I would put my money on Mike. Even though he is a bit past his prime he aint going to let a white guy woop him.
Well when he was a lot closer to his prime it was only Frans Botha's stupidity that saved Mike from a very lopsided whooping
Bruce Seldon comes to mind for me. Hearns someone mentioned is a little unfair, suspect chin but not the weakest of chins. Whilst he was in his prime it took Leonard 14 rounds to finish hearns off.
yeah props on the heads up, i hooked up my anolouge and scanned the channels, they showed the undercard of Roberto Coelho. im lookin foward to the cotto, and williams fight. good thing i kept the old sky box, but i get no sound, which dont matter as its all german anyway.
also german tv, dsf, specifically has some great adverts
Dsf also used to show good boxing on fridays last time I was looking. I'm going to have to go and get another dish and rig up my old sky box I think.
Why was Liston disliked?
Because in those days the brooding anti social image was very dis-liked by american. Not to mention his connections with organised crime. Even the president asked Patterson to do America a favour and ko Sonny.
after rooney he trained in vegas with aaron snowell, a friend from the catskills.
Tim Witherspoon once described him as some kind of gym rat. Always hanging around but you never quite knew why.
I get this one for free but I don't get a lot of fights at all. They didn't show anything of Roy Jones or Lennox Lewis for example. So what I save on PPVs I spend on DVDs.
Do you get dsf
But it took him 10 rounds, i can hear his critics already saying he dosent punch hard enough etc
Well done Ricky!
C'mon on Danny!
Maybe but it didn't look that way it looked more like Ray may be related to the terminator. He didn't seem to register pain.
Hatton stops him in ten right hook and Ray is down he's got some problem with his left ear and bleeding from his left eye. Doesn't get up from his knee and ref stops fight. Hatton won every round EASILY.
Based on Ring Magazine.
I have always respected the fact that ring magazine were sensible with their choice of champion. As exmple they continued to call Spinks champion until Tyson beat him and they continued to call Foreman champion until he was ripped off against Briggs but in this case I think they should have left it vacant until at the least Vitali had avenged his loss to Byrd. I know all about the injury but the recold does show a loss.
I agree. And plus how old is he. Isnt he like 37. Why would he come back when he couldn't get himself up to fight for the title? Just doesnt make sense
I don't think the age is to much of a factor but the desire is obviously lacking.
We are all aware of how professional boxing is in dire need of some serious reforms. With bad decisions, lack of organization, fight fixing, and a lack of boxers postfight assistance, the pros are a mess. But what about the amateurs? I have been an amateur for 2 1/2 years, and I have seen atrocities. First lets start out with the scoring. The amateurs have 3 judges scoring the fight. When the decision is announced, they don't tell you the scores, that always seemed shady. Then there is the lack of organization. I went out to Pennsylvania for a Pro-Am show at the Blue Horizon, with license in hand, and discovered that I couldn't fight because there was no 125 lb. fighter there. Then there is the policy for stopping a fight. If a fighter has like 3 unanswered shots rained on him, he gets a standing eight. If a fighter is a little tired and getting hit, they stop the fight. It really is stupid. The worst part may be that the promoter makes all the money and the fighters get nothing. I have to pay 30 dollars everytime I fight to renew my license. It truly is bullshit. The amateurs need some serious restructuring.
I agree with you but with such shady dealings in them pro ranks it's unlikely the amatuer ranks will change once the pros are cleaned up I think there will be lots of busy bodys in the amatuers. Not sure if that will be good mind you.
The young George Foreman. I saw him at the Lewis Ruddock fight in London and the guys head looked like the size of a pumkin. He just hasthis look that he'd be impossible to hurt. Tyson did pretty well.
The thing is for boxing to be on free television the fighters have to appeal to more than just boxing fans. The heavyweight division is usaully the flagship for boxing but with the likes of Ruiz and Byrd that's not likely to happen even Mike Tyson spoilt things because he presented a very unsavioury image of the heavyweight champion. There are still lots of people around that would rather not spend time watching a guy that's convicted of rape, bytes ears off and beats up motorists. Sponsers also don't really want to be involved with that kind of image.
Yes, an early Tyson knockout would be very refreshing.
And prove absolutely nothing as he beat a guy that looked by all accounts terrible in his last fight.
