Anyone who thinks Haye has a chance against Vitali, is either on crack or from Europe, or a combination of smoking crack in Europe. Haye is an above average heavyweight and that's about it, please stop the nonsense.
See this is the kind of stuff that he needs to share more often, it humanizes him. I still can't fathom how someone with his circumstances could grow up and act like a douche.
What does being from "the streets" have to do with being a problem child? Some of the associations being drawn are silly. The fact is, the guy has issues in and out of the street. When he brings those issues into his livelihood, aka suspension, you begin to realize that has no self control.
If you know exactly when you are getting tested it is much easier to hide any wrong doing.
There really is no substance now that comes close to the "clear" and they even have a test for that now using methyl vapors and blood samples. He can take all the tests in the world after the fight and if he isn't clean it will show in the results, even 4 weeks out coming off a cycle. Let's see this for what it really is, an allegation from a non-credible sources(Roger and Floyd Sr.) with the intent being to create a mental distraction so the "golden child" can gain yet another advantage. Here is a much better question...why has this only come up now?
I like roy but he got caught on the sauce too!!
When Roy tested everything was classified as a "steroid", he tested positive from taking a fat burner made by Twinlabs, that contained ephedra and was banned.
The man fighting Manny Pacquiao, risking his health and livelihood- plain and simple. If situations were reversed, I'd give Floyd just as much shit for not agreeing to be tested; beyond a doubt.
Please when has this motherf*cker risked anything in the last couple of years? The words "risk" and Mayweather don't get together. Anyway I'm not mad at you, I'm studying for an exam and I'm about to pass out and why didn't he evvvvvveeeer ask for these same tests before? On a side note can someone keep a mic away from Floyd Sr and Roger, we're all dumber for having listened to them speak.
Floyd's legendary status can grow with this testing demand. With Floyd's status in the boxing world along with Pacquiao's, this Olympic style testing can have an impact on the boxing world and can open eyes to how relaxed the current testing is.
Floyd can be the "spearhead" in a movement that might change the whole testing process. If that does happen, then Floyd will add to his legend by basically changing boxing. It will be historical.
I hope other boxers with big names decide to step forward and agree with the Olympic testing for two reasons, to advance the safety in out sport, and to basically clean the sport up and block out the cheaters.
I don't know how a love for a fighter will blind one to what is best for boxing itself.
Right Floyd should fight for this and it would be the toughest fight he's had in years.
You seem to be hating pretty hard right now. It's hard for me to take you seriously when you're throwing shit at Floyd's camp. I want Manny to be tested, but I have nothing against him or Roach.
Can it still be hating if it's true? lol
I will still repeat myself.
I do not believe Pacquiao is on steroids, whatsoever.
It never even wondered it.
But if Pac turns down the biggest grossing, most viewed fight in the history of the sport, because he doesnt want to succumb to the same exact drug testing of his competitor, on top of 50 million dollars... it will be the first time suspicion would be raised in my mind.
And, that's just keeping it truthful.
What's the difference if he takes the test after the fight?
That's easy, he looses his title and license and probably be banned from boxing. YOu asked why not prevent the doping as if he is already guilty. That's my problem with this whole issue. There was never a question or suspicions until crackhead started to spread lies and rumors about Manny doping. So there really isn't any valid suspicions with any merit or credibility other than a crackhead's word. Point is, there where no smoke, yet someone yelled out fire and everyone believed it. Many of Manny's haters have already concluded that Manny is doping based on crackhead's comments. That's quite pathetic.
Exactly this all started because a crackhead was tweaking and a mic happened to be close by. I mean c'mon consider the source people.
So, am I supposed to allow Pacquiao's superstitions to dictate the fight? I like him, so I'm sympathetic, but I'm not going to just allow him not to be tested prior to the fight, while something can be done about doping.
If you argue it's a mental thing; can't we be fair and argue Floyd could be negatively mentally affected if Manny DOESN'T get tested?
I wouldn't let Floyd get away with saying he was superstitious and doing this, either.
