Hatton's a scrapper. He likes to throw wide brawling shots, move his head and then go str8 in.
Move his head?
Against Mayweather Hatton was like a punch bag. He took more head shots than my wife.
It's not just the loss, it's the lackluster performances since Maussa.
Let's examine this:
Close win over Luis Collazo at Welterweight (ranked top ten)
Wide decision against Juan Urango (ranked top ten then and is top ten now)
Fourth round knockout of Jose Luis Castillo (who was ranked number one contender at 140 lbs at the time)
Loss to Mayweather at 147 lbs
Wide decision against top ten rated Juan Lazcano
One sided stoppage of Malginaggi who was rated number one contender.
Lacklustre?
Did Buster Douglas become P4P #1 after beating Tyson? Trinidad beat then P4P #1 Dela Hoya but Trinidad didn't become number 1. Vernon Forrest beat then number 1 P4P Shane Mosely, did Forrest become number 1 P4P? Who did Hatton beat so decisively that he deserves #1 P4P status, Lazcano and Malignaggi? Puhleez!
If Hatton were to beat Pacquiao then... Pacquiao. Is that difficult?
Who the hell has Hatton fought apart from Mayweather, and dont say the 38 year old Kosta who had not fought for neally 2 years
The 35 year old Kostya Tszyu who had fought six months earlier and stopped highly rated Sharmba Mitchell in three?
Watch the fight Tszyu's definitely out of shape
Clearly. Which is why it was an even fight until the ninth round when Ricky's workrate started to tell.
But, just like Buddy McGirt was tellin' Malignaggi "It's still the same ole Ricky".
Yeah, Paulie was lucky that he had McGirt, or he may have lost that fight. WTF?
And the biggest upside for PAC, is that he's a southpaw who is a much better all-around fighter than Luis Collazo, who was also a lefty and Ricky was having such a hard time figuring out the southpaw stance.
Ricky is 9-0 against Southpaws. Ricky trained all wrong for Collazo I think. Isntead of focusing on his speed he tried to bulk up and it left him being caught flush by too many shots. Plus Collazo's size didn't help.
Hatton will find a way out of avoiding Pacman just like he has never wanted a part of the big punchers like Cotto.
Wrong. Arum would not have put a weight drained Cotto in with the likes of Ricky Hatton and Cotto was never the fight for Ricky to take at Welterweight. Thanks for trying though.
Tszyu had just one fight in two and a half years before he fought Hatton the guy was over 35 years of age and way past his prime
He was also the linear 140 champ and consensus top three pound for pound.
ricky ain't welsh. nor is he italian like calzaghe.
ricky fights.
ricky will take this fight.
win or lose. he has done more in his career than joe ever will accomplish.
we're talking about REAL fighters here. Hatton and Pacquiao.
you want to talk about joe? go to the senior citizen's lounge.
Don`t have a tantdrum with me because a pale skinny guy from a small country keeps beating all the top American fighters it`s not my fault.:bottle:
But their recent performances have been very different, he's only returned to form in his last fight.
If he can drop out of the top ten after one fight (the Mayweather loss), he can get back into the top 10 after one fight (Malignaggi).
Tszyu, Castillo, Malinaggi, Maussa, Lazcano, Collazo, Urango
Hatton will fight Pacquiao in a heartbeat
And which one of them was a world class puncher still in his prime and not past it, Ricky Hatton will not fight the Pacman.
kostya.
he was not 38.
in fact he was 8 years younger than hopkins when joe fought him and 5 years younger than roy.
also......
kostya beat sharmba mitchell a few months before the hatton fight.
so you don't know shit. so shut up.
Ok let be try to explain to you another way Kosta , whoops, i mean Kostya had one fight in two and a half years before he fought Hatton, he was struggling with injuries which is a well known fact, he was over 35 and was way past his prime, and don`t bring up the likes of Hopkins, Hopkins is a rare breed to perform like he does at is age, Kostya was washed up and was there for the payday, in his prime he would have koed Hatton pretty easily.
kostya tszyu is not a big and dangerous puncher?
dude quit trolling. we all know you're an alt.
Tszyu had just one fight in two and a half years before he fought Hatton the guy was over 35 years of age and way past his prime, i`m not a troll ,i`m just trying to educate simple people like yourself.
theres no point in talking about it because it will never happen, if hatton goes 12 rounds with pacman he should give himself a good ol' pat on the back
hatton is top 5 p4p right now.
don't be biased.
he's the 140 king.
he just beat the #1 140 fighter in the world.
he beat kostya when kostya was top 3 p4p.
you telling me he can't be #1 after beating the current #1?
give me a break.
let me ask you this. who would you have #1 if hatton beats pac next year?
don't embarass yourself.
All of this sort of talk is gonna look pretty silly when Hatton gets smoked by Victor Ortiz. :D
This really is ignorant horseshite of the first degree. Hatton has ducked nobody, and has made clear he wants this p4p #1 just like he did the previous one. Plus the money from this fight will be phenomenal; far more thanm he would get fighting anybody else.
P.S I think Pac would win, too. I also don't think the fact Ricky will be the underdog will worry him in slightest.
Come on now take your blinkers off, Hatton hand picks all is opponents, name me one truly world class puncher in his prime who hatton has faced.
I like how you just change the subject as if I was arguing about Hattons record. I clearly bolded the part that I responded to.
You said that Hatton would duck Pacquiao. Which he clearly won't because he has said many times that he is eying Pacquiao for his next fight. He wanted Pacquiao to win so he could make the fight.
I seriously would stop talking if I were you, because in a pretty short time, Hatton/Pacquiao will be announced as official and you will have to eat your words.
Fair enough, but I`ll keep asking you every 2 months why has this fight still has not been signed until you realise yourself that Hatton will find a way out of avoiding Pacman just like he has never wanted a part of the big punchers like Cotto.
possibly, but if he beats Pac, we all know who the shoo-in will be.
That's a big "IF", but the payday Pacman would be getting with a Hatton fight would be hard to dismiss. :D Let's get it on!
Puhleez! :D
the difference is, for me personally, that after last night pac is so far ahead of anyone in the p4p rankings that hatton would have a very good case if he beat him. imo.
pac would maul hatton though i think.
after fighting 4 hall-of-fame shoe ins, I think Hatton is a downgrade in competition :D
possibly, but if he beats Pac, we all know who the shoo-in will be.
