I think Al has turned a bit delusional. He keeps promoting his boxing channel like it's the best thing since swiss cheese. He is clearly becoming a Nonito whore.
I'll put it to you this way, I'd rather watch the Bute-McGee and Edinson Mirand doubleheader on SHOWTIME than that ****ty Paul Williams/Adrien Broner twin bill HBO is planning.
At the end of the day, if Cotto/Pacquiao outsells Mayweather/Marquez does all of this even matter??? Keep in mind that Mayweather Marquez was pushed back 2 months. Keep in mind that Cotto/Pacquiao has an inferior undercard than Mayweather/Marquez, I still feel it will be the biggest money fight of the year.
How lame is it that Floyd comes after ACTION which is what Cotto and Pacquiao bring and Floyd DOES NOT!
For the record, I don't pay to watch 24/7s, I pay for PAY-PER-VIEWS, PAC and COTTO are worth the doe, Money Lameweather is NOT. . .
Haven't read that far into it yet but from what I've read thus far Cus was one heck of an influential person, not just in boxing but outside of it as well, he respected his boxers as men not just as boxers. He established honest, loyal relationships with them, which in turn made them give everything they had in the ring.
The book is quite philosophical because he tries to relay much of what he experienced into what he tries to preach to a boxer in training. It is quite unique because he's basically saying that the knowledge a boxer knows inside of the ring is a result of learning that boxer has done outside of the ring just by going through life struggles. I never really looked at boxing in that sense, it's very introspective.
While that may be true, HBO has kind fallen asleep at the wheel recently. I mean buying the Dawson/Tarver rematch WTF was that? Even the Diaz/Malignaggi fight was a head scratcher for me. HBO's summer schedule went up in flames thanks to David Haye bitching out of his fight with Wlad and Vitali and then Mayweather's shoulder injury, and John's flu vs Juarez. . .HBO needs to get a lot more creative because SHOWTIME with a smaller budget has made things happen by thinking outside the box.
Lopez today I thought was VERY impressive considering Luevano is sort of a dull counter puncher who almost bores you to sleep with his very patient way of executing. I thought his knockout was much more impressive in that, not only has Luevano never been stopped, he also vowed to take JuanMa into the deep end, it never happened.
That being said, Yoriorkis looked Amazing blasting Roger out of the water. If they meet in there next fight I'd probably go with Yoriorkis based on how well he handled a guy who gave JuanMa fits and because I am thoroughly impressed with Gamboa's handspeed and I believe that will trouble JuanMa. But the fight would definitely be a WAR!
I agree. Andrade-Bute was good but Andrade was clearly outclassed. Guzman-Funeka disappointed me a bit because of the headclash, I felt like that totally took Guzman off of his gameplan. But Honorio-Molina clearly take the cake with the most exciting fight of the night.
Kessler looked robotic tonight. Ward was doing anything he wanted at will. He was switching it up. Outside of the headbutts (which I don't think were intentional) Ward fought a technically flawless fight. If I'm the other boxers in the Super 6 right now, I'm shaking in my boots. Ward has quick lateral movement. It will be hard for anyone to find the proper formula to attack him.
I too was a bit stunned by the draw. However, all of the people that I watched the fight with agreed with me. Ali Funeka did not win the fight so much as he was basically handed the bout. That clash of heads should have been counted a clash of heads after the 3rd round. Guzman had a tough draw for 10 rounds with a busted brow and a busted nose. In a rematch Guzman would outclass Funeka just look at the first 2 rounds, Funeka was landing about 8 punches per round. I don't think that Guzman fought enough to merit a draw, but then again maybe Funeka with the advantages in his favor didn't do enough himself to merit the win, so it goes both ways.
