I think Taylor's hungry again, and he definitely won't be the same cocky bastard that underestimated Pavlik last time. I think he'll definitely outbox pavlik, and if he has half a brain left after that KO, he'll bring his jab with him this time. That said, I'm thinking that Taylor will get the decision.
I completely disagree with that
That's because Affirmative Action doesn't exist in your country.
Not trying to stir the pot, but that's just how it is in America. I'm not complaining, because I make my own world for myself, and I don't care who says what and I'm not one to get offended by racial slurs or certain privileges for certain ethnicities. It is what it is, and that's that.
Oh, and I'll apologize in advance if I took your post out of context.
taylor did the best he could in the last fight and still got knocked the fuck out. jermain looked better than he did against hopkins, because this time around he really won some rounds and it didn't matter, pavlik still knocked him the fuck out. what makes u think anything different is going to happen this time around. pavlik by KTFO, this time he'll knock jermain right through the ropes
Man, I really don't think that Taylor showed his best at all. I think he was obviously out of his comfort zone. I think that's apparent by the fact that he didn't finish Pavlik in the 2nd. I guarantee it wasn't because anything Pavlik did - No, it was what Taylor DIDN'T do. Taylor didn't keep his cool, and he got way too excited, and his nerves just caused him to be all spastic instead of deadly and accurate.
Plus, I don't think that JT handled the pressure from Manny very well at all, not in any of the fights that they trained together for. I think it was a mismatch that just happened to work out in Pavlik's favor, and that won't be the case for the rematch.
Taylor hasn't used his jab since his first fight with Hopkins, and that jab is the very punch that won him that fight. He's going back to basics, and the jab will come out if Taylor is to win. If not, well... I'm glad it's Taylor's head in that ring and not mine.
Spinks and Ouma would like to disagree.
If Roy were to beat Jermain, it'd make Bernard look really bad. I don't think he would though.
You think Spinks and Ouma are easy competition? Both are highly skilled boxers, and Ouma is probably the toughest son-of-a-bitch on the face of the planet.
WHAT!?!! Calz doesn't need that bum. Pavlik maybe but JT for me is not an elite fighter. He doesn't have the speed or ability to live with Calz and he doesn't even have much bang at MW let alone SMW or LH!
You're saying that JT doesn't have the speed or ability to bang with Calzaghe, but Pavlik does? Are you sure you don't have your fighters completely backward? If Pavlik didn't have a pressing jab and a hard straight right, he really wouldn't have anything at all.
Sure, that worked on quite the extensive list of BUMS under Pavlik's belt. It worked on a pruned-out and dehydrated Miranda. It worked on a an over-confident, cocky, tense, and awkward Taylor in their first fight. Then again, Pavlik's workrate made it happen again in the second fight, even though Pavlik was looking pretty hurt for the majority of the fight. Tough kid, he is.
But to put him in the same league as Calzaghe? That's laughable. And to say that Taylor is not an elite boxer is almost as humorous. I think Taylor will continue his career and surprise quite a lot of people.
Ya know, some people just have your number... Kinda like Antonio Tarver and Roy Jones Jr. It's the same with Taylor and Pavlik. Pavlik just has his number, but that's about it.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not a hater. I like Pavlik. I respect ALL of his wins, and I think that if he would become a little more versatile and open up his style, he would have a chance against the likes of Kessler and Calzaghe. But as it stands, he's WAY too basic, and I would be surprised if he lasted 5 or 6 rounds with Kessler or Calzaghe. That's just what you get with a one-trick pony like Pavlik.
Taylor, if he could get his conditioning ironed out (which he may... or may not), he could definitely be an honest and legitimate contender for any of the current champs. Until then, I think he needs to keep training his ass off, fight some not-so-elite boxers for once, and work on his technical game and his conditioning a little bit more.
Taylor and Pavlik have bright futures, but both fighters have a long way to go.
