Did De La Hoya take a dive against Hopkins?

i think it should be described at pussying out. not taking a dive.

He never took a dive but he could of got up.. He put all his effort into banging the canvas while he was down he should of used that effort to get off the floor..

Please explain the reasoning behind Oscar throwing the fight with Bernard...What benefit did Bernard actually bring to the table. Now if in Oscar's contract they had a stipulation if he lost X amount of fights he was released that would be believable...But in all seriousness explain why he would throw the fight especially with a subpar attraction known as Bernard Hopkins?

Oscar didnt throw that fight dont be stupid...Oscar believed he was ahead more than 3 rounds and figured he could cruise and at least one judge would toss him a round or two.... First off it's just my opinion, if you dont believe it then thats fine. But a fighter like Oscar whos had so much experience in Las Vegas in the biggest fight of his life (at the time) to just cruise and rely on the judges is just so hard for me to believe. Any boxing fan would say relying on the judges in Vegas in a fight promoted by Arum & King is the dumbest thing you can do, but Oscar never thought that? I think Oscar could have knocked him out if he wanted to, he was that dominate. Oscar just said after his fight with Mayweather, "as a champion you always wanna get the knockout"; but I guess Tito's smile made him the exception for Oscar. Even after the fight, he felt he was ripped off, it was the first loss of his career and he was smiling taking it very lightly....I just dont buy it.

He might've taken a dive as in gave up, but I can absolutely guarantee you oscar would never throw a fight at that point in his career. Even the idea of him "giving up" is unlikely, as he was ahead on most scorecards at the time and you know he would have loved to have used the judges as an excuse if he lost a UD.

Did he take a dive against Hopkins? He not only took a dive, he should have gotten an "Oscar" for the performance ! Two hours later they are business partners ------ hmmm..... Lets be honest though, there is no real evidence that Oscar took a dive. Its all speculation. I speculate that Oscar did not take a dive. I can't imagine Bernard Hopkins asking Oscar to lose so he can join Golden Boy. Just can't see it. I also can't see Oscar losing on purpose ecspecially when he was doing good in the fight.
