Spinks is a great boxer, that happens with anytime a fighter fights a guy with good footwork they look piss poor...In Taylors case whats the excuse for his fight with Ouma? Spinks could be to blame but Taylor has sucked as of late and his not living up to being "the future of the middleweight division"....
Im using Sopcast on my laptop...Its chinese and I think they analyzing Miranda vs Pavlik...Who knows WTF is going on...American stream would be nice but screw paying half a months price just to subscribe to HBO.
well I can see you are a Spinks fan, and that's cool. I think Cory is a great boxer. As for JT, he is Dibella'ss(misspell intended) guy and will be push because he beat the guy who beat the guy..ad nauseum. If he doesn't fight Pavlik next(I think he will), he should fight Joe because according to him he wants the $$ and Wales will come out in droves to see this fight. Lou Dibella needs to put down his bank statement and matzoball soup and make Calzaghe-Taylor!!!
I am a Spinks fan but I am not slow to bash a fighter I like. I know Spinks draws a lot of criticism and I even lay it on him sometimes but I am not a nuthugger of him..Just appreciate his boxing skills and willing to acknowledge and accept defeat. But moving along...Taylor showed no class Saturday IMO by publicly stating its all about the money..Everyone knows its about the money but being a champion and trying to respect the sport like Jermain says he does he shouldnt be blatant about it and say it like that...Jermain lost respect from me as a champion by saying that...But Spinks isnt a draw outside of St. Louis we all know that. But Jermain believes in his fights with Hopkins and Wright he has star power now. But after his showing in Memphis by the boos and the turnout of the crowd and even the cheering for Cory (because he was the most active) Taylor is anything but a draw and to think to find this guy fighting on PPV scares me...Because it will be just to cover his purse which he isnt deserving of...Plus if he truly wants Calzaghe, Frank Warren and Joe just got leverage to have the fight in their backyard since its all about the money and they need to go where it will generate the most.
You saw the best Taylor could do against Spinks. Who has he ever soundly beaten?? Please don't bring up the has-beens or never was. His record is padded. What is he gonna do if, as he's hoping Calzaghe really hasn't slowed down. Fight Pavlik or Miranda? Nah!! I'll bet he'll skip over them and fight another nobody as long as they'll keep giving him 1-6 million a fight. Maybe a rematch with Spinks?? You know so he can really prove this time he's the best middlewight in the world, maybe even the best ever!! HeY maybe he can call Hagler out of retirement.
A rematch with Spinks would be diastrous...Even though Taylor was hitting harder I actually had the fight scored for Spinks because of him being so active...Not being biased but seriously Taylor just stood their looking at him while Spinks was moving around the ring and pot shotting him...The 12th round was just stupid for Cory and Taylor..I was embarrassed to be a Spinks fan during that 12th round.
I can actually see Taylor looking at the Winky/Hopkins winner as his next opponent...If Dibella wants to milk that cash cow he better stay away from Calzaghe...Calzaghe will own him in 6.

Im not hating and he should be enshrined but I say dont rush it...Make it the main attraction next year...If they do it this early it will look like they are doing it just for publicity and to push attendance....It would be a great idea to enshrine him their and this year...But I still think it could wait, not because he wasnt a true warrior in the ring but because these things usually generate bad publicity and it gets turned around on the organization just trying to cash in and make a buck.
My regards and prayers go out to the Corrales family and friends.
Greg Leon knows nothing...Thats a fact he is a leech!
The speed is still undetermined go ahead call the LVPD they said he was going faster than 35 but the results of his speed are not determined yet...Fact is he was speeding but shouldnt be frowned upon....
I knew this would get a negative spin...Years from now we are going to get a book or a story about how he had one of the greatest fights in recent times and was plagued with problems inside and outside of the ring lived on the edge and got killed while going through "rough times"...
Shit can happen to anybody, doesnt make me feel less sad by the fact he died because he was speeding or what have you....
Diego left lasting impressions....
really UFC in general but Mayweathers mouth helped. Now all we need is another Tysonesque heavy to capture the imaginations of the general public!
We got one in Lamon to bad he is about as exciting as paint drying on the wall when it comes to talking and media appearances...
Lamon is our man in america...Perhaps Shannon Briggs...I would say we got Wlad but nobody in the U.S. actually enjoys a big russian giant smacking people around...We want to see Americans smack around other people...
Lamon is our man...Now only if he would get someone to give him some personality.
mayweather's mouth is an absoute gem for boxing, but I just wish he wouldve backed it up in the ring, if not with results then at least with trial and error.
I dont think you can back it up anymore than Mayweather did...He clowned Oscar basically luring him in and smacking him with precision at will...Just because he isnt a hard puncher he still landed leather on Oscar basically everytime he threw a punch...You cant expect a fighter to change their style just because of one fight...
It doesnt take much to trash a bike made of cheap fiberglass and plastic...
Seeing this pic and the news coverages just makes it set in and seem really bad...I found out during lunch yesterday with the misses and we honestly shed a tear at our table...
Sad days.
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Spinksjinx! Whats up!! :wtf:
Relaxing man, finished up with a bunch of stuff and just take a few months off to relax and ready to talk boxing again....
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Spinksjinx! Whats up!! :wtf:
Thats good that your back. Feels like old times on here right now. All we had to do now is get Zabkillsspinks back...You think Cory has a chance against Jermain Taylor?
Being a Spinks fan I would like to think so...If the ring is big enough and Spinks can stay light on his feet maybe...But remember he got knocked out by Zab Judah I can only imagine the terror that Jermain would bring to him..He better be quick is all I can say and be on his bicycle if he wants to last...Its a big mismatch but being a fan I keep hope alive since Taylor isnt incredibly fast anymore.
