Did Buster Douglas become P4P #1 after beating Tyson? Trinidad beat then P4P #1 Dela Hoya but Trinidad didn't become number 1. Vernon Forrest beat then number 1 P4P Shane Mosely, did Forrest become number 1 P4P? Who did Hatton beat so decisively that he deserves #1 P4P status, Lazcano and Malignaggi? Puhleez! :D
the difference is, for me personally, that after last night pac is so far ahead of anyone in the p4p rankings that hatton would have a very good case if he beat him. imo.
pac would maul hatton though i think.
I went, and I had Froch to win, but only courtesy of the deducted point. Otherwise, obviously it was a draw.
Dirrell showed some great skill, landed more and got the cleaner and probably stronger shots in, and he clearly hurt Froch in the last couple of rounds. But I gave Froch the vast majority of the middle rounds because Dirrell had no intentions of actually fighting in a lot of them. He ran, and when he got cornered, he clinched, and hung on.
Dirrell had a game plan to spoil, he stuck to it throughout until the balance swung in his favour and I massively respect him for that and for his skill and for going to Frochs hometown in front of a serious homer crowd, but Froch won by showing aggression throughout.
We all know judges dont score just on punches landed, theres so many intangibles, and showing aggression is a massive one.
i hate it when people post, and don't even read the bulllshit that they post.......
u just said, dawson's fight w/ johnson was much closer than the calzaghe fight w/ hopkins........................
BUT you went on to post that the hopkins fight was very tight, could've gone eithewr way, and you scored it a draw.....plus the fact it actually ended in a SD........i dont know what world you live in, but a fight can't get any closer than that..............
calzaghe says he's retiring, but like i said, money talks........this just gives me more motivaiton to root for roy jones on the 8th, so calzaghe can retire w/ a beating....
but who kno's roy might give calzaghe a rematch just to spite hopkins. could happen. roy and calzaghe are both pussies in my book.......
I had Johnson over Dawson by a few rounds, IMO that decision was a joke, hence why i said the fight was closer. Granted that was a bad choice of words, but what i was trying to put accross was that Calzaghe performed better against Hopkins the Dawson did against Johnson, take into account that Hopkins is a better fighter then Glen Johnson I dont think Calzaghe needs to fight Dawson to cement his legacy. Considering the vast majority on here are backing RJJ to beat him, I think a win in that fight will cement his legacy enough.
But then again, i think we all know that most on here will be saying Roy is a shot fighter if Calzaghe wins.
Is Dirrell better than Pascal and Taylor? Probably not. He has skills, but he gets hit far too often, and his defence isn't very good. This may mean Froch will land a lot more often than he did against Taylor.
And Froch's win over Taylor wasn't only down to Taylor gassing. He chased him down the whole fight looking for that money shot, and he eventually got it in the 12th. He then proceeded to mess Jermain up. If I remember correctly, Taylor's defence and movement was looking good in that fight. But it just so happened that the first real, clean, power shot Froch landed, ruined Taylors night. That punch is going to come around a lot earlier against Dirrell.
From what ive seen of Dirrell (which admittedly isnt a lot) id say his footwork and movement is better then Taylors now. Id say Froch might find him harder to hit then Dirrell.
then I suppose thats tempered by Dirrell never really being tested over 12 rounds.
Hopefully it'll be a good fight.
some crazy ****ers on here.
Dawsons fight against Johnson was closer then Calzaghes was against Hopkins and now Calzaghe has to fight Dawson to cement his legacy. Dont make me laugh.
I dont like Calzaghe at all really, but he is a good fighter, he doesnt need to fight Hopkins again because he already won a pretty safe (in the judges eyes at least) win in Vegas where, lets face it, he ws always going to be underscored for being British. Hes now talking about not having to fight Pavlik, which was a fight i was desparate to see before Saturday, because everyones been talking about him ducking Pavlik for the past year or so. Kelly got demolished by Hopkins and Calzaghe has nothing to prove against him now.
Like I said, im no Calzaghe and I though his fight against Hopkins was incredibly tight and could easily have gone either way (i had it at a draw personally), but saturdays performance should have shown people how good Calzaghes performance agains Hopkins was. For him to win in America, against an American legend after having been put down in the first was a good result, but to do it against the guy who utterly destroyed arguably the best young prospect in boxing 6 months later makes it a fantastic result really.
