GGG is smart. He is trying to sucker Brook into his game. A brawl with the naturally bigger and stronger man. This is not courageous, it is STRATEGIC! Like one blogger said, GGG boxed against Lemieux. That was smart and strategic. Can't be mad at him for that. You use the best game plan for the job. Brook has the skills to box and the size to keep Golovkin off of him better than the other guys he fought.
Weight difference is bigger
Sergio is two weight classes above Mayweather. Pacman was one division below Cotto. I think the comparison should be equal between both fights. Since it is a bigger difference, maybe they can meet in the middle, but to be honest, Mayweather doesn't need to fight Martinez. He is fighting in his correct division at 160. He should fight at the lowest 154 lb fighters and leave Pacquaio and Mayweather alone to settle their own score.
No, he apparently can't take Hopkins shots. We don't know about Tito, I'm not even sure Tito landed a clean punch on him. I didn't see the Vargas fight, but I do know that Shane had him hurt on several occasions. Since Shane more than likely doesn't have Tszyu's power, I think Kostya probably could hurt him.
Anyone will fall from a good liver shot. It was more a the landing of the punch than the actual power of the punch.
Tito Vs Wright, good fight. Hopkins Vs Tito, waste of our time, we saw this fight and in retrospect realizing Hopkins was so effected by the change of date due to 9/11, i think Hopkins will perform so much better next time out, he`ll have a bit more juice on the jab and probably stop the Pueto Rican in 8rds. Then Hopkins could target the winner of the Tarver Johnson rematch or maybe the light middleweights. The one thing that has upset me is that Hopkins is forced into these rematches with fighters who he gave one sided beatings to ( Echols, Allien, Trinidad etc) I want a fresh challenge for Nard, he has earned it!
No, Hopkins chooses to fight his mandatories and rematches. From his 40 some odd fights, the only credible opponents he beat were William Joppy, De la Hoya, and Trinidad. Echols, Allen three times, are mandatories. In the division, you are allowed to fight one fight before your mandatory, something like what Klitchko did with fighting Williams instead of Rahman. You can do that if you want to. Jermain Taylor or Trinidad will beat him. Eastman has a good chance as well.
Freddie Roach probably did not want to train him again or he may have asked him to retire and Mike decided not to so, he hired another trainer. To be honest, Mike needs the guy who was a co-trainer under Cus D'mato. I forgot his name but reportedly, he has offered his services to Mike.
B-ITCH MOVE Canelo. Mandatories cannot be stipulated. Rules state that anything between 155-160 is a middleweight title fight. I expect him to be stripped and Triple G fights the mandatory.
Clay passed on like all people pass on it was his time. Clay had a good life but was no hero just a guy who boxed and would not defend his country. Time to move on especially honoring American heroes who died in wars defending America on memorial day a day set aside to honor American heroes.
What's the point of your comment? You know his name is not Clay but you still call him that. For what? Just to be an ass!
Sure Kov, tell yourself what need to make you feel better. You can’t take body shots and gassed out both fights after the fifth round. He’s #1 P4P
Sergey Kovalev says he's "disappointed" IBF, WBA, WBO light heavyweight champion Andre Ward is retiring from boxing because "I don't have opportunity to kick his ass again." The Krusher joked to TMZ Sports that he predicted he would end Ward's career before their second fight back in June ... and now, "It's true!"Click Here To Read More]
They both are winners so it will not be easy for any fighter. If you are a real fan of boxing then you will understand that. Ward has fought the better opponents but is smaller. Kovalev is taller and hits harder. Ward has the boxing IQ and experience technically. Overall Ward is better but Kovalev is a monster. Pick 'em fight in my opinion.
He and his team knew the financial breakdown in the contract of the first fight since there was a rematch clause. Those details are in the agreement at that time. I think it is because you have all of Ward's team confirming that they have proof that John David Jackson actually made the call to leave Kovalev. He allegedly said that he hated Kovalev and is treated bad. Jackson admitted that if the money was higher that he would have left. That is causing trouble in their team. I would not be surprised if this is the last time they work together.
Floyd should easily outbox this guy but Canelo has more than a puncher's chance. So that's the intriguing part of this fight. The bad part about it that both fighter's have an excuse if they lose. Canelo can just say that the two pounds drained him too much and was tired. Floyd can say that he lost to a light heavyweight because Canelo comes into the ring heavier than Golovkin (who is a middleweight). Golovkin fought last weekend at 170 and Canelo comes into the ring at 172. Floyd enters the ring at 150. Both great excuses so let's see who gets to use their excuse!
