Is Jermain Taylor a dumb fighter?

DEFINITELY NOT. he's just been in the ring with really hungry fighters, and unfortunately didn't come out on top.

Jermain should have thrown a lot more jab cross combos Whenever you have a fighter with tight earmuff guard, throw a jab cross as hard as you damm can. YEs they will block it with their arms but they will think twice about taking all of your punches on the arms if you hit hard enough My favourite combo against someone with a high guard like Abraham is a hard jab cross then left and right body rips finished with a left uppercut

Taylor = Forest Gump I mean if you threw 100 jabs and 2 of them got through, wouldn't you change your strategy? It was painful watching Taylor throw that meaningless jab that did nothing but drain his stamina. Why not throw a jab to the body where Abraham was more open? Watching Taylor fight, one of my friend's and I began to question Jermain's ring smarts. So I ask, is Jermain Taylor a dumb fighter? YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dumb as a brick!! He couldnt adjust if you threw his azz instructions!!

He doesn't seem relaxed in there...too tense...and that contributes to his stamina going down... I didn't see any improvement in him after he started training with Emmanuel. I think you can tell Jermain to do this and that but he's gonna do what comes natural to him... I doubt Ozell Nelson has/can teach him anything new really... I think one of his worst decisions was getting rid of Pat Burns...

I've been preaching this point ever since pavilk/taylor 2.... the dude doesn't make in fight adjustments...he is truly the definition of a robot....he only can do what he is taught... he can't free think and do anything outside of what was programmed in him....he is indeed an "IDIOT"...a term i have used many times to describe this waste of talent.... with his punching power/size/strength he should walk fighters down with his guard up...his style is for people like floyd (fragile hands) he is a strong puncher (not 1 punch KO power but decent 1 punch KD power)

So I ask, is Jermain Taylor a dumb fighter? im glad you mention it..... i don't think he's a dumb fighter, honestly i think it's his trainer (i forget his name) me and my buddy was talking and he was like "he gonna lose he got that same trainer with him" i don't think he makes dumb descision, i think it what goes on in training camp and how they train jemain to fight a certian fighter.

the true beauty in courage is something narrow souls can't dare to admire......I guess the only way to avoid criticism is to say nothing, do nothing and be nothing......JT is a WARRIOR!!.....respect that man!!:boxing:

taylor also boxes too tense. it fatigues him pretty quickly.

taylor is a dumb boxer... he throws punches just to throw them... he doesn't know how to set anything up. That's because his trainer is piss poor.

I'll put it to you guys this way; Jermain Taylor has the IQ of a mule. Anyone who would say that about a fighter whom beat B Hiop two times is as dumb as a mule. JT has issues with his stamina and his lack of moxy in the ring prevents him from unleashing his true potential. He had not had a tune up bout in over 5 years. The last time he fought a guy remotely considered a tune up fight was Jeff Lacy...If you all forgot whom Jeff Lacy was then look at all the Calzaghe fans posts and you will see that Lacy was Calzaghes claim to fame before he muscled B Hop and Roy Jones. To me Lacy was hardily a tune up fight and JT looked good in there against him. He had Froch beat and he was winning this fight for the first 4 rounds or so. He needs a win and in a big way over his next opponent or he is done period end of story.....Lefty

taylor was not trying to win that fight by any means..he knew who he was in with in thsi tournament and was just trying to get a full 12 rounds in with a fighter of AAs caliber to get his confidence up a bit..because going into this tournament his confidence was zapped.. Now it may be completely gone

i agree with most of whats been said already i think Taylor definately has some confidence issues ever since he lost to Pavlik he seemed more confident in his fights with Winky and the 2nd Bernard fight but maybe thats due to Wright not being a big puncher and Hopkins being older. he seemed to be doing reasonably well for most of the fight the low blow call was a bad decision though and he got thrown off his game abit after that i agree with what Steve Bunce said at the end of the fight Abraham was making him work every second of the round staying on his toes while he just plooded forward and it started to mentally train Jermain more than anything else. Taylor looked extremely uncomfortable when Abraham landed anything even punches partially blocked as as someone else eluded to. he has now been knocked out so many times any confidence he did have is gone for good didn't Emmanuel Stewart leave because he was trying to teach Jermain things but he said he would always revert back to his bad habits and wouldn't listen

Jermain lacks confidence plus Ozell Nelson is not a capable trainer at this level IMO.....Dumb is being to harsh on JT.......he has his flaws but I wouldn't consider him a dumb fighter!!

Abraham can be countered when he opens up, in a big way. He loves the looping left hook and is WIIIIIIIIDDDDEEE open when he throws it. I think Direll has a chance to stick something in there if he man's up on his next fight and stays in the pocket a little bit. If not, it's lights out cuz we know whats gonna happen if the king catches him outside with that left hook (like the one he did miranda with). nothing butrespect for Jermaine but he needs to get out of this tourney. He was the mistake from the beginning. Dirrell is too scared and he fights like it. he could have fought a little more and ran a little less and maybe got Froch out of there. I think AA put him to sleep....Lefty

AA wait like a coiled snake he holds his guard high and his elbows were pointed straight down. he brings his arms down just enough to make you hit below them and get called for a low foul. he is a very intellegent fighter he sees what you are about figures out his plan of attack and then springs out at you with hard fast attacks. His punches may not be as straight or as quick as some but he is faster than alot of fogithers in his wieght class. He throws vicious punches and has extreme power in both hands his left hook put Edison Miranda out for the count and that right hand was devastating as we all saw Saturday night. JT has issues with his stamina looming largely in his mind. That coupled with the fact he had a tough as nails opponent in front of him and a hostel crowd of thousand routing against him. He got the low blow penalty and he did get caught with a nice shot and was able to hold on. To tell you the truth if he could have ended the fight on his feet it woul dhave been something to build off of. i still think it is because he was not gassed and he did okay all things considered. Going out on your shield is not hte worst thing a boxer can do. The worst thing a fighter can do is quit onhis stool. He is...I weigh 208 pounds and my hands are like lightning compared to him. There is nothing special about King Arthur other than his toughness and his strength. He boxing skills are AVERAGE at best and thats being kind. Abraham has very fast hands are you crazy? He explodes every round or so with sick 6 punch combos.
