Liam Smith isn't really that rated over here. None of the Gallagher camp is including Callum Smith or Natasha Jonas. Liam boxed brilliantly yesterday, but he isn't world-level anymore.
Vargas was crap.
First of all, Mayweather is an anomaly in boxing full stop - not just for black American boxers. He was incredibly talented, won various titles as multiple weights and promoted his own fights for a while. Am I right in thinking his fight vs Manny holds the ppv record for the sport?
Canelo is probably the closest to a boxing superstar since Floyd retired and I'd argue even he isn't as big. Especially outside of North America. Most Europeans respect his ability, but aren't bothered about his fights - Floyd gathered a lot of interest. Floyd almost transcended the sport.
How many Boxers not named Canelo pack out big stadiums? Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury can, but neither are American and yanks strangely can't relate to non-American blacks.
I don't see any boxer bar Tyson Fury with the style, record, charisma and ability to transcend the sport like Floyd and he us retired, not black, not American and has no suitable dancing partner left to fight.
I'd say Tank is perhaps the most marketable African-American fighter. Boits Ennis is good, but lacks marketability.
Haney is on another level to basic George. I'm still not convinced Kambosos didn't simply have the night if his life vs Teo and is actually below world level.
Kambosos will get some joy in the early rounds before being schooled
