lacked Monzon’s physicality.

Another Walker tidbit...In the early 70’s Walker was found unconscious laying in the gutter by Police in the next town from where I live today. A decade later he passed away in a local hospital. In between he lived in several nursing homes, one within 5 miles from where I currently reside, after contracting Parkinson disease.

You really think Monzon didn't enter the ring weighing 165 - or MORE?

If you had friends, you'd see they're into Bowling, not Boxing. Go make some friends.

That’s not the question. Monzon and Walker had they fought would be for the middleweight championship not the light heavyweight championship as you tried to use as an example. Study up. You are wrong nearly 100% of the time because you guess.
