So for those of us in the UK we're looking at around 1am? or later? more like 3am? obviously it depends on the undercards, but assume they go the distance, then what time?
Forza Italia, Paulie's a kick ass fighter don't give a shit what any of you say. If you'd seen some of his earlier fights you'd have seen how badly he's OWNED the fighters he's fought, even with one hand. So he isn't at Cotto's level, thats fair enough. But there's no doubt that Paulie Boxed better than cotto. If Cotto didnt have such a perfect and hard punch, he would have lost it, and theres no doubt about it. I'm not taking anything away from Cotto, cos he won fair and square and deserved to win. But don't say that Paulie's shit, cos there are FEW who can go 12 rounds with Cotto and to be fair, OUTBOX cotto. I know some ppl are gonna say he didnt outbox cotto and that Cotto owned him, get a life man, which fight were u watching? Paulie put up one hell of a good show, and it just shows how much FUCK ALL some of you blind fans know about the sport when you can say that Cotto was gonna give him a first round knockout or some shit. You may not like him outside the ring, but give the guy some respect inside the ring, cos he proved he's well up to the mark by going 12 rounds with Cotto, and winning A LOT of those rounds, not the majority, but still a lot. and lets not go into the judges cards, he did win a fair few rounds, he did not get beat on points THAT easy. He may have got hit with too many excellent shots by Cotto, but Paulie did win quite a few rounds.
It's not that we hate him. It's that he thinks he is going to beat Cotto. Which i don't see him doing. Cotto will cut the ring perfect and end the fight with a left hook.
BTW i have no fights of paulie. Im sure someone can help you.
To Undefeated,
To be honest, don't all fighters go around saying they're gonna win their next fight? I'm sure Paulie doesn't think he's actually gonna beat Cotto easily. I'm sure he has faith in his abilities, but by the same token, he's doing his job, his trash talking gets him the publicity. He's pretty using this fight as his way to the top. Fair enough he's fought nobodies, but he's dealt with them easily according to the reports that I've read. So the way I see it is that he's slightly untested. Sure Cotto's the man, but that doesn't neccessarily mean that there can't be a shock defeat by a motivated, young, skillfull boxer, right?
I'm not making excuses for him, I'm just saying that there isn't a fighter out there who's gonna go into their next fight and say "Yea well this guy's better than me, he's proven it against the level of opposition he's fought, and I'm pretty much trying my luck. I'll probably lose.." LOL
LOL Interesting feedback
One thing i must say is that Paulie DOESNT GET HIT. He's too quick. He's in and he's out. you can say all day that Cotto's a hard puncher and you'd be correct, but what's the use of a hard puncher if he cant hit his target? Paulie has the fastest hands and feet in the division, he'll have a good strategy and I think has the ability and skills and slickness to win this on points. On the other hand, if he lets Cotto in with a chance, it may spell curtains for him.
Interesting fight I'm sure you'll agree, my money being on Paulie to win it with a good game plan, and a lightning quick jab that Cotto won't be able to see past..
But another interesting side to this is the fact that Paulie is yet to be tested at the highest level. Cotto fans will say that this is in their advantage and that Cotto's been tested, but Paulie's still a novice, BUT what you have to be careful of is, is looking past Paulie. He DOES have a point when he says that he's given CLEAN beats to all his opponents. There hasn't been one opponent who Paulie has had trouble with EXCEPT the fights during which he's broken his right hand, AND EVEN THEN he's managed to win the fight pretty easily. I think that Paulie's shown an excellent foundation, and has won pretty much all his fights easily. Indeed he needs to step up the level of competition cos he's too good for who he's fighting, but Miguel Cotto is, as you've quite rightly said, one tough nut to crack. Cotto's camp, however, must be wondering what Paulie's gonna be like against Cotto, because no-one's seen Paulie at his actual very best..
Thats what makes him such an intriguing fighter. He comes from the school of Ray Mancini and Rocky Marciano, guys without a lot of natural talent but they work their asses off. If Cherry is ever to fail to win a title, it won't be because he didn't try hard enough.
check out Paulie Malginaggi's site, its www.paulmalignaggi.com
Back in 95 he apparently fisted a chick with an acid pussy. Listening to Paulie tell the story makes you want to cringe!
Hey guys, I'm really looking forward to the Malignaggi - Cherry fight, but is there any chance someone could upload the fight video here after? it's just that where I live I can't watch it!!
Thanks, please let me know if its possible!
