mikey is really trying to make up for lost time.
War Mikey....I favor him over broner because he is disciplined and sharp but he better bring his A game because I think he will be in there with the best Broner we've seen in some time
Great fight!!!!
Watchiing Burley is like watching a fighter combining the attributes of Jones and Mayweather
He had the the punches from every angle like Jones, the technique of Mayweather, and knew all the text book ways to defend....moving his head, parrying, rolling both shoulders, dipping...he was a great athlete with great skills
too bad there is not much footage of him
does shadow boxing improve hand speed?
Shadowboxing with free hand weights with tighten your technique, thus increasing better timing and speed......YES
IMO may weather is the best fighters of the 2000s to now. He was fighter of the year in 98 when no one even knew who Manny was and is still an undefeated champion. Everyone acknowledges his skill and work ethic is unlike anyone of this era.
The facts are of all the guys fighting today may weather has beaten the most champion's, tied for most lineal titles, half his fights are title fights and majority of those are lineal title fights. He has fought almost double the title fights Manny has and some may feel PAC is greater.
Based on the eye test, who they fought etc.....may weather is the clear greatest of this era
That's a tough one but I lean toward Pacquiao vs. Barrera. I remember watching that fight live like:
https://media.giphy.com/media/ddd0HBTakik00/200.gif
I didnt expect Manny to dominate him like that but anyone who followed Barrera's career knows he has trouble with good speed and powerful straight shots
Junior Jones couldnt miss his straight shots, Manny couldnt either....Morales doesnt have the one punch snap manny and jones had at 122
Barrera gets a little overrated. He was 60 fights in, 29 years old and many wars under his belt...great win by manny but the reason it is such a big deal is because Manny was unknown to casual fans and just hit the world scene a few fights prior...it was the shock value of the win
Corrales and Mayweather were in their prime and undefeated...thats why fights like Leonard vs Benitez and Hearns were a big deal
One thing I never hear really discussed on this site is Barrera's two fights with Junior Jones that sorta exposed him. That first fight was f*cking nuts.
yep...that loss should be a ko loss.
He got exposed thats why tried to change his style....Morales brought the dog out him, seemed like they hated each other but that 1st fight took a lot out of both of them...its wonder how they fought two more times and other wars after that. Morales was the younger guy but Barrera was a thorn in his side.
I agree and hindsight is 20/20 but it is still one hell of a win. No shame in saying I think it's better than the Corrales victory. But I could see how a case could be made otherwise given where they were at in their respective careers.
me too...i gave the slight edge to mayweather vs corrales...2 prime, undefeated future hall of famers...these two cleaned out their era at 130-135
imo Barrera is the greater fighter more accomplished anyway but Barrera never cleaned out a division.
between them, wins over Smoke Gainer, Casamayor, Robert Garcia, Genaro Hernandez, Carlos Hernandez, angel manfredy, Gary St. Claire, Castillo, Freitas, Jesus Chavez, Goyo Vargas
imo Diego was just more dangerous at 130 than Barrera was at 126 and past prime as well
i can see why someone would pick manny's win over barrera though
Barrera is a great fighter but his status got a lil overblown when he beat Hamed...the same people who trashed the prince( like hbo and his haters) and said he was a hypejob made barrera out to be the best thing since sliced bread when he beat him....weird huh
Barrera took 2 losses to jr jones prior and was slightly past prime. adapted a boxer puncher style because of past wars and wear and tear of 50+ fight career.
Corrales was undefeated and favored over Floyd(yes very rare)
both were considered among the best young fighters in the sport, undefeated, dominated everyone....it was supposed to be the jr. lightweight leonard vs hearns but Mayweather completely undressed him.
also both campaigned at or around 130....who would you favor....Barrera vs Corrales....imo Corrales sparks out Barrera who doesnt have the speed of foot and hand or elusiveness that bothered him like Casamayor, frietas and floyd
also barrera was a sucker for the straight right....sleepy time
Corrales was the more dangerous opponent at the time of the fight, Barrera is remembered as the greater fighter but IMO Corrales is hall of fame material
only fighters he never beat that he faced was an ATG(Mayweather) and a 170 pound Clottey at ww
the best Mayweather was at 140 and below he was under 30 then fighting guys more his size...every athlete declines after that age but he is by no means shot or anything...dude is 35 but his skillset will keep letting him succeed, he never just depended on being a supreme athete
Like I said though, Bradley's lack of power will be the deciding factor in this fight. He won't be able to keep Pacquiao off him like Marquez did because he hasn't got enough power to pose a serious threat to Pac. So physically Provodnikov could be a more difficult fight for Pacquiao because of his additional power and ability to keep Pac at bay more than Bradley can. You need power to keep Pacquiao in check, all those other skills Bradley has aint gonna mean jack without any power against Pac.
Power isnt everything, if that was the case he'd be undefeated.....Marquez aint a huge puncher even lightweight let alone 144....power dont mean much if you not hitting your opponent clean
All Bradley has to do is hit and not get hit more often...you dont have to ko everytime to win...wouldnt be the first time a lesser puncher won a fight
Bradley is not here to play around, that is all...
now thats the Shane Mosley I grew up on in the 90's....Man dude was a beast....for those who didnt get to see him back then, he was the best lightweight since Pernell Whitaker in the 80's...thats saying alot...he had it all and even had good defense and reflexes at lioghtweight
Maybe he has been weening himself off those"protein shakes"......lol for real though I made a thread a few weeks ago saying he looked a little soft than usual early on and throughout the 24/7 series....some say he is getting older....I just think he finally filled out as a welterweight, the first time I think I seen hm come in at the limit
cmon we cant be talking about that now...you guys call urselves fan of boxing?.. the real deal right now is manny got robbed by bradley.. the marquez fight was way okay because it can go either way, but this one can't and no matter how many times u'll watch it. i cant believe u had it a draw when the champ is the one pressing the action and clearly hurting the challenger... im so disappointed with fans like you who is still happy with whats going on...
im not happy but..there is no reason y he shbouldnt have 4 losses....tooo bad it wuznt the fight he lost
Reclaim? The man was only ever P4P #1 when Floyd was retired.
people forget Manny Pacquaio got the number one spot in the first place by default because Mayweather retired.
