I believe Crawford is on top right now but if triple g gets a signature win that will change. Yes a lot of the top fighters(excluding Ward) are running from him but until he gets a signature we just cant have him over Crawford. To me if he dominates Lara I would consider that a signature win. If he beats Brook I wont knock him because Brook took the fight but I wont consider it a signature win.
The ATG discussion is for children or real boxing experts who have seen all the great fighters in many fights & know a ton about the guys who there isn't tape of. Manny was one of the best fighters of this era & thats the best anyone can be in boxing is the reality. And losing a couple fights post-prime doesn't change anything.
This is exactly how I look at the atg debate. When you become one of the greats you just walk that same platform. I dont believe in the greatest of all time
Why have you suddenly turned so drastically on Brook, Frankie?
You used to have his picture in your avatar a few months ago.
I what you're going to reply with - I turned on Khan. Yes I did but I had legitimate reasons. He ducked a huge fight with Brook which everyone wanted to see and would have earned him a lot of money. He has turned into a complete puussy over the past couple of years.
What is your reasoning for turning on Brook? So much so that you now accuse him of being gay, on steroids, losing to Porter etc etc. Even I haven't taken my criticism of Khan as far as to blindly accuse him of being on roids. What's with that?
You have a history of this. You used to hate James DeGale too then you suddenly act as if you're his biggest fan recently. You also used to be a big Froch supporter now you call him a ducker?
Are you genuinely bi-polar or schizophrenic because you know I've always had my suspicions?
Peoples opinions change of fighters all the time. To call someone bi-polar for chaging there opinion is ridiculous....what does that make you?
I understand him saying that they should wait till the fight grows, but I couldnt tell if he was using mayweather vs pacauiao just as an example or if he honestly believes he can generate the same amount of money against brook because I believe that wont happen for awhile if not ever
Lara brings no money to the table and has a boring style - HBO fans won't watch the fight as much as those other fights... simple as that... if HBO thought Lara was a good fight they would push the fight...
I like his style but I agree his style is not crowd pleasing. I actually think people will watch the fight more than Golovkins other fights. Lara is high risk low reward because of his style. What would make this fight so exciting in my eyes is the same reason why I thought Pacqiao and Mayweather would be interesting. How would Laras defensive style fair against triple g's power-punching swarming style?
Stupid comparison. Come on.
This is like Bradley vs Provodnikov in which Bradley was seen disrespecting and underestimating Provo and thus he was too proud to run. Did you see Bradley do the same when he fought Marquez? Come on.
So are you comparing the highly skilled Gamboa to the siberian rocky. When we heard Gamboa vs Crawford were fighting each other, it was a toss up to who was going to win lets be honest. We knew if Bradley boxed Prov he was winning that fight. Its hilarious to me that Gamboa cant damage Crawford that means he is small, Postol cant damage Crawford he just doesnt have the power. Its just not possible for Crawford to have a good chin...lol
No matter the reasons khan fought canelo, no matter the reason brook wants to fight triple g the fact remains they are doing it. If Khan would have won that fight we would be talking about Khan in a entirely different way.
If Brook beats triple g he beats one of the most dangerous man in boxing, is in the top 3 pound for pound immediately, and deserves respect.
I personally think triple G wins but kudos to Brook for taking the fight.
Crawford was too proud to run against a small blown up Gamboa. Just like Bradley would never treat Provo like he's fighting Marquez. Triangle theories are not to be taken seriously in boxing. They're for casuals. How can he say Gamboa is better when he's running in the Postol fight?
Well see thats the problem right their I thought Crawford boxed well you thought he ran well. He did the same thing that SRL did with Hearns. He moved around then picked his spots to land shots. The diffrence in this fight was skill level thats why you cant compare. I watched Crawford and Gamboa he started getting prideful once he hurt Gamboa. Obviously he wouldnt treat provo like he did Marquez they are two diffrent fighters. He has a diffrent gameplan for everyone he fights. He wanted to box l Provo but thats just the dog in Bradley. Every fighter comes in with a gameplan and Bradley was supposed to box Provo like he did Marquez. I bet you if they fought again he would box more than brawl.
Agreed, with the addition that he must beat Kovalev convincingly! It cannot be close or he will likely come out looking 'lucky'. But let's play devil's advocate and say he beats Kovalev convincingly, he must then continue to challenge himself with undisputed unification and contests against perceived threats out there, or multiple defenses. Otherwise, he falls right back into obscurity, losing belts one by one due to inactivity or defense of the belts.
Here we go, the excuses begin. Andre Ward has to beat one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world "convincingly" or its considered "lucky". Are you kidding me right now?
I've always said Gamboa might have won if they were the same size, he hurt him right before he got stopped.
Can't believe Gamboa wasted his career, he was always fun to watch, shouldn't have skipped the Rios fight and destroyed a great career.
Yeah he might have also won if Crawford was his same size.....but he is not and he still took the fight so please stop with this. You guys see he is going to be a star and are getting ready to hate on him in the future. This man decided to be honest and now people have turned this to a thread of what Yuriorkis Gamboa could have been. This is ridiculous....its like you can see the future.
