This fight is so pointless. A waste of time. Most will stream it just to see how quickly Khan gets blown out. All Canelo has to do is ignore Khan's pity-pat offense and punch with him. Canelo won't be hurt, Khan will. Once Khan is hurt, finish him. Khan does not move his head and has no defense except for his feet, but while he is punching, he is within range.
And what will this prove? This is just a money grab, and it's amazing that the WBC would even rank Khan in the division (if that's what they are going to do) and sanction this fight. But we all know that they will, because they want their percentage.
Only the IBF strips champions and ignores the payday from big matches. Like they stripped Fury, ahead of his rematch with Klitschko, to try and give the belt to that fraud Glazkov, whose knew gave out in less than 3 rounds. Karma to Glazkov and Kathy Duva for trying to sneak their way into a championship belt.
:rolleyes:The @Canelo @AmirKingKhan PPV did 460k buys, including 145k on Direct & 230k on cable. Story to come soon.— Kevin Iole (@KevinI) May 12, 2016
Like they said, under 600K -
And before the fight, Oscar said it would do about 2mil, but it would be a success if it did 1mil. :pat:
If Wilder is a bum, why not take his belt, get paid a lot of money, and be done with it? Question for all the cats defending AJ, who would you prefer to see AJ fight after his mandatory with Pulev?
Upon a re-watch - I realize that Horn landed a lot of punches to Manny's arms which shouldn't really count as "body shots" and I realize why Compubox didn't score them. If you count punches that were parried and/or hit the outside of Manny's guard then you will score more for Horn than Compubox.
Compubox is two people (one for each fighter) pushing buttons. You (and the name) make it sound like it's some kind of super computer. If judges can be wrong, so could the two people (either one of them or both) pushing the compubox buttons. There is nothing infallible about compubox.
I also don't rate Povetkin as high as some. I saw him get worked against Chambers before Eddie decided to stop fighting (I'll never understand that one, he was making it look easy). And I thought that Huck beat Povetkin. Alexander is slow and gets hit a lot, not a good recipe if you are fighting Wilder, who is faster than anyone Povetkin has faced since Chambers, and a lot rangier. I see Povetkin trying to get inside and paying for it on the way in. But I can't wait to see it, because Wilder definitely is raw and also has holes in his game.
Holy **** !
I didn't realize until I watched the replay of that video. Ortiz was counted out early! I really didn't put too much stock in the people who were saying that Ortiz should have been allowed to continue but after seeing that video it's clear that Ortiz was counted out early. I thought it was just Wilder haters that were saying that, but I was absolutely wrong!
Ortiz was hit exactly when there was 6 seconds left in the round and he hit the canvas when there was 5 seconds left in the round. He beat the count (and it was a very fast count by the ref). Damn, this does seem a bit shady! After seeing the replay I really believe Ortiz should have been allowed to continue. I'm a bit shocked that I missed the whole timing of the knock down and the fine details of it! I can't help but feel there was something corrupt about that.
No, Ortiz' gloves were still on the ground when the ref reached 10. The Ref said 9, and then when he reached 10, he waved it off (without actually saying 10) and Ortiz was still bent over with his gloves touching the ground. Ortiz did not beat the count, tho he tried. He's just looking for another excuse, but that's his pride. He should've avoided that right hand, or KO Wilder first. He gave a good fight tho.
LMAO...sure OK. Loma is going to pick Rigo apart and overwhelm him with angles, speed and combinations. Rigo is a 1-2 puncher who admires his work after throwing. He'll get countered and frustrated...look for him to attempt to use the ref to help him out or get him out of the fight. After Loma heats up, he'll swamp Rigo with punches, wouldn't be surprised to see Rigo get DQ'd for illegal punches once he realizes he can't win.
thats the other thing, rigo throws 10 punches a round. he will be overwhelmed by lomas activity, coming at him faster than he has ever faced, from all angles from a guy with power and reach. good night sweet prince with that chin of his and he dont have the activity to back loma off him.
These predictions sound just like the Mayweather-Pacquiao predictions before their fight. All that activity slows way down when accurate hard counters start coming your way. Then we will see what happens when Loma gets frustrated.
I really hope Arum is not blowing smoke and this fight happens, I literally can't wait. If Loma walks thru Rigo, fair play, but I'll believe that when I see it. I think a lot of people don't really want to see this fight. Because based on the disadvantages of Rigo moving up two weight classes, and the current hype surrounding Loma (better than Ali, Floyd, etc.), it's going to be very embarrassing if Loma loses.
exactly what i was thinking. uk refs suck dick.
Yea, cats pretty much have to win definitely against the home fighters in the UK (i.e., Jones vs Bradley, Burns vs Crawford, and even there the score cards were crap), or by stoppage (i.e., Brook vs Spence). Pretty much all fights that are remotely close are going to the hometown fighter.
