wining an amateur tournament and beating people up in the streets doesn't make you the greatest figher of all time . I heared enough, i thought some bruce lee fan would come up with a good argument but I gues they can't because there is no good argument to way lee is the greatest of all time
I'm not trying to make an argument that he is the greatest martial artist of all time. It's hard to make that argument for any one person. I just find it ridiculous that people have gone to such great lengths to discredit his abilities as a true martial artist.
You want footage? How many impromptu street fights have actual footage, especially from the 50' and 60's? And for those of you who say he never competed in a real fight, he won the amateur hong kong boxing title by KO without any boxing experience. He also KO'd a black belt in a full contact bout in seattle in 11 seconds. Both incidents well documented. If you have your doubts about him being the best ever, then so be it. But to say he wouldn't stand a chance in a real fight simply makes you a hater and an ignorant one.
Pac as a featherweight
Compare the original video to this one when he was a featherweight.

He is still fast, but he was a total buzz saw at the lighter weights. He was also much younger then...
He didn't spend any time defending his 135 title, but looking back, is there any doubt that he wouldn't have beaten casamayor or juan diaz? I don't think anyone can argue against the fact that it's a lot harder to move up and win a title in a new higher weight division than it is to defend it over and over in the same division. Who in the lower divisions has any chance of beating him? That's why only special fighters are able to do it at all..i.e. mayweather, marquez, etc...Pacquiao is a great champion, maybe not at any specific weight, thus making the pound for pound distinction accurate.
That's been proven false too many times to mention.
So who else is doing it? Ricky Hatton can barely even move up one division, but has defended it over and over at 140. Is he a better champion than Pac?
This just another lame attempt to discredit somebody. Manny moved up to face fighters that were bigger risks. Manny can't please everyone and will always be discredited. The fact that he is fighting way above his weight proves how special he is. They want him to fight in his weight class to prove he is deserves his accolades? What kinda twisted thinking is that. Only in the mind of a jealous hater.
Wow...i think my posts are being misinterpreted. I have all the respect in the world for Pac. What he has done is unprecedented, and for the record. I'm no hater. Although I really do not like Floyd.
Gamboa is good, but come on now...IMO, Gamboa wouldn't have beaten Barrera, Morales, JMM, or Pacquiao when they were featherweights. I think they ALL KO him.
If you were Cotto, would you pass up $5 million guaranteed? The only other fighters who consistently make more per fight are Floyd and Pac. It's not like he has an easy fight ahead of him. It will be a bigger war than a fight vs martinez.
Let's give Cotto a break. Of all the active fighters out there, he has practically fought everybody. He wants to try and avenge a brutal KO loss against a punching machine/tank. That takes some balls. Dude is a real fighter. For my ppv $$, I'd rather watch the Cotto-Margarito rematch, vs a fight with martinez...
lmfao put the crack pipe down and stop dreaming:bs2:
Are you really THAT high on Gamboa? What do you think those four would have done to a Ponce De Leon?
Honest question..Who should Pacquiao fight next? The Mayweather fight isn't happening, and Martinez is a bit absurd. Seriously, a middleweight calling out a former flyweight?
Truthfully, I am disappointed by this list of potential opponents, but there really isn't anybody left worth fighting.
