David Haye: record, next fight and profile →
Former two division world champion David Haye (26-2, 24KOs), who soon turns 35-years-old, is targeting every major world title that he can get his hands on. Inactive since 2012, when he knocked out Dereck Chisora in five around at West Ham's Upton Park on July 14th, Haye is looking to make a successful comeback after lengthy layoff like Muhammad Ali, George Foreman and Vitali Klitschko.
Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye says he is ready to make his return to boxing. The 34 year-old, who currently holds a professional record of 26-2, has not fought in three years after undergoing major shoulder surgery in 2013. However, 'The Hayemaker' now feels fit enough to return to the ring for the first time since defeating Dereck Chisora in 2012.
Wladimir Klitschko says he will make Tyson Fury a better person with the same 'therapy' he dealt fellow Brit David Haye. The world heavyweight champion was on the receiving end of some Fury verbals at the press conference to announce their October 24 showdown in Dusseldorf. Klitschko was told he had the charisma of a pair of his opponent's underpants and was boring, but refused to respond and instead believes Fury is going the same way as Haye did four years ago.
Antonio 'Magic Man' Tarver (31-6, 22 KOs) is preparing for his own assault at the heavyweight championship of the world as he is currently in training for an August 14 clash against Steve Cunningham. The Florida native hopes victory over his fellow veteran will lead to a title shot, perhaps against the winner of Wladimir Klitschko versus Tyson Fury. Nevertheless, Tarver believes that Fury will be another one of Klitschko's victims come October 24.
World heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko has compared Tyson Fury to David Haye and says the challenger 'has a big mouth.' The WBA, WBO, and IBF king faces Fury on October 24 in Dusseldorf, Germany and having comfortably outpointed Britain's Haye in 2011 seems unfazed by the prospect of facing the undefeated Mancunian, who at 6'9" has a three-inch height advantage. In an interview reported on ESPN, 39-year-old Klitschko said of his mandatory defence: "This fight with Fury is pretty much the same situation as it was with David Haye. Fury does have a big mouth and is more famous for that than his fighting.
Trainer Peter Fury has warned unified world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko that Tyson Fury will be in the shape of his life when the pair meet in Dusseldorf on October 24. The 39-year-old Ukrainian (64-3 53KOs) holds the WBO, WBA, IBF and IBO belts and has not lost since 2004, and was last in action in April when beating Bryant Jennings at Madison Square Garden via unanimous decision. Fury, 26, is the mandatory challenger for Klitschko's WBO belt and with an unbeaten record of 24-0 (18KOs) heading in to the clash, his uncle and trainer Peter dismissed comparisons with previous Klitschko opponent Mariusz Wach and insisted this represents Klitschko's toughest test to date.
A few days ago, BoxingScene.com reported that former heavyweight and cruiserweight champion David Haye was interested in facing current WBC king Deontay Wilder. Haye stated that he didn't have any interest in fighting domestic rival Tyson Fury. He was scheduled to face Fury on two separate dates and both fights fell through when Haye withdrew with injury. Haye has been inactive since his knockout victory over Dereck Chisora in 2012. Because of that inactivity - the uncle and trainer of Tyson, Peter Fury, says the two-division champion has done absolutely nothing to skip ahead of the line of worthy contenders who are waiting for a crack at Wilder.
Former two division world champion David Haye last fought three years ago, but he is still keeping himself busy in the gym and plans a comeback. However, the Londoner, who twice pulled out of scheduled clashes with Fury due to injuries, will not step in to face his domestic rival should the Wladimir Klitschko clash not happen. Fury is the mandatory challenger to Klitschko and their fight is expected to take place in the fall.
David Haye says Tyson Fury is in for a beating if he ever gets in a ring with Wladimir Klitschko. Haye has expressed doubts the fight will ever happen despite Fury being the mandatory challenger for the Ukrainian’s WBO heavyweight title. Undefeated Fury is still waiting for the Ukrainian to give him a date and venue for their showdown which Haye believes Klitschko will win if it happens. “Fury’s not good enough to beat Klitschko,” said Haye, who came up short against the heavyweight kingpin when he fought him in 2011.
David Haye, 26-2 (24), may not have fought since beating Dereck Chisora in July 2012, but the former cruiserweight and WBA champion believes he will get back into the ring to set up an all-London clash with 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist Anthony Joshua.
