Fury beat Cunningham...
regardless of the lame "cruiserweight" dismissal. Cunningham was still a 2x world champion and a proven technician (and a HEAVYWEIGHT, just like James Toney, Adamek, Holyfield, Haye etc etc)...and remember, Fury beat Johnson (the same guy who took Vitali the distance)...oh, and Johnson is the same guy who handed a TKO to Wlad's next "world class" opponent...yes, Fury BEAT that Johnson.
Fury was smart to take the fight with haye, who could have foreseen the jack...
well ask yourself this then smart guy...is Wlad giving a shot to Pulev?...It wouldn't have mattered if Fury fought (and beat) Pulev. Wlad cherry picks the easiest opponents. This is actually a compliment to Fury.
...and remember, Fury beat Johnson (the same guy who took Vitali the distance)...oh, and the same guy who handed a TKO to Wlad's next "world class" opponent.
fury IS a threat to Wlad
regardless of what haters think, Fury is a legitimate danger to Wlad K. Fury has a solid inside game, a high work rate, proven stamina and the height, weight and reach that would neutralize Klitschko's leaning. Fury is also unpredictable and has an unorthodox style... ALL of these combined attributes are a nightmare for team Klitschko. Remember, styles make fights.
What Perez doesn't have is ko power, but then again neither does Jennings...Perez is a technician, has a durable chin, a high workrate and good defense so Jennings would lose on points.
a little knowledge is a dangerous thing...
@hay-b, If you don't know about Szpilka then how can you make an assessment? Perez has a low ko% and couldn't even drop a fighter who had a broken hand in the 2nd round (Magomed threw and connected more power punches in that fight as well). All Perez has is an adequate jab...Szpilka is going to expose Perez proper.
not all knockdowns are created equal
Wilder was also stunned by a weak Firtha jab...and for that matter David Haye was dropped by Lolenga Mock (a cruiser with a lower ko% than Cunningham). Fury's chin is fine...ANYONE would have went down from a full on, open right (while going back nonetheless) but this was a flash knockdown, Fury was up and clear. In fact, if you watch the remaining round, he was more concerned about his shorts falling down than he was about the punch...that speaks volumes.
good move
Smart man, in the end his comments still stand as they were said, processed and repeated. Most fans of the sport can agree that a rematch between Bermane and Arreola is lame and that the organization went above and beyond to make concessions for Vitali Klitschko (for over a year of inactivity)...double standards much? In any case, Fury is making all the right moves.
there it is, Perez got a bogus draw against a second rate opponent. Carlos Takam still rocked Perez in the fight nonetheless. Perez is a joke, if magomed wasn't diminished via the broken hand in the 1st, Perez would be the one in the coma.
Floyd has 68 million excuses!
What does mayweather care whether Pac needs money or doesn't? etc. etc. All clownfloyd does is blow smoke. Get in the ring and fight
Excuses for wilder's lack of quality competition?
...that he is being "brought up slow" due to lack of an extensive amateur career?...LAME! He was in the Olympics and is being dubbed the best heavyweight to come down the pike in over a decade (so the criticism is warranted) Besides, bringing a fighter up slow is one thing but what team Wilder is doing is offensive. Note: Jameel McCline had no amateur career and started his professional career at 25 years old...and he had no problem facing decent opposition.
good for Jennings but...
I was there. Szpilka gassed out in the 10th (and consequentially left himself wide open) because he was trying to get the ko. What is not being reported is how Jennings was gassed early on and Szpilka didn't have time in the round to finish him. Also, watch for the punch stats, it was closer than they are making it out to be (Artur made Jennings miss many of the wild shots he was throwing during his spurts). note: Jennings' mouth was bloodied and his head was all lumped up too. it is what it is
Seems that Fury is the only one making moves to secure an actual fight...and the tampon jibe is rich seeing as Wilder is the only one fighting old hens that are on the rag. #STEPUPWILDER
release the full punch stats
I was there. Szpilka gassed out in the 10th (and consequentially left himself wide open) because he was trying to get the ko. What is not being reported is how Jennings was gassed early on and Szpilka didn't have time in the round to finish him. So, click on the complete version of the punch stats, it was closer than they are making it out to be (Artur made Jennings miss many of the wild head shots he was throwing during his random spurts). Yeah, Jennings had a higher work rate in regards to power shots but those were via body punches and to Jennings credit, Szpilka's shots were deflected by those weird arms of Jennings being held high for most of the bout. note: Jennings' mouth was bloodied and his head was all lumped up too (the pin got through). it is what it is
Jennings looked bad
...he won, but was made to miss plenty of his shots and even gassed out at the end of the early round, Szpilka just didn't seize the moment. Jennings face also looked worse for wear (lumped head and bloodied mouth) The best thing Jennings has going for him is the occasional spurts of combinations and good defense via those weirdly long arms...we'll see how that works for him against more experienced opposition.
don't expect it
Wilder's team wouldn't dare go out on a limb even against a feather-fisted Scott...there will be an excuse (maybe another domestic violence roadblock)...If they did step it up against Scott it will be Wilder's first loss.
