Sure, Pacquiao threw more and landed more punches against the master counterpuncher Marquez.
And I'm sure the Pactards would say:
"If Pacquiao, a known pressure fighter and slugger, can out counterpunch one of the greatest counterpunchers of all-time without cheating Marquez by not showing up at the agreed upon catchweight (like Mayweather did) then Pacquiao is one of the most versatile fighters in history."
But isn't it really a sign of stupidity to fight using a style that is not one's own? Again, I acknowledge that Pacquiao threw more and landed more punches using a counterpunching style versus one of the great counterpunchers of all time BUT isn't it egotistical and stupid to fight someone else's fight to begin with?
Fighting, afterall, is not about proving one's versatility but rather finding the most effective method of achieving a win.
Pacquiao fighting Marquez using a counterpunching style was like Joe Frazier getting on his bicycle and doing the Ali shuffle against Ali and winning. Just plain stupid even if Frazier won a close controversial decision.