To Andrade's credit, he has been calling for all of these fights but he is not a ticket seller and more of a boxing style so the bigger names avoid him. Now that he has a belt, he can possibly get a fight with Golovkin. Golovkin needs to win a belt to get a 3rd Canelo fight. Canelo and Oscar already said that they are not going to fight him next. Andrade can try to derail a 3rd fight by beating Golovkin...tough task.
Oscar sounds stupid as if he will not blame himself as a promoter for being unable to make exciting fights. You're a promoter so make fights. You can't put this on them especially when neither fighter is under your umbrella. Idiot. So many haters
Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya believes the pay-per-view audience is shrinking, because the two biggest names in the sport have been unable to reach an agreement to face each other in the ring - and fans are gradually displaying their frustrations by declining to purchases pay-per-view events.

Casual fans that know nothing about boxing are always talking about Floyd fighting someone. GGG can stop being scared himself. He always says that he wants to unify the division, well he just announced a fight in October but before that there are three other 160 pound champions besides Cotto. Any of them will fight him. He can stop trying to fight a 147 pound fighter and a 154 pound fighter. He can fight someone in his actual weight class. Floyd will stay in his and fight. No need for Floyd to fight someone two weight classes higher. I do not know see anyone asking Manny to fight GGG when he was champion. Why not? They both fight at 147 but I already know that people are going to say that Manny is too small. Well, if Manny is too small then why is Floyd not? Stop with double standards people and learn the sport of boxing and how weight classes work.
Stephen Espinoza, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Showtime Sports, indicates that Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs) is very close to making an official announcement regarding his next fight, which is scheduled to take place on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
"Personally I believe that it will be announced this week, possibly next week. But we're getting close," Espinoza told BoxingScene.com.

How did he solve the Mayweather puzzle? His fighter lost 10 rounds in a boxing lesson and Manny was throwing both hands until the final bell! I know what a torn rotator cuff feels like and you cannot lift the arm. If Manny's fight is your answer to solving the puzzle then I am not sure how you find victory in losing that many rounds knowing what a guy is going to do coming into the fight. even Freddy admitted that Manny lost the fight.
Freddie roach is probably the best coach out there today. In terms of championship experience, and also solved the mayweather blue print with a one armed fighter. And I was there to see it unfold lol. Most expensive ticket ever
Only casual fans say that Manny win that fight. He won 3 rounds at best!! Clearly don't know boxing if you say he won, so there is no need on going back and forth with these casuals
Eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao touches his injured right shoulder during a press conference shortly after arriving from the United States at the international airport in Manila on Wednesday (Manila Time). Pacquiao arrived at Manila airport with his right arm in a sling following shoulder surgery. Pacquiao spoke to reporters about his twelve round decision loss to career rival Floyd Mayweather in their a much-hyped 'fight of the century' in Las Vegas last May 2.
It was announced on Tuesday that Mayweather-Pacquiao obliterating the pay-per-view record with 4.4 million buys. Showtime and HBO officials say the fight generated more than $400 million in television revenue, which was also a record.

Khan
I am not a fan of Khan but let's be fair. Canelo weighed a reported 178 pounds on fight night. Khan won every round until that right hand. Canelo loves to fight smaller guys to hide his boxing and stamina issues. Khan would have beaten a world class not superstar welterweight that night.
They can both be in the corner but he is trained by both of them the entire training camp. Roach is trying to shake things up because if Floyd had Roger then he would engage more but that is the exact reason why Floyd's fight have been easier than expected with exception to the first Maidana fight.
How did a Cotto post turn into a Floyd Mayweather hate session? Floyd has nothing to do with this fight or Cotto at this particular time and you casual fans still find a way to hate on him and his ability to box. This is boxing. Cotto and Oscar de la Hoya both do the same things that Floyd is doing. They control the terms of their fights, pick their opponents, Oscar boxed and actually ran around the ring against Felix Trinidad. Ali did too. It is not Floyd's fault that he was born in this era.
Only mayweather can gain confidence from cherry picking and weight draining? Drained canelo. Came in way over against Marquez shall we go on Floyd fans? Leonard Duran hagler hearns Robinson all spank Floyd !
People that say that he ran is just making excuses for Manny not being able to box. This is not the BBK or UFC. Do you really expect Floyd or anyone to stand and trade. If you watched the fight, he stepped away, clinched, or moved off the ropes. This is boxing and Manny's camp knew that Floyd would not be an idiot to stand with him. They both have their styles, so why wasn't Manny cutting off the ring?