I dont think he was faking it. I took a shot like that in the gym once, it doesnt physically hurt really bad but all the air in your body just leaves and it feel like you can do nothing about it but keel over. When Oscar went down from that I said to myself "I know that feeling."
I think Oscar threw his fight against Trinidad. Everyone said no no, he ran out of gas. My question is, if he ran out of gas then why was he dancing around the ring for four rounds to get away from Tito? Cuz people who are tired dont do that. He dominated the first half to show people he's the better boxer and he toyed the second half to throw it away. I dont even care if Oscar and Tito have a rematch anymore.
Oscar didnt throw that fight dont be stupid...Oscar believed he was ahead more than 3 rounds and figured he could cruise and at least one judge would toss him a round or two....
They are scrapping the bottom of the barrell lately for inducties, trust me he will make it in the Hall. Have you noticed some on the past lists lately.
True because of the lack of stars boxing is creating for themselves...But it will get better in a few more years when Tyson/Lennox/Holyfield and others of the great 80s/90s generation are eligible.
But I wouldnt necessarily call Whitaker/Duran/Lopez exactly bottom of the barrel and is a good list of inductees IMO.
He won't be fresh on minds next year use your head, it won't happen if not now. It will be another five. The tickets for ibhof have been bought months in advance mate.
And that is exactly what I said what is wrong with inducting him so fast..Everyone will forget next year or lose interest? Thats just sad to even think that because Diego left refreshing and lasting memories for the sport. He gave it a shot in the arm when it needed it 2 years ago.
I dont think he took a dive or a fix was in. The only reason it really gets questioned so much is because Oscar and Bernard became lovers afterwards....
Fact is I think the shot hurt him look at Gatti vs Leija for example. The only thing I dispute is that I feel Oscar could have gotten back up but didnt because he knew he was to deep in over his head and didnt need a beating like Bernard gave Tito or Joppy.
Please explain the reasoning behind Oscar throwing the fight with Bernard...What benefit did Bernard actually bring to the table.
Now if in Oscar's contract they had a stipulation if he lost X amount of fights he was released that would be believable...But in all seriousness explain why he would throw the fight especially with a subpar attraction known as Bernard Hopkins?
PBF can be a clown, but it's all part of the show. In Baldi fight, he came out looking like Marvin the Martian in that stupid giant gladiator outfit wearing pink gloves....was he disrespectful to homo cartoon characters everywhere? Haha. If you're gonna offend a nationality, I think it's real disrespectful when you boo national anthem...and Latino's have done that many times.
Now thats not cool he wore them in honor of breast cancer awareness month and donated the gloves to charity for breast cancer...Wow get a clue.
The delayed response happens with a body shot like that...Have someone hit you where he got hit and you will see it takes a few seconds for the pain to set in...Happened to me many times.
is it spinks who moving up to middleweight to take on taylor, is it mayweather? or is it somebody else?
Its Mayweather...DLH was the current reigning 154 pound champ.
I didn't know that. I had thought it was kind of ***-ish myself to be honest. Good stuff though
No it was for breast cancer...I think Monte Barrett did it as well...
The only boxer I know who actually wore pink gloves aside from females just because they liked them was The Pink Pounder..A lot of articles about him years ago for being openly gay and blah blah blah...
I dont care what anyone says Hatton vs Mayweather is still my superfight and the similarities between Lamotta vs Robinson are their...Now that would be a good series of fights...Oscar was not his toughest and was never going to be, you have to be a lot more aggressive than what he was to scratch Mayweather.
Hatton has the tools...Well at least he did.
No it was a Mexican holiday..Plus I am sure he did it because it was the biggest fight of his career against a latino on a latin holiday and his uncle use to do it all the time....
Nothing disrespectul just showmanship....
It's still a big blow to any boxing fan, myself included.
I'm just saying that if he was going 100mph no matter what type of accident he might have had, it would've resulted in a career-ending injury.
Almost every year, you hear of an athlete who gets into an accident.
Ohh yeah their is no doubt about that. I was just saying it shouldnt be held against up like some people (not saying you) have said..Kind of like "well its his own damn fault" type of deal...
Last time I checked
De La Hoya
Baldomir
Judah
Corley
Castillo
Sosa
Hernandez
Chavez
Corrales
Manfredy
Were all respect top guys...I left out other notables but these were top 5 caliber guys in their respected divisions...Hattons and Calzaghes claim to fame come from Lacy and Tszyu...Thats it.
If Hatton vs Tszyu was fought in American this isnt hate this is the truth he would have been deducted a crazy amount of points or have been dq'd...Its his style and its fun to watch its just a damn shame he doesnt get to use it in America...At least he hasnt in his fights over here so far....Hatton lost his spark IMO.
Mainstream appeal means bigger fights...Its that simple. If boxing was to catch on again we wouldnt see lame mandatories because lets face it everyone wants to get paid and with more people watching that means more jingle in the pocket...If it doesnt make dollars it doesnt make sense is the tune a lot of boxers like to say...With mainstream attention we would see bigger matchups and less mismatches...Im all for it...
Perhaps, still hard to judge how accurate is and if wearing the sensors will effect the performance of the fighters....To many variables can happen but hey anything is better than what we got now...Damn do I hate the scoring system in amateur boxing...Its flat out retarded.
Why are you talking like Daniel Santos beat down Margarito?? Both fights were stopped due to cuts.
Santos was leading on the score cards..Margarito basically came that night as a punching bag...You dont have to knock out your opponents to beat them up..Hopkins has done it his entire career...Santos exposed Margarito...Thats why I bring it up because really who the hell is Daniel Santos?...Yep exactly.
