hmmmm...intriguing fight...I sort of imagine it going like the Chisora fight, except Stiverne is a lot more skilled offensively and I think if he landed like Chisora was on Haye early on in that fight, it could be good night. If Haye uses his speed, punching angles and superior movement, he would win this...and it would be an impressive win for sure.
More skilled than Chisora, yes, maybe. But far more inactive, so less chances to connect.
Of course urine tests don't reveal everything. Why would they take blood samples from cyclists even during the long competitions? And they catch them in like 0.5% of the tests. PED’s are so advanced these days that we would have no guarantee of the fairness of the fight anyway. Imagine that if you have a ~0.5% chance to catch a cyclist who’s doping all the time, how infinitely small the chances are to see the other sports as real sporting events...
Rigo
He beat up the 2012 FOTY and Donaire was, on average, higher in P4P ranking than either Canelo or Marquez. (yeah, Agbeko is only a respectable former champ; whereas Guerrero was highly ranked. Bradley was entertaining but not dominant in his other win.)
I'd give Floyd a close second.
Adonis, Kovalev or GGG were active but not at P4P level.
btw, I see that most people seem to have Rigo in this long thread
Did you even read the article? it says GBP...would have Manny take the test, Mosley and Marquez don't give a shit about the test, the only one looking like a bitch is Manny for not taking the test.
Yeah, Mosley won’t ask Pac to take the test because he can understand him...
Its voluntary so basically useless. No cheater is going to volunteer to take any tests. All this will do is prove clean fighters are clean, it won't prove dirty fighters are dirty. If it becomes a coherent program and it grows in popularity, then the boxing public/press will demand for better testing, as we see in cycling. Then the commissions will be embarrassed by their ancient tests will be forced to improve theirs or maybe cooperate with VADA. We shouldn't care if Conte is making money or not out of this as long as we have a better chance to see real people in the ring...
Imagine the impact of the issue if a perceived "good guy" like Pacquiao or Martinez would support it (not only annoying characters like Floyd).
actually, he does. . . he follows up counter attacks with combinations (which is what really stymies manny). he uses his jab better. he is more aggressive than floyd. he is a better offensive/combination puncher than floyd. he is more willing to stand in the pocket and exchange, and take risks. . . he is a better body puncher. . .
Also he's leaning his body to the front and left where southpaws can't hit; not only he does that but he throws uppercuts from that angle (which is almost unique) with great accuracy. That's his great uppercut and you can't see it coming.
Lucas had 2 dominating rounds, out worked him in the 10th and the knockdown in the 4th, a round devon outworked him. It all weighs on the first round, Devon outworked Lucas, lederman scored for body punching. There is too much hate for devon, so you believe he lost and cried. It was a good close fight Yes but in the first round Devon only landed on Mathisse's gloves; effective aggression, ring generalship, defense and body punching were in favor of Lucas.
I agree with everything that Roach said here except for the part that suggests Chavez Jr would beat Sergio.
I think Sergio was absolutely exposed in the Macklin fight. We all just thought Martinez was just having an off night against Barker, but Macklin showed otherwise. It wasn't so much about what Macklin could do as much as it was about what he kept Sergio from doing.
I don't usually agree with Roach as his statements are usually all meant to flatter his own interests, and he did slip in the bit about Chavez Jr here, but
I think he nailed it concerning Sergio.
If fans have learned ANYTHING about Roach in the last few years its that Roach excels at recognizing weakness. I mean .. Manny Pacquiao's entire run at WW and jrMW was predicated on Roach's ability to do so!
I'm going to ride with Roach on this one. Give credit where credits due.
You should also give Macklin's team credit for having a totally different strategy than he usually has.
I don't think people should jump on Roach by saying that Pac or Khan were exposed, we're talking about Chavez here - and Zbik arguably beat him. What does Zbik do that Martinez can't?
Absolutely. And what's worse, Victor Conte, cannot be trusted. Why would a boxer hire him as their doctor? So they could understand how not to cheat? That's fuking bs, obviously.
And these retarded dumb asses like Rapid Counter actually think Conte knows more than Wada, or USTA in catching ped cheats? Absolute nonsense. The fact boxing allows a discredited cheat to operate with boxers, is a disgrace.
And Conte running his own anti doping program? Jesus Christ, what an amazingly retarded idea. If an organization is going to be used, it should be wada or USTA, obviously.
It is important what you do: Miller and Basso, in cycling are ex-doping cheats that are now considered almost the role models for clean cycling. They were exemplary and very vocal against doping after they served their penalties. And actually Conte might have good insider information for WADA. Do you know of any famous doping doctor helping an anti-doping commission? Of course, ideally boxing would work with WADA, but since it doesn't seems likely to happen any time soon, we can welcome any initiative.
Floyd's shoulder roll might not work against Bradley's best punch (his headbutt). Shoulder roll is the best way to protect yourself from headbutts, technically speaking.
Yeah, USADA are not used to deal with professional athletes... They are some me too company trying to make a name for them. The old man is, well, old. He doesn’t realize how damaging are his incoherent comments for the credibility of his man and of the sport itself.
And about the laughable seven spoons of blood: normal people give them all once for analysis, then they go home and eat and the next day – at worst – are as good as new. The sensitive pearl of Arum’s crown will have to give them in a month spam! Mayweather is a tough hombre, he can do it, but Pac will pass off...
If Pac says he's willing to do the blood test up until a week before the fight, and right after the fight, then wtf is FMJ and Golden Girl complaining about?
All of a sudden the NSAC is run by idiots? FMJ basically just slapped Keith Kizer and LV in the face by demanding what he is. And Pac said ok, but no blood test the week of the fight, but immediately after, yes.......
Yes the NSAC is run by idiots if they think that urine and blood tests yield identical results.
Apparently the state of boxing heavyweight writing is also on the slip. I think even Ronnie Nathanielsz isn't as lame. This was one opinionated, biased (i mean full of cognitive biases...) and whining piece.
PRBOXINGCOTTO: " pac will be remembered for his battles at 135 where he was good now he just fights ppls left overs"
Yeah, pac will be remembered for his fight at 135, against david diaz.
McCloskey is an interesting boxer (who doesn't deserve Marquez yet) but if they want a lefty as preparation for Pac, his style is so different that they may better fight a quadruped.
