Wouldnt morrison be far to big for randy to hurt?
I'd pick morrison as he's without a doubt the better hitter but if it goes to the ground it could get intersting. :boxing:
That's what everyone thought when he fought Tim Sylvia, who is 6'8" 260lbs, and he dominated him standing up and on the ground.
Winky fought Hopkins' fight for 12 full rounds... he didn't do anything to change that. Where was the sense of urgency when his eye was cut? Big mistake, and it cost him.
Hopkins and Wright both looked like crap and it was a boring fight for the fans... there were no winners here.
I also forgot to mention that with buyout of Pride, UFC has already started having the "best fight the best" and they plan on continuing down that road. Again, something that boxing will never be able to accomplish consistently with the way it is run now.
For my sake, as a boxing fan, I hope that they adopt the same formula the UFC is using from marketing to matchmaking, but I have to be realistic too, and there are way too many roadblocks for that to happen. IMO, a new independent organization needs to be formed in order to fix boxing. No stupid sanctioning fees, the best fight the best, ONE promoter (which is the organization), etc. Everything that UFC does right, boxing does wrong.
its simple, you like to see blood, people who enjoyed dlh vs pbf are purists, you are not.
If watching two guys play pattycakes with each other for 12 rounds is what "purists" enjoy, I admit, I am not a "purist".
its called boxing you dumb shit.
Really... so that's what you call boxing, huh? Funny, because I just watched "When We Were Kings" last night and you cannot compare the lack of will Mayweather and De La Hoya put on display to, oh, say, the Ali and Foreman fight that I watched. After all, Mayweather and De La Hoya are supposed to be two of boxing's all time greats, right? Wasn't this fight supposed to rejuvenate boxing and bring it back to the forefront of sports. Heh, it couldn't have been much more of a failure to do so!
Now Pavlik and Miranda... that was boxing, and one hell of an entertaining fight. If you tell me that you find a match with two guys circling and slapping hands for 12 rounds as exciting as the Pavlik-Miranda fight... well, I gotta raise an eyebrow.
Seriously, calling that a legit, entertaining match worthy of ticket and PPV prices is part of the reason this sport is in such dire straits and you should be ashamed of yourself for being duped so easily.
Anyway, this thread isn't about the Mayweather-De La Hoya fight that most would agree wasn't even close to living up to the hype, sorry to go off-topic.
The UFC has been around since 1992 and there hasn't been a death yet, so keep on waiting for that to happen. There has only ever been one death in MMA, EVER, and the person that died had some sort of unrelated medical condition before his fight.
How many deaths have their been related to boxing in the past 15 years?
As a boxing and MMA fan, MMA is a much better product than boxing right now. They market it better, the fights are more exciting, and PPV cards are stacked with good fights. None of those three things I mention exist in boxing right now. Did anyone seriously enjoy the Mayweather-De La Hoya snoozefest that was supposed to rejuvenate boxing? Please.
How could someone think it is respectable for either of these two guys to walk away with bucketloads of cash and barely even scrap it out, and demean guys that make much less money, yet step into the cage to slug it out, or choke someone out. Can you be any less intelligent?
I don't understand why people feel the need to draw a line and stand on one side. I watch both sports, I just prefer to see some action, and circling around the ring or watching terrible matchups does not excite me.
