Dubois corner were trying to gee him up after every round, like they were trying to keep him in it. All mental and emotional support. Either he really needs that when the going isn't easy, or they didn't have the capability to offer technical advice.
Either way there are some big holes in the overall game of Dubois and corner. He looked a very young man between rounds. Joyce didn't so much as change his expression from walking in, until they interviewed him after the fight, and he finally smiled. There was no questioning his fight conditioning, he knows how hard the game is.
Can you lose widely and then expect a rematch because you promise to take it seriously next time, like you just promised and then didnt? AR has to go away and show something, and then by all means, why not a trilogy.
I had Kambosos as the winner, scoring round by round. Separately, I liked his attitude all the way through. He gave nothing away before the fight and was game and scrappy at every opportunity. He gave little away during the fight, always responding. Came to win. In the middle rounds Teo looked like a man who just got reminded this sh*t is hard, and he wasn't enjoying it. His corner were...... not great, with advice, or dealing with the cuts, swelling, or losing. He had a rough night all in all. I see the same for Ryan Garcia, and he wont like it either. IMHO.
I guess it's all been said.
Even Alexander reviewed his own failure preflight in saying he would win this on intelligence, and he would have had he actually used any, for two more rounds.
When you have neither the heart to win the fight, or the discipline to box intelligently then your relying on your opponent to fail.
Bizarre situation but he can retire any big time plans.
Maybe Josh Taylor fights Jose Pedraza ( as a late replacement ), the rumor is that Taylor is ducking Teofimo Lopez and Terence Crawford. Taylor, is too scared to make a move, the 'Tart-Tomato' wants to hide in the UK and shield himself from threats behind bum mandatories, like that English-Bum Jack Catteral. Jose Pedraza should stay in the gym and get ready for that call.
Yeah, if he would only take on an undefeated champ, or a former champ, or a current champ, then he would prove he wasn't scared. He's been hiding for 18 fights already.
I understand we all make mistakes but losing in this manner is damn near unforgivable Andy. And the signs were clear as day. The house the cars and the constant yapping and social media presence. This was very embarrassing. You had 6 months.... SIX. Sort yourself out. AJ did a fine job just the same. He exploited his opponent's weakness and was supremely humble and disciplined.. Great win by the champ!
Thats it alright. When you trainer knows the most likely way Joshua is going to box, and everyone warns you of the dangers of the Buster Douglas effect, and you just go ahead and do it anyway, you cant claim these as excuses. These are personal failures, there are no excuses for accepting the cliche.
Doesnt make AR a bad person, he seems a nice guy with good team, but setting yourself up to lose? Crazy.
This woman is another Desdemona it's too bad she can't take her to the cleaners...There simply aren't enough Shakespeare references on this boxing forum. I don't know why, its a very Shakespearean sport.
Hmm. Knowing your son was sick going into the fight doesn’t help your story.
Maybe he could take the beating, but you knew he was sick/gassed after 4, so why should he. Poor decision making. You could have taken the decision and saved his ego and future resilience.
I got it right for once. After 2 rounds of action I called the round, and that a jab would stop him.
He was looking fragile between rounds, with his corner having to gee him up, and you just cant take a heavy jab round after round.
The Juggernaut is all about momentum. Once he is rolling he's hard to get out of the way of, and he lands. There's a relentlessness that wears you down.
Awful job by the referee for sure. He didn't do the 'home fighter' any favors. Career over. Makes you wonder what happens to the brain physiologically that you can no longer take a punch? I don't know the science in that but some irreversible damage/change seems to happen.
Good fight, good performances, little bit more class from Broner. Nice to see.
I think Broner will have a short career though, he is shipping too much and he will get worn down if he is matched as tough as he talks over the coming years.
They’re in a damn parking lot? Lol
Its the parking lot in the courtyard at the back of the Wildcard Gym.
You walk or drive through the arch and the stairs are on the left to go up to the gym.
I really like Valdez, he's great value and fights tough but he already looks a little worn by these tough fights. Is it smart to take another at a higher weight?
Short career ahead?
You've got to delude yourself and give the public a viable reason to continue to believe in you, but this nonsense. I was awesome until I got knocked out. If I hadn't got knocked out I would have won. If my opponent wasn't better than me I would have won.
If they keep buying, keep selling.
