Holyfield was actually a smaller fighter than both Liston and Louis. Holyfield was only about 190 in his mid 20's, while Louis at that age was well over 200 lbs. Louis was also in the 215lb range in his thirties, all without resistance training. Liston was always over 200lbs. in his entire career except for once, and in his prime he was 212.
Louis was about 200 in his prime; Liston was 215 when he fought Patterson so you do have a point there. But I honestly think Liston was not mentally strong enough for someone like Holyfield. He was a lot like Tyson - a world-beater when he was the bully/intimidator, and helpless when it didn't go down that way... ..however, I suppose his power would've always given him a chance.Comment

I consider Holyfield's heavyweight prime to be those years when he took on Bowe - he was around 215 for those fights and rock solid (whether it was drug-assisted was another matter).

He was 205 for Bowe I, 217 for Bowe II (a year later), 213 for Bowe III. Anyhow, Liston may have been a match sizewise for Holyfield, but mentally, I kinda doubt it...Comment

Anyways, size aside, both Liston and Louis hit waaaay harder than Holyfield, and Louis is probably faster, so I don't see how anyone can say that Holy could beat these guys.Comment
