Sure, Pacquiao threw more and landed more punches against the master counterpuncher Marquez.
And I'm sure the Pactards would say:
"If Pacquiao, a known pressure fighter and slugger, can out counterpunch one of the greatest counterpunchers of all-time without cheating Marquez by not showing up at the agreed upon catchweight (like Mayweather did) then Pacquiao is one of the most versatile fighters in history."
But isn't it really a sign of stupidity to fight using a style that is not one's own? Again, I acknowledge that Pacquiao threw more and landed more punches using a counterpunching style versus one of the great counterpunchers of all time BUT isn't it egotistical and stupid to fight someone else's fight to begin with?
Fighting, afterall, is not about proving one's versatility but rather finding the most effective method of achieving a win.
Pacquiao fighting Marquez using a counterpunching style was like Joe Frazier getting on his bicycle and doing the Ali shuffle against Ali and winning. Just plain stupid even if Frazier won a close controversial decision.
And Diaz got KTFO.
Diaz didn't knew how to handle the pressure, gets easily bothered by the cut
if he persevered in that fight, he could've won
i thought Diaz had his moments earlier until he got cut
At the end of the day Pac vs JMM III was the same Pac we all watched vs JMM II. Nothing changed other than irreverent/losing opposition that made Pac appear to be better than many believed.
Put Pac back in the with shyt oppostion and certain people will start to think he's great again. That's called good promoting and Bob Arum is one hell of a good promoter!
going into the 3rd fight with JMM, i thought Pac would bring it aggressively like what Juan Diaz did during his 1st fight with JMM
instead he reverted back to his style he used during their 2nd fight and thus same result: controversy
Pac should've pressured more, at least a we could've had a different result

I see no reason why boxers can't use all kinds of styles in the ring. Even more stupid is to say that Pacquiao can't counterpunch. Cotto and Mosley hit the canvas with counters as far as recent memory. Pac's memorable fight scenes were when he's on the ropes. He can fight both on the inside and outside. So he's not always the aggressor in his fights.
Apparently, he doesn't shine when he's the only one coming forward like in the Marquez 4. Not to mention Mosley and Clottey fights
:usa:
Pacquiao didn't out counter Marquez... it's pretty obvious to anyone who saw the fight
even with your obvious Pacquiao worship thread where you're trying to pretend to criticize pacquiao but in reality you created this thread with an agenda to glorify him.
