JuanMa-Mtgawa MUST be on any top-10 list for 2009. That was a GREAT fight, as JuanMa was pushed much further than expected and needed to dig deep to win.
Cortez is ridiculously inconsistent. He never allows in-fighting during some bouts, constantly meddling. Then he was asleep at the switch last night on Acosta's third knockdown.
Joltin' Joe needs to add one more adjective to his "fair but firm" mantra: Incompetent.
How he earned a spot in Canastota is beyond me.
Thurman's honesty about being hurt was refreshing, especially coming one week after we received a wheelbarrow full of BS from Broner after his lopsided loss to Pacquiao.
I've been a massive fan. I doubt it will stay committed to boxing though. As with other countries, DAZN will buy the rights to other sports and become a general sports app.
Which is 100 percent fine, providing even more value for money.
This isn't like terrestrial or cable TV, which only has a limited number of bandwidth slots to fill. DAZN can stream just as many fights as it does now, if not more, and still have room for as many sports for which it can buy the rights.
Streaming doesn't have airwave slots. It can stream all it wants. Just look at the number of events that ESPN+ televises concurrently and look at how many shows and movies you can watch at any time on Netflix. That's exactly what DAZN wants to do.
David Benavidez vs Andrade is a damn good fight.
Is it? Boo Boo will run all night, and Benavidez isn't skilled enough to chase him down or cut off the ring. This fight has a ton of boredom potential.
PPV? Are you kidding me?
It seems like boxing is more addicted to soaking its fans than ever with all of these BS PPVs in early 2019. Broner-Pacquiao and now this garbage.
Why are we being asked to pay for ESPN+ if ESPN is saving its so-called best fights for PPV?
No sport in North America makes it tougher to be a fan than boxing. None.
It's trending at over 400k in buys right now. I think they did fine without you lol
Many stupid people with their money in this country. Just look at the bankruptcy rates.
The blueprint for this fight is so easy to write.
Khan is a fast starter, and Bud is a slow starter. So Khan will look competitive in the first five rounds, even winning one or two with his speed.
But Bud will figure out Khan by the fifth, and the end will be up to him. Crawford either will shatter Khan's glass jaw by the seventh or choose to string out Khan and punish him until a late stoppage. It all depends on how much Khan shoots off his mouth during the pre-fight buildup.
There's absolutely no doubt the criticism of his boring style has struck a truthful nerve with Stevenson. I've never heard a guy talk more about his "pleasing style" after a dominant-but-boring win since Mayweather.
Crowd-pleasing fighters are finishers, Shakur. You are NOT a finisher.
So, this is how DAZN justifies $25 per month? Adding "Broadway Boxing?"
It's a shame this series couldn't find a home again on a cable network or a streaming service with more eyeballs than the giant swindle known as DAZN. Lou always makes good fights. It's a shame few will see this because DAZN is such a sh*tshow.
My favorite ref. He let inside fighters fight inside without meddling. He also deeply cared about fighters but had an innate sense of when a guy was in danger or just hurt and could recover.
You knew Double S never would interfere with a quality fight. He let fighters do their thing. I also loved how he often kissed losing fighters on the cheek, explaining to them he was trying to protect them when he stopped their fights.
Rest in power.
If Ellerbe is such a power player as a promoter, why does Tank want to leave Mayweather Promotions?
Just go to the Mayweather Promotions website and look at its fighter lineup. Its second most-prominent fighter behind Tank is Rolie Romero. What a joke.
Ellerbe is a total clown who wouldn't have a career if not for being Floyd's boy.
no. they always having other top guys there. and its hard to stay on top when you fight 4 times a year against true top guys. that is why boxers stay on top so long. fight 2x yr. and lackluster competition. that is one big reason why ufc has taken a large portion of our boxing fans imo
Really? O'Malley has fought once in the last 10.5 months. So, does he have three fights scheduled in the next six weeks?
Puh-leeze. This guy is the flavor of the month. He won't be anything in UFC land within two to three years. Nobody stays a decade-long star in the current UFC or White will need to pay them, and we all know he hates to do that.
Weeks, the ring doctor and Jack's corner should be ashamed. All three would be censured if the sport had a legitimate, responsible governing body.
It would be one thing to let Jack continue if he was close to victory or close on the cards. He was getting mauled.
Gross negligence by Weeks, the doc and Jack's corner.
This fight illustrates EVERYTHING that's wrong with boxing. Neither of these guys are PPV draws -- not even close. The general population has ZERO clue who either is.
So, what does the #boxing business do? Put this fight on PPV. It won't clear 200K buys. Nice job, boxing, which always looks for the short-term cash grab over long-term growth.
Rigo fought a bum last night, but he did look much more aggressive than in the past. He used more of a pro style, attacking and also going to the body more often.
Gasp -- this was the first time I've EVER been entertained by watching Guillermo Rigondeaux. Would like to see him again if he fights in this same style.