Stiverne has been very inactive. He's only fought once since the loss to Wilder and hasn't been in the ring since a decision victory over Derric Rossy in November of 2015....
Initially it appeared that the WBC would order a final eliminator between Stiverne and Luis Ortiz, who is ranked at number two - but now the sanctioning body has decided to go in another direction.]
If Stiverne has done nothing since loosing to Wilder, then why is a rematch being ordered? Why is Stiverne even high in the rankings if he is not fighting anyone?
Clearly someone paid the WBC to ignore Ortiz and 'oder' the rematch. This is BS!
Rigo vs Frampton
It's time for El Chacal vs. The Jackal. It's got to happen. Quigg is not in Frampton's class.
Edit: Frampton said that Frampton-Quigg is the biggest fight in the UK, but actually Khan-Brook is much bigger.
Thats great for boxing but the lead in Floyd/Pac fight is what did it.
I agree. They can dog the MayPac fight if they want, but without that lead-in I doubt Canelo-Kirkland does those numbers. So Alvarez and GB should be happy that Mayweather chased them off of the May 2nd date that Canelo originally wanted.
I hope he fights GGG or Froch and gets hammered some more.
It's too late for that. I'm sure Froch was sitting home watching and pissed off. "Damn! There goes my money."
The ringcard girl is gorgeous but I digress. Crawford is a helluva fighter and should move up n take on Thurman, Spence and maybe McGregor after he ko's Mayweather. Ok, last part was a bit of a joke, though imagine if that had to happen.
Her name is Tianna Jacqlyn Tuamoheloa, and yes, she is killin'!!
I won't say much about that decision. Hughie got lucky, Kassi was coming for him.
I agree, Hughie really was not looking that good. He did win, but like you said, Kassi was coming on. I've seen people fight with way worse cuts, they seemed like they wanted to get him Hughie out of there before something bad happened. That last few rounds Hughie was starting to get tagged.
Stop talking nonsense. Pac's team (and his fans) always tell the truth, and never make excuses for Manny.

"Arum's Got 99 Excuses, But The Split Ain't One"
Being on the record is always comes back to haunt you. In hindsight, this fighthype article is a classic.
Hmmm, the force is not so strong in this one.
I'm not sure what he was expecting?
This is pride talking. And we also have to take into account that Szpilka clearly isn't the brightest bulb in the room.
Things did not work out too well. Never look past your opponent. Abdukakhorov talked all the stuff and lost his mandatory shot. He should've taken his shot long ago, although his beating would've been worse with Spence.
Why do people keep bringing up that Kell had an injury when he quit. When someone repeatedly punches you in the face and brakes your eye socket that is not considered and injury. He quit because he couldn't take Spence punching him in the same face that Spence broke. Brook didn't trip and injure his eye, his eye was broken by Spence.
Exactly!!! It's not like injuring your shoulder or something when you threw a punch. The eye was broken by Spence, and Spence made Brook quit, not an unrelated injury. Just like Loma made Rigo quit. There are difference circumstances, but both fighters quit in situations where many other fighters would have continued.
have you seen breazeale fight before? He's the real deal and will give AJ his first loss.
Yes, I have certainly seen Breazeale fight, which is why I know this is a mismatch. His fight with Amir Mansour alone was enough to let me know that he has no chance, let alone his fight with Fred Kassi. Breazeale was very lucky to get past Mansour, he was losing that fight bad before Mansour retired.
He said nothing was wrong with his shoulder right before the fight that it happened during the fight .
WHY DID HE ASK FOR A SHOT OF TORADOL WHEN NOTHING WAS WRONG ?
Obvious right. But, you are gonna get attacked for making way too much sense. #NoLogicAllowed
i used to be a big fan, but boxing is truly a mediocre sport to be honest. i will watch the big meaningful fights and meaningful fighters like wlad, froch, rigo and pacquiao. but other than that boxing is truly a fringe niche bottom of the barrel sport. it has been ruined by corrupt people like haymon and it's no longer watchable many times.
after manny and wlad retire i'm going to stop watching this sport.
Do us all a favor and retire now. Since you've already stated that you've lost interest in the sport, then why are you here. Unless you like wasting your time?
He said they are two of the biggest names in the heavy weight division then later on states that no one knows who Wilder is!! He can't be considered a big name and unknown at the same time smh. Then bellew said the fight has to be built up but later says if it happened next it would be a big fight!! Yet contradicting himself again lol hahaha.... Tony next time just say AJ can fight any opponent and sell out a stadium!! Leave out the excess bull crap lol
I clicked on the comment section to say exactly what you said here. The excuses are ridiculous. Wilder is a threat, this is the real problem. AJ's team is waiting for Deontay to start slipping. Meanwhile, the refs will keep stopping AJ's fights early to keep his KO streak going.