It doesnt matter what he does against Bradley, he has to beat Mayweather to earn being the number one pound for pound fighter. Mayweather has been a top pound for pound fighter years before anyone even heard of Manny Pacquiao so beating Bradley does nothing in that sense.
LOL. there are all tough out there trust me, muscles dont scare people in boxing :) and also the 12 KO's.
thats why they choose Bradley....good name, undefeated, respected fighter.....but has no punch what so ever....the best possible opponent to not get hurt but have a chance to score an impressive win
reason why i said karma because at the end of the day...pacquaio deserved another loss on his record...i hate it being like this but last November...go watch you know why....im a boxing fan scored it twice a draw and 3 points for Manny but in the end his record is exactly the way it should be....with 4 losses
I picked Bradley to win,
but honestly, I was disgusted.
He was beat, he knows he was beat.
This is just bad for the sport.
it was kinda ****ed up , but why would roach even bring up the last fight if they didnt get a gift last time?
Exactly and even then he shouldn't have got it because Marquez clearly beat him in their 2nd fight. If there hadn't been corruption involved in the judging of that fight, then Marquez would have been the p4p #1 when Mayweather returned and more than likely, nobody would even be talking about Manny Pacquiao. After that all he did was beat two dead men walking who were drained and mentally ruined in Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton with some nobody called David Diaz sandwiched in between. People want to talk about him beating Barrera and Morales twice each but Junior Jones also beat Barrera twice and when Pacquiao beat Morales he had just been completely dominated by Zahir Raheem, losing every single round. So at least in my opinion those wins are highly overrated.
yeah they are great wins but a little overrated.
its not who you beat but when you beat them
He already lost to past prime Morales. whom some were saying was on the slide since fights with In Jin Chi and Guty Espades....in the 2nd fight Morales struggled to make the weight and already lost to Zahir Raheem before losing to Pacquaio next.....piss poor timing
Barrera in his prime lost twice to junior Jones, by the time he was 29 with 50 fights he was fighting Pacquaio....after wars with Morales, McKinney, and other tough fights, he wasnt the same fighter he was from 1998-2001 and anyone who says otherwise dont know much about how taking punishment affects a fighter
two big wins but its not like both guys were in their prime
Yea Manny has been hear a million times he aint intimidated but its good to see Manny in with an opponent who isnt gonna be all hunky dory and buddy buddy with him becuase he is so likable....this is a fight coming up ya know
floyd has long been in the p4p list even when he was fighting stiffs...he got in in 99 believe...when pac became the p4p king , only one fight where he struggeld which was the marquez 3...and if you wanna talk about who's more deserving then let's compare their common opponents and the fashion they beat em....ok , let's downplay bhop's wins now...lol..bhop win over trinidad is better than whatever win in floyds resume .....
So Genero Hernandez is a stiff? smh that was 1998
in 2001 Hopkins beat Trinidad and Keith Holmes and Mayweather beat Diego Corrales, Jesus Chavez, and Carlos Hernandez all in the same year. Mayweather was already 3 years in the p4p list and had a better year.
Never downplayed Hopkins wins or his win over Trinidad for that matter...I favored Hopkins over Trinidad back....Tito was in his third division fighting a bigger stronger better skilled guy everyone else was riding bandwagon. Good win but up til that point Hopkins competition was not all that. He raked up alot of defenses at that time but alot the fellow titlists he beat were just decent fighters or past it up til he beat Tito. I have to disagree with you on that win over Tito and how significant it is
Common Opponents dont mean much. They both won those fights, are two style different fighters, and fought them at different times. Mayweather happened to fight all of them after huge win not a beating.
no, if that was the reason then pac should've been bumped down right after marquez 3 fight...floyd did'nt get bumped down when he did'nt look impressive vs hoya and balmdoir ...you said pac gothe # 1 spot by default but so did floyd...pac got it when floyd reteired and floyd got it when bhop lost....so both really did'nt become the p4p king bacuse of what they did but becuase of what the then current p4p failed to do which in bhop's case win and in floyd' case retirement...
Mayweather was in the top 10 p4p before Hopkins was and was undefeated and had more of a claim to being number one pound for pound considering he was in his prime and undefeated.Mayweather didnt look impressive to some in those fights but there is no dispute that he won those fights like their is on Manny beating Marquez, thats the huge difference. Hopkins only claim to fame was beating Trinidad and raking up IBF title defenses whereas Mayweather already beat the same amount of world title holders(9) and won titles at 3 weights up to that time in far less fights
Manny Pacquiao is not gonna fight Mike Jones.....Jones is too big...think about it Bradley is a champion at 140, Cotto was at a catchweight, Marquez was at a catchweight, Mosely was almost 40 and knew he couldnt pull the trigger, and Margo was at a catchweight.....Manny aint fighting a big welterweight like that....too much risk no reward
Karma is a MOFO aint it, Pacquiao vs Bradley 2 here we go!!!
I honestly thought Manny pulled this fight out, cant say the same for the last Marquez fights...but really, best p4p i think not...whether he got the decision in this fight or the last he not this best in the world....glad we got to see it twice *******s...robbery...idk...close fight yep....scored it a draw, Manny culdve got the nod
