David Haye, 26-2 (24), may not have fought since beating Dereck Chisora in July 2012, but the former cruiserweight and WBA champion believes he will get back into the ring to set up an all-London clash with 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist Anthony Joshua.
Haye’s persistent shoulder problems have kept him out of action since stopping Chisora in five rounds. During that time, Joshua has raced to 13-0 (13), his last win was an impressive two-round demolition over Kevin Johnson at London's O2 Arena. The Londoner is on the fast track to a world title, and that path may include a showdown with the “Hayemaker” if things fall into place.
“I definitely think an all-British contest will be there for us,” said Haye, 34, when speaking to The Sun. “Whether it happens or not depends on a lot of stuff. I've got to get back in the ring and he must keep winning. If we fight there would be no other location than Wembley. We're both from London and it would be a massive, massive affair. If he continues on this path he's probably only five or six fights away from fighting Deontay Wilder. I wouldn't be surprised if he got to Wilder or Klitschko before me.”