Would you let Floyd get away with not fighting a top rate legitimate welterweight in years? I'm off to bed bring on the next superfight. Mayweather vs Matthew Hatton with the winner taking on Henry Bruseles...twice.
Would I consider Pacquiao a legitimate top rate welterweight when he hasn't done anything substantial at the weight other than beat Cotto?
I've given Floyd critical shit for not taking on welterweights, but that doesn't change his skill level, or my enjoyment watching him use it.
Also, you're coming off very strongly as wanting to just bash Floyd and his side, without even attempting to be fair or objective.
I come off that way because unapologetically because I think he is full of shit. The tests were fine the way they were, until new regulations/legislation are put in place to mandate certain testing procedures, then who the f*ck is Mayweather to make demands? This all started because his "intellectual" father got a mic pushed in his face.
Why does Floyd have to succumb to 10 million dollar fine every pound over the limit if he doesn't have too? But he did, anyway.
It's a request just like the request for the ridiculous fine, and Floyd will be undergoing the same exact testing.
Because he's done it before and it clearly demonstrates that he is capable of doing it again. Is there proof that Pac has taken P.Enhancers in the past? Did Floyd come in over the stipulated weight when he faced JMM?
This whole thing is about mental gamesmanship, why should special testing rules be implemented based merely on allegations, rumors and innuendo started by two of the most uneducated lifeforms ever to inhabit a planet in Roger and Floyd Sr.
I think Ariza summed it up best in his interview in reference to Floyd Sr.
"When he first started saying that stuff, I didn't really address it because it was coming from Floyd," a clearly frustrated Ariza told me the other day on the telephone. "But things like that can start to snowball. I'm not saying this to be demeaning, but Floyd never finished high school and I'm not sure he knows the difference between steroids and supplements, which can be confusing. Nouns, subjects and verbs can also be confusing if you don't finish high school. I'm just not sure Floyd knows the difference."
On a side note, if the fight does fall through maybe Mayweather can go and check if Henry Bruseles is still active.
Do I think what the fans who pay the salary of boxer's and promoter's has to say matters? Yes. Not just me, or my opinion- all of ours. We make this sport run, so please stop with that 'you don't matter' angle. We do. Maybe not just me, but the three hundred thousand of me, that might share my opinion- well, we do.
Further, don't belittle me because I'm assuming Floyd might have said that, or that I find it suspicious Manny won't take a test.
Shane Mosley complied with all state commission testing and was doping. Margarito did the same- and was cheating with his hand wrappings; things fall through the cracks; if you have a chance to prevent one such mistake you always should.
Do I think Manny is doping? Check my signature banner; both Floyd and Pacquiao are there. I'm not biased. I want Manny to take the test, pass it, and the fight to go on as planned- I'm not assuming he's doping, but if he won't comply with testing, I do find it unusual.
You obviously aren't a big fan of Floyd or his camp. I see you and some others repeatedly going back to Floyd, Sr. having 'started all this'. I myself, and I know many others, completely ignored those original comments. This drama isn't being created by what Floyd's father said. We all know how he is. The buzz is Manny's refusal- that simple.
Even Dan Raphael is reporting on espn.com that this all started because of Floyd Sr. Floyd Sr. would know what he started if just went to espn.com. The problem is I'm not even sure if he can spell ESPN or .com.
Use your brain for a few seconds you might comprehend what i am saying. Floyd comes out of retirement @ Pacs press conference. States he is still king and P4P # 1, an indirect insult to Pac (the current accepted P4P). Also his comeback fight was against....?? Thats rite...JMM, the man Manny had 2 controversial fights with. Floyd positions himself to whoop Marquez to discredit Pac and get some hype happening for a fight with Pac.
Manny beats Cotto (Big Floyd is ringside). About a second after Manny wins Floyd gets on TV and says he will whip him with ease and wants the fight. Floyd signs a 50/50 against his better nature and agrees quickly to terms set out by Pacs team. Mayweather/Ellerbe/Haymon even step aside and let GBP handle the negotiation as not to let past bad blood get in the way of reaching an acceptable deal.
