Keith Thurman returned from a near two-year layoff to retain his World Boxing Association welterweight world title with a 12-round majority decision over Josesito Lopez on Saturday. America's Thurman, showing no sign of rust, knocked down Lopez with a massive left hook to the chin in the second as he controlled the early rounds. He weathered a storm in the middle rounds, with Lopez unleashing a fierce barrage in the seventh that had the champion in trouble. Click Here To Read More]
Thurman's honesty about being hurt was refreshing, especially coming one week after we received a wheelbarrow full of BS from Broner after his lopsided loss to Pacquiao.
if Manny fought Thurman last night Manny KO's him
Very possible. So the question remains if they fight next, will that same Thurman show up? Or a better version? That is why it is an interesting fight.
I think Porter, Spence, or Crawford win if any of those are next for Thurman. But Pac? Really fun.
Most knowledgeable fans figured Lopez would give Thurman some fits considering Keith is coming off a long layoff and Josesito is a gamer. Lopez survives the early KD to hurt Keith and make it a close run thing; closer than we maybe anticipated.
In my opinion, Thurman is similar to a high performance sports car. When he's on his precision, mobility, athleticism and power make him an excellent stick and move sharpshooter - capable of beating almost anyone. However, if he's not fit or doesn't have his timing then his performance dramatically plummets. He's beaten alot of good names but can really struggle when his game is off or when he's in with a rugged inside fighter. He has heart and skills but he's fragile and high maintenance.
Lol he was literally injured during the Collazo fight. Teddy Atlas even mentions it during the broadcast. His left hand was injured.
I also heard Thurman during the Collazo fight had cancer diabetes blinded in both eyes and hodgkins disease. how did Thurman win that fight?
Yes, people pretend like Thurman is injured his whole career.

Many of you see this all wrong. Lopez was a real strong contender. Thurman hit him with everything in the book. Lopez gave his all where most would quit like that big sorry heavy weigh on the under card. Thurman will beat Spence. He ain't quick enough to return fire.
that is a bunch of horse s hit. Lopez is shot and Maidana KO'd Lopez in a great fight when Lopez was in his prime. Thurmans people knew Lopez was a shot fighter that is why they picked him and got burned. The Lopez that fought Maidana KO's thurman

I'll be easy on him, he got the win like he was supposed to and he was able to fight back when he needed to, to get the W. To be as hurt as was and still have the will power to keep fighting and not giving up under pressure says a lot about the character of a champion!
I don't think Thurman has the power to stop guys at the elite level. I mean Andre Berto of all people stopped Lopez lol I get Thurman was coming off a 22 month layoff but he couldn't take advantage of those wide looping punches to KO Lopez. I mean Lopez telegraphed about every punch he threw and Keith goes by "One Time".. He needs to learn how to hold when he's hurt if the time ever comes he faces Spence or Crawford that jogging around the ring technique won't work.
All you're saying to me is that Keith has faced and knows how to handle adversity.
Can't say the same about Spence. He's only faced a pre-battered Brook. Hasn't taken any actual challenges.
Exactly, these dudes hold onto every little hiccup and ignore the overall picture. Dude was moving from round 1 through round 12 last night, his chin got tested and held up, and he outboxed dude in every round except for a couple against a guy who was motivated and had a great game plan. This reminded me of the Bud - Benavidez fight.

F#ck man not a good look for Keith. If he fought Spence next I think he's getting KO'd. I'm not real confident he gets by Porter. And sh^t man I think I'm giving Manny a great chance at beating him too. Keith needs to fight Broner next.
It would be stupid to fight a Spence/Porter off his performance last night. However, I'm fine with Pac/Thurman. Pac may still be a buzzsaw, but he's also 40 years old. That's an opportunity Thurman should jump on.
We can be generous here. 2 years off and major injuries will leave a ton of rust to work off. No reason to doubt Thurman off this win. I am SURE that every active 147 pounder will call him out, seeing a beatable guy. Everyone will want to take the "0" off his record. But I am betting he can regain form in his next fight.
A Manny Pac-Man showdown sure just got more interesting. No way I would be Pacquiao over him, but the general public would sure tune in for it and make them both some coin and Pacquiao might think this is best, big fight out there if no Floyd rematch.
I would be interested. Fun action fight suggested by several other posters on here that excites me way more than most other options for the Senator.
if Manny fought Thurman last night Manny KO's him
remember after 1st Canelo-GGG fight some dumbasses were saying Golovkin missed 500 punches, well, according to punch stats Thurman missed 650 punches (247 of 899)! what will they say now)
being black supremacists they will say nothing. maybe blame it on racism of the compu box officials
Judging by last night I think Keith took that time to try to recover from those wars with Porter and Garcia. Well what ever he was trying to get back from the time off maybe gone forever. On another note Lopez is and has been one of my favorite fighters of the last 8 or so years because I like the way the guy fights. Win lose or draw he brings it and he's entertaining. I was expecting the fight to be a tough out because unless you got real one punch KO power Lopez is a tough out for damn near anyone.
