    Evander Holyfield
    Joe Louis
    Sonny Liston
    Joe Frazier
    Jack Johnson (Hon mention)

And frankly, I don't even know if Ali belongs at the top. The modern heavies are just too big and strong for even Joe Louis. Sorry, but that's how it works out head-to-head.
Evander Holyfield could beat Joe Louis and Sonny Liston? He has little advantages over either fighter. And plus he has a tendency to brawl when hurt, and that would spell trouble for him againat all-time great finishers like Louis and Liston.

I honestly have trouble compiling a list based on opinions; but I suppose this list is as good as any.

Hey, Joe Louis is the better boxer, no question. But Holyfield was bigger and stronger than both Louis and Liston. He had a very tough chin, and a bully mentality (the best head in the game, if you know what I mean), and a huge heart. I don't think Liston or Louis could match up (sadly).

Holyfield was actually a smaller fighter than both Liston and Louis. Holyfield was only about 190 in his mid 20's, while Louis at that age was well over 200 lbs. Louis was also in the 215lb range in his thirties, all without resistance training. Liston was always over 200lbs. in his entire career except for once, and in his prime he was 212.

Plus, Holyfield was not a devastating puncher by any means. Liston definetely would be able to take his punches, and Louis probably could take tham as well.

In a head-to-head list, Marciano would not make the top ten.