Dosen't sound much like he is scared to me. All they want is more stringent blood testing. What is the big deal about that?????
Simple question....why didn't Mayweather request the same type of drug test for all of his other high profile bouts?
Coming in heavy is not cheating!! Its just unprofessional. JMM agreed to the compensation offered and the fight went forward. case closed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is a non-issue PBF vs Pac is @ 147.....floyd weighed 146 on the scales vs JMM. He should make weight easier in the Pac fight.
THIS IS A NON-ISSUE!!!!
Technically it is cheating, especially if you knew in advance you couldn't make the weight and you weren't even going to attempt too, so rather than starting out on a level playing field (which in the case of JMM...FM already wasn't as he made JMM jump up 2 divisions) giving Mayweather yet another advantage that night, yes it's unprofessional and anything you knowingly do to gain an advantage in a game where you should both start out on a level playing field can be considered cheating. The general point is as much as I respect Floyd's talent the guy lacks substance and he seems content with playing these little mind games, when he should be focusing on participating in competitive match-ups, which he hasn't done in years. You think maybe they can test for that too?
i cant believe this sh*t.
What's with the random, multiple blood draws before the fight? Why not do it after the fight?
To my knowledge this is the first professional fight in las vegas that is now requiring olympic style testing.
Should we brand every boxer in history who didnt get tested olympic style?
First time in professional boxing a fighter has to take olympic style drug testing due to a baseless with no knowledge or evidence of steroids by a ex convict & a family full of criminals, woman beaters, tax cheats, & liars.
This is a disgusting act by the mayweathers. really despicable.
That's the point this type of testing isn't required in Vegas. The only people asking for these tests are the Mayweather camp, not because they care about the integrity of sport, please I don't believe that bullshit for one minute and I know most of you don't either despite what you say to the contrary.
Mayweather simply wants to make life as uncomfortable as possible for Pac during his training camp, it's an unnecessary distraction. Again Mayweather in all of his other fights never once requested any of these tests, now all of a sudden he wants them? This is a game of let's see if I tell you to jump and you can ask me how high.
As far as i'm concern, like Roach have suggested, the ball in on Floyd's court now. Manny's camp have done all they can to make this fight happen. Blood test before the press conference and after the fight is good enough. If Floyd himself had never been subjected to this and neither of the other fighters he fought before Manny, why the fvck Manny should be subjected to this. Regardless, they agreed to it to a certain extent, so there shouldn't be anymore discussions about it. Man up Floyd, it's all up to you now.
No one has been subjected to this, the real question is why now? What's the motive behind changing the testing specifically for this fight? Would he ask anyone else to do it? Obviously the answer to that is no, who is Mayweather exactly to make demands like this? He isn't bigger than the sport of boxing despite his numerous proclamations speaking to that point. This all originated from his father and uncle, as to why anyone would take these uneducated people seriously unless you prefer to be wrong, is beyond me.
The point is that you would have already cycle off the drugs by the time the test after the fight is given. What would be the point of random tests if they didnt work? Also boxing dosent check blood which can trace something like HGH which urine cant. Many people dont think pac is on steroids but they think he is on Human Growth Hormone the same thing that baseball players took when they broke crazy records.
Pac's training camp is how long? If he got off "roids" a month prior to his fight, then his cycle would be useless presumably because he wouldn't be able to take it for the full duration of two months. It's not enough time, especially since he was just tested last week.
Plenty of things show up in blood tests that are false positives, years ago a downhill skier tested positive for steroids, all he was taking was a protein based powder called Nitro-Tech. Roy tested positive because he was taking a fat-burner from Twinlabs. It's possible that Pac could be taking T enhancers that act as precursor hormones, those aren't illegal but you will test positive. Ever heard of PEA? It's an extract from a plant and it's in a lot of fatburners, if you're on it and take a drug test....you'll test positive for Meth, as the chemical composition of PEA mirrors that of methylamines. The point is Pac can take the test after and focus on training for the fight of his life, without any of these side-show distractions.
