I know mate ...it’s ridiculous some people on here.
Look I’m a big fan of joe Louis and Ali but a guy trying to downplay a heavyweight who head to head would do very well against the greatest heavyweights of all time is either ignorant or just dislikes that fighter to the point of disrespect.
I Am big fan of Lewis and he beat everybody there was around from 1991 to 2003 and that is a reign that equals Louis or Ali but people just do not like to accept it.

Lewis only succeeded when he was confident his opponent was DOA.

He was his generation's Ken Norton: physically imposing and technically skilled, but ultimately his success rested upon his own confidence in his ability to endure what his opponent might bring to the fight.

Vitali nearly upset him despite still being several years out from his best.

Steward himself stated Wlad was better than Lewis. He made better use of the jab, had suffocating clinch work, and his cross was a bazooka that made Lewis' look like a pea-shooter. Most importantly, he could pick himself up off canvas and get back into the fight.

Wilder is EXACTLY the type of fighter to make Lewis sh it himself. It's Johansson-Machen all over again. Lewis suddenly isn't the bigger, harder hitting fighter. If Holyfield and Mercer could back him up, Wilder kills him.

Fury. Well if you think Lewis has any chance against Fury kill yourself. Now. Well, what are you waiting for!?!?

      • Lewis was a great fighter. I rate him top five ATG. His only issue was being koed by single blows twice. Conversely he absolutely dominated the rematches with the ko of Rachman a thing of beauty that exemplifies his greatness. Ali, Holmes and Louis beat him. Foreman could knock him out as he had unimaginable power. Lewis would be the favorite over all others.

        • Wilder does not know how to fight. Just like you know nothing of boxing.

            Hahahaha!

Like he did Schmeling? Like he did the Baer brothers? Like he did Jim Braddock? Like he did Farr and Godoy!? Like Simon!? None of those guys went out in 3 rounds.

Hell, Billy Conn was 23 years old 170 pounds, and not only did he last 3 rounds, he made it to the 13th! His downfall? Going in for the kill when he had Joe Louis HURT!

Does sh it literally pour from your mouth IRL? Or is this just an act you do for us here?

You really wanna tell us that Louis stops Wlad?

I'm thinking that was just a typo. Wlad stops Louis in 3.

Basically, I bent you over and fu cked you in the ass, but then, through your tears, you say "haha, Haha, joke's on you! Now you have to clean my sh it off your ****."

Lewis never faced a live opponent. Conflating his opponents with the fighters they were at their best makes him look damn impressive, but anyone honest and willing to apply the lightest of scrutiny sees him for what he was.

You must rank Cooney pretty high, too: lyle, Norton and Young, all in less than 5 full rounds.

And i'm sure Camacho sits atop your P4P List: Duran, Leonard, Rosario. Does anyone have a better resume than that?

I get it. Life's been hard on you. This is supposed to be safe space for you to sulk with other losers (Houdini), but some of us aren't losers. Some of us come here to have honest meaningful discussions. Take your perverse hero-worship elsewhere if you can't handle it.

              • Louis knocked both Schmeling and Buddy Baer out in a single round.

                Study up.

look you’ve been told , we know what people think of your knowledge and someone who rates Lewis as a top 5 heavyweight shows respect and understanding of the sport...you on the other don’t know Jack **** and you bringing wilder in to a discussion you’ve lost what ever credibility you had left lol

your not making sense and your speaking all cuckoo......Lewis reigned top of the division more or less through out the 90’s and early 2000’s and beat every fighter he ever faced in the ring and he was avoided by Tyson and bowe who as I said dropped his belt in the bin rather agree to fight Lewis.
Camacho ? Tyson is younger than Lennox and he was on a 6 fight winning streak when he fought Lewis ...leonard had been retired for over 6 years and was 41 years of age when facing Camacho lol.....as what Houdini said study up
Please do not enter the realm of the 80’s and especially the 4 kings with me because I will take your pants down and spank some knowledge In to you.....now go play with your toys

Why not judge each fighter based just on his own career, do that and it's a no brainer, it's Joe Louis.

He held the title the longest (with help from a world war no doubt) he had the most defenses, he left no questions unanswered, he carried the title with distinction; he mastered the martial art, he was exiting to watch, he was loved . . . and he won a lot (66-3-0)

You can't find a better HW Championship tenure. He, when compared across the board, had the "greatest" career.

Even when it came time for him to embarrass himself by staying around too long, he barely did. Neither of his loses to Marciano or Charles were embarrassing.

Maybe it's not the definition of "the greatest" you want, but it is one of the definitions for being called the GOAT.

Is Tom Brady the GOAT? Many had better arms, some could read a defense better, way too many had better wheels under them, and others were better leaders, but he had the best career. So they call him the GOAT.

                      In boxing that's Joe Louis.
                      - -Willie hisself couldn't say it any better...thanks