Hopefully we see alot more action from ward in 2016 because for me I enjoy watching him. He cant please everyone And he needs to know that. He needs to get in there and take care of business
Gamboa is a beast no surprise, the people talking about "Size" are the same dumb fuks who thought Postol was gong to beat Crawford because of size :nonono:
Sucks that Gamboa is stuck in a sh1t contract with 50 Cent, hopefully he can clear that up so he can get active he is 34 and he basically wasted away PRIME YEARS
Yeah he need to be more active he is wasting all that talent. I know he moved down after that Crawford fight but I still think he beats most fighters at 135. I'd like to see him fight Barthelemy or Robert Easter Jr.
if gamboa was your toughest fight.. pac will run circles around you. just ask the guy who hired you as his sparring partner....
Gamboa was his toughest fight and once he fights Pacqiao it will change. I dont get why people are in their feeling because he was being honest. At least he didnt lie because we all know he made easy work of Postol
Errol Spence could move up and hit the GGG sweepstakes if he wants to...Al Haymon didn't pick up the phone though js...
Eubank Jr. another Black fighter ducked a fight btw - I'd say the Black race is definitely number 1 in total number of ducked fights...
Bro can you quit trolling, your first couple of posts you made some good arguments but now your just trolling. Just keep up with the discussion we dont need this race talk.
Clearly.
Gamboa was the better fighter, he was just entirely too small. He was outboxing Crawford with ease (4-1), but weight classes exist for a reason and the size difference changed the fight.
Gamboa was a 126lb fighter up at 135 and Crawford is a big 140lb fighter who drained to 135.
Breh Crawford made adjustments.....stop trying to take away from his victories. He made adjustments like he always does after 3-4 rounds. They both made weight so I dont want to hear that "he is too small" bs. If Gamboa knocked him out we wouldnt be hearing this.
Khan and Canelo both made weight, Golovkin and Brook will both make weight....there is still clearly a smaller guy.
That was Gamboa after a long layoff, without an actual trainer and 2 divisions above where he belongs, he was still the more talented fighter by a distance. The fight changed when he got buzzed by the bigger man and clearly slowed down.
Crawford is a very good fighter, being real about that fight is not taking anything away from him. The only real concern I had about Crawford in that fight was seeing him get badly rocked in the last round despite Gamboa being small and tired.
I understand what you are saying but we have to be real on both sides of the fence, if khan beats Canelo we arent having this duiscussion. If Brook beats Golovkin we arent having this discussion of them being too small. We only say this **** when the fighter loses. These fighters know what they are getting into way before the fight happens. I understand its an advantage but their are alot of other advantages that you cant change that a fighter has to get around size, height, reach, but they KNOW that. If they thought they way your thinking right now then they shouldnt take the fight. They still do knowing full what advantages the other fighter has. Its just bs to me man they cant go into a fight seeing all the money they are going to make, but once they lose claim disadvantages.
This is not an excuse, but rather a reality of what the perception will be for either fighter if they do not win convincingly. But more so towards Ward. Let me explain.
Kovalev is the bruiser in this fight. He is the guy to give punishment, right? I'm sure we can all agree on that. He is the aggressive puncher. The ultimate culmination of that style is a knockout. So if a knockout doesn't come, the general perception is that he will look bad. (That was the general perception after his last fight, right?) Kovalev needs to engage and punish Ward and beat him down or out. Or HE will look lucky in a decision win.
Now with Ward, he has the tougher hill to climb as he's having to avoid a hard puncher with major pop and the ability to cut off the ring. What I meant about Ward coming out looking lucky is if he doesn't do what is expected of him. He is expected to basically shutout Kovalev, right? He's the superior, slicker boxer, and is therefore expected to put on a clinic. With that in mind, if the scorecards are anything closer that 8-4 in his favor, it will be seen as a lucky win as he is expected to dominate. At least, that would be the general consensus.
I understand where your coming from but,did Bernard Hopkins make him look bad? No in matter of fact he made Kovalev look good because he is a skilled boxer and Kovalev outboxed him. I get what your saying, if they dont do what everybody expects them to do their could be some doubt which is true. Just like when he fought Bernard Hopkins, these are two of the best fighters in the sport (no matter how old you say Bernard Hopkins was) and nobody is going to just dominate the other person (at least I dont think so). To say if Ward doesnt dominate this fight its considered "lucky", to me is absurd and even though I dont believe your intentions were wrong saying that, it gives more people reason to take away from Ward if he wins.
Lara is arguably worse than all of them... Lara lost to Carlos Molina and got a gift draw and he was a disgrace vs. Canelo...
If he lost every round by default running against Canelo what do you think he's going to do against GGG? Run more and be less offensive if possible... Lara might not even throw a single punch in a round against GGG...
Nah Lara beats anybody on that list he put out. If triple g beats Lara in stunning fashion he gets my respect because Lara is not an easy opponent. We might not like his style but cant deny he is skilled. You think that this Brook fight is the best that could have been made?