And if Manny fails the test after the fight- what then? What if he was to KO Mayweather, collect millions of dollars, and then he's found to have been doping. The damage is done. You don't just treat diseases, you try and prevent their onset in others; in other words, why not try and prevent the question of Manny's doping, rather than wait until AFTER the fight??
You're assuming the possibility of guilt, how can you test for what you think someone is capable of doing? That's why we have a system of laws and regulations in place, you can't assume guilt and therefore initiate some level of treatment because there is a presumption of guilt. Has Pac passed all of his prior drug tests?
Boxing is a brutal, bloody sport. Don't forget that. Floyd still fights other men for a living. That is a risk- always. Please don't let your hate for him, which I couldn't care less about (I'm not trying to convert you or anything) cloud that realization. All boxers, other than those that cheat, deserve- at the least- our respect for stepping into the ring.
I respect his talent...once again he lacks substance.
If Pac really believes it will at all affect him negatively, why would he do it when he's about to face a fighter as good as Mayweather? Fuck that I want to be at my absolute best, Mayweather is in the wrong here for even making these demands in the first place. Anyone who started thinking Pac may be on roids because Mayweather Sr. said it needs to remember how intelligent SR. is or isn't.
This is all an attempt to create a side-show distraction. Why not just allow him to take the test after the fight? What's the difference?
Well i suspect there is a few rumours around the sport regarding Pacman and doping, whereas this was not the case for other opponents floyd has faced. The fact that Pac has been able to go up in weight and add power, speed and strength all at the same time is making Mayweathers team give weight to such accusations. Maybe its just another step up in psychological warfare by team Mayweather. I don't know. All i can do is draw conclusions from the information avaliable and the actions of both teams.
My question?? Why won't team Pacman allow more stringent testing procedures, such as random and extensive blood work, but they will allow any amount of urinalysis? Maybe because HGH cannot be detected in urine??
It just looks dodgy is all im saying. If they agreed to any and all testing procedures and Pac came out clean we could attribute him moving up in weight with ease to the fact he has a large base (ie big calves + upper legs) which allows him to carry the extra weight easier than say a guy like JMM who has a small base (ie small legs).
Guilt is presumed off of rumor and innuendo these days? Want to know what's not a rumor or innuendo, Floyd fighting a legitimate welterweight threat in the past few years, maybe someone can come up with a test for that and force him to take it.
If a rumor is started and it holds no merit, in other words nothing you can point to in a persons past, off of a past history then yes maybe persistent rumors may prove true, then I'd agree with you. But to have someone dictate what you should do based solely off of rumors and innuendo, started by men (Floyd Sr/Roger both of whom rival Napolean Dynamite in intellect) is plain silly.
I've never been a fan of Dan's. ESPN doesn't show boxing much love, and I don't really consider them to have the best writer in the sport. I'd much rather trust the opinion of this website and, say, Jake Donovan - for example. (Not to belittle Dan, a writer who has done more than me, but he's not my favorite.)
Anyway, I don't care who brought the question out into the open - I want it answered now. If Manny complies, and passes the testing, he becomes even easier to root for, no?
No because again and here is the real question...why should he comply? To assuage those who propagate rumor and innuendo? He hasn't done anything, or been found guilty of any impropriety. Listen if he is like Tiger Woods and a voicemail message to Freddy Roach gets leaked with Pac saying "ahhh Freddy it's Pac can you take my name off your phone and just keep it as a number" then test him, until something...anything comes up that shows a hint of impropriety I would tell the other person to go f*ck themselves.
Marquez asked for $5 million and Arum said he overpriced himself. Yet, Arum gave Mosley $5 million
Completely different scenarios. Mosley is a name that has market value, outside of hardcore boxing fans. Marquez could presumably make 5 million, yet his PPV upside is really unknown. I'm sure Arum looked at the PPV numbers of Mosley/Mayweather and came to the obvious conclusion. I don't believe this fight should happen period, however, I'm not going to go crazy overboard like some Mayweather fans who creamed themselves when Mayweather fought Jared from the subway commercial...oops I meant a blown up Marquez.
