AMIR KHAN said he accepted the fight with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in a ‘heartbeat’ – and it could be the fight that makes him one of Britain’s best ever.
The Bolton boxer certainly believes a shock win over the much bigger - and more fancied - Alvarez will make sure his doubters are silenced and his place in British boxing history is cemented.

Not even close, are you from Ghana since you're called Mzembe? Incidentally, why do you put "------------------------------------------" before your posts?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Seems you don't know how to use Google. Mzembe is just an avatar and it's not a word from Ghana. Do you even know where Ghana is?
Clearly I was right about you. Let me take a wild guess, your last name is either Khan or Choudhry or Baloch or Butt and you def are from Karachi.
You need to focus on cricket as it's your national past time. You and all the other Karachi fellows are into boxing because of Amir Khan, period.
You sound like a racist hater.
Gatti, Cotto, ODLH, Judah - all guys that were out of their primes when Floyd fought them.
Baldomir? The guy only fights in one direction: straight ahead. He's a one trick pony.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
My stereotype about you people is all true. Nothing racist about it.
As for Gatti, he was a legitimate belt holder at 140 at the time Floyd fought him. He was the top draw in America in that division.
Cotto is younger than Floyd and started boxing much later than Floyd so how is he out of his prime?
Oscar was almost the same age as Floyd and held belts at 154Ibs so how was he past his prime? You can say that about him when he fought Pacman.
Judah was a belt holder when Floyd fought him in 2006. When did Khan fight Judah? Almost 8 years after Floyd had fought him so you are ok with Khan fighting a washed up Judah but it's a problem when Floyd fights them??
Baldomir was a legitimate belt holder and speaking of one trick pony, how is that any different from your boy Khan??
Dude, I can bet anything with you that you only started following boxing after your cousin from Islamabad showed up on the shores of Bolton. Prior to that you were busy watching Indian movies or watching cricket.
Check your facts before you write crap here. We don't speak Urdu here
This fight is so pointless. A waste of time. Most will stream it just to see how quickly Khan gets blown out. All Canelo has to do is ignore Khan's pity-pat offense and punch with him. Canelo won't be hurt, Khan will. Once Khan is hurt, finish him. Khan does not move his head and has no defense except for his feet, but while he is punching, he is within range.
And what will this prove? This is just a money grab, and it's amazing that the WBC would even rank Khan in the division (if that's what they are going to do) and sanction this fight. But we all know that they will, because they want their percentage.
Only the IBF strips champions and ignores the payday from big matches. Like they stripped Fury, ahead of his rematch with Klitschko, to try and give the belt to that fraud Glazkov, whose knew gave out in less than 3 rounds. Karma to Glazkov and Kathy Duva for trying to sneak their way into a championship belt.
Brook's win over Porter is as impressive, if not more so, than any of Khan's wins. Think about it, what's Khan's best win? Squeaking past Maidana (who'd already lost to Kotelnik), nearly getting knocked out in the process (ref could've justifiably stopped it in the 10th)? Kell beating an unbeaten Porter, in America, is as impressive if not more so than that win.
Brook beating Porter as the "away" fighter was a bit of a surprise really.
A very good win and the best on his record - by far!
However, he has done absolutely nothing to capitalise and build on it since.
Whether that is his or his promoters fault, I don't know.
Brook needed Khan more than Khan needed him.
That is the reality.
Brook probably needs to get back on the road and fight either Garcia or winner of Thurman/Porter.
I hear that he may move up to 154 instead.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
And you are probably a fan boy from Bolton or maybe Peshawar or Karachi
. . . and the classics keep on playin'!
Everyone is saying that Khan deserves props for taking the fight and I disagree. He'll get props off me if he manages to put in a performance against Canelo, hell he'll get props off me for taking the fight past the 3rd round. Until then he's get the props he deserves with his tainted victories, his wins against big names that are over-the-hill and his losses against every decent fighter he's fought in their prime. He thinks he has the speed to outbox Canelo and the power to potentially knock him out. Khan is deluded and going to get himself hurt. I'm expecting his legs to turn to jelly the first time he's caught and the fight to be over in the 1st round, Khan is nothing more than a pinata for the Cinco de Mayo weekend.
AMIR KHAN vs. Canelo??!?!?!?!
Lmaoooo wtf. This cherry-picking mother ****er is ducking GOLOVKIN TO FIGHT A GUY TWO WEIGHT CLASSES BELOW?????
and u guys gonna tell me that GGG is not being ducked by the whole world ???? lolllllll
Does anyone actually WANT Khan to win? Not that it isn't cool to see people pull out huge upsets, but I want to see Canelo vs GGG.
If Khan lasts all twelve rounds (or even just nine or ten rounds), that alone will look impressive as hell, but I don't want him to win.
Now they want GGG, those guys are jokes. Brook has only fought one fighter that is world class. No wonder Khan wanted 80
LMAO!
Since when is 155 not a catchweight?
Huh? You clown!
If he's still working on the second part his not too done badly, Olympic medallist at 17, championship fights at 140lb's, fame and celebrity, 30 Million already in the Bank, plenty more Millions on the way. All before the age of 30.
And an army of jealous losers on the internet who have accomplished Zilch in their lives.30 million in the bank? You must be kidding.
Khan is a fcking idiot. Firstly, Wembley holds 80,000, not 90,000. Secondly, Froch only made 8 mill from the Groves rematch, so how does Khan figure he's worth 10 million +? This fight isn't even as big as Froch-Groves II. Best you can hope for is it's comparable to that fight, which was a perfect storm. I swear this guy must have idiotic yes-men in his ear round the clock to think he's worth that much. When his previous highest payday was what, 1.5 million or something?
I'm glad to see Khan is confident , I think Khan will perform ok until it's obvious to him it's a mismatch.
It seems that Canelo does not function at his best with fast boxers such as Floyd so there is a little hope in that department even though Khan is not nearly as savvy as Floyd.
Khan will not have his usual luxury of pushing down and pushing off and when he tries to grab he will be busted up , Canelo is far too strong to let this nonsense happen often.
Once Khans mosquito type attacks have subsided which will probably be quicker than most seem to think and Canelo starts letting go and timing this a lot of folk are going to realise that taking a dodgy chin up many divisions is not always the best idea.
I ultimately think the wow factor will belong to Canelo but then I don't think he'll get much credit for doing a job that's already been done by much smaller fighters.
Canelo has it all to lose, even if he were to blow away Khan as Prescott did people would still say so what.
Should Khan even look good for an uncomfortable period he'd been seen as a winner.
I suppose what's been done before can be done again ......I just don't think it will be by Amir Khan.