Khan maybe on his way to stardom but being that he has not been in a Fight of Year type of fight or even near being one of the elite, his mouth may push him further from the payday he seeks. Khan should fight Maidana again in the UK. Floyd and all media admits that Ortiz was a true threat, young, fast, aggressive, but still no credit. He should rematch Ortiz like he said in the ring interview to rid the controversy. I am a fan of his but he should have beaten him without leaving the doubt. He was already on his way to doing that. Khan just wait in line or fight your stablemate Pac-man.
I do not see this fight ever happening again and I hope not. I love watching pure boxers but you cannot sell this fight as a PPV. Plus the ego would never allow it to happen again because Manny is not going to admit that he lost which was a clear decisive unanimous decision. Boring or not, it was an easy sparring match. I could see Floyd coming back to fight Vargas if he wins to get his 50th victory.
Oscar scared of that GGG fight
No Oscar stop trying to avoid the GGG fight. That's the only fight you need to make.
If Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26 KOs) is looking for a massive pay-per-view fight - then Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya sees only one option - Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs). Back in 2013 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Mayweather dominated Canelo over twelve rounds for a decision win. Their pay-per-view broke several revenue records and generated 2.2 million purchases on pay-per-view.Click Here To Read More]
I understand that you are a diehard manny fan and that's good. Let that aside for a second and just think pugilism. Manny list the May2nd fight, did not even show up. Also, people like to discredit Floyd's wins and give Manny credit. I am fair across the board. Manny beat some great champions however Floyd beat Oscar at 154, and Cotto at 154 but people discredit Flpyd win against Canelo but do not discredit Manny's win against Cotto at 145 and Oscar at 147.
Manny deserves it! Look at the list of fighters he's beaten: Floyd Mayweather Jr, Oscar De La Hoya, Juan Manual Marquez, Tim Bradley, Ricky Hatton, Marc-Ho Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Antonio Margarito, Brandon Rios...I mean the list goes on and on
Floyd Ortiz Mess
I am wondering what people would say if Mayweather butted Ortiz four times and Ortiz won with a sucker punch, immorally, whatever term that fits? Something tells me that media and fans would say that Mayweather shouldn't have butted him then tried to kiss and hug him. Now who agrees to that truth remains to be seen. I was rooting for Floyd and I knew that he would box Ortiz to a victory, however, I am honest to say that he should have waited for Ortiz to continue the fight then beat him with no asterick or doubts. So my opinion is that Floyd keeps his word and gives Ortiz a rematch.
That is all well and good but this is what he means by he will always be criticized because the same standard isn't applied to other fighters. Why isn't this criticism said about Manny fighting Oscar at 147, ten years since he has made that weight, or Cotto who was forced to fight at 145 which is lower than the welterweight class. I agree with Floyd, but I like Manny as a fighter as well. I guess I am a true boxing fan because most of you guys hate either one. He can do whatever he wants with HIS money. Why do you people care about other people's personal business, they need to mind they own. My point is just be fair across the board. Manny is the king of catchweights. Floyd beat Cotto at 154, but they said Cotto was washed up when Floyd beat him, now all of a sudden Cotto is back and in the best shape! LOL
He's criticized with Pacquiao because the fight happened 5 years late.
He's criticized with Canelo because of the 152 catch weight.
He's criticized with Maidana because of the, "running" and "hugging". Let's be real though, Kenny Bayless did a **** job that second fight in regards to the clinching. Still, it's just an excuse to hate on him because he's been fighting this way for years now. The last reason below is my opinion on why he's hated on a lot.
He's criticized because he's undefeated and not a, "people's champ" kind of guy. People like to see the, "good guy" come out on top. Mayweather has a record of domestic violence, and showboats his money consistently. Not exactly people's vision of the way a hero acts.
I don't know what criticism he received for Cotto/Mosley/Hatton, though. Probably the Hatton fight for acting like a diva with the whole landing before Hatton does thing.
I thought Canelo was the biggest and strongest threat to Floyd. At least on paper, Canelo was. Youth, strength, power and speed for someone his weight class. How is Maidana a better matchup than Canelo for Floyd?
I'm curious. Shouldn't De la Hoya ask to have another chance at Mayweather? No one wants to actively seek out the Golden Boy anymore. Then if he does come back, Pacquaio nor Money May will fight hiim at 154.
