"conspiracy theories" like this are ridiculous. I've seen this happen so often in fights everywhere now, UK, Germany, US, I don't even pay no mind anymore. You really think a guy gets an extra 20 seconds while a doctor checks his eyes is somehow giving him an extended recovery time?? Have you ever been hit with multiple punches in the face??. 20 seconds ain't s***. How about some respect for making sure these guys don't suffer life-ending injuries at the expense of your entertainment.
So basically, GGG won the first fight against a juiced canleo, but it was called a "draw". With canelo now under the microscope, and his "training schedule" (err, juice) being altered, I have no doubt that GGG wins this one CLEANLY. No way that boxing would let Cancheato walk away with a decison and destroy all that they have worked so hard build over the past few years.
There is a big difference between Wilders and Parker's talk. Wilder boasts loud because he believes in himself, but doesn't do as much to disrespect his opponent. Parker has done nothing but try to create stories and silly nicknames about AJ. Joshua has been fairly quiet, and will save it for the ring. Parker gets crushed...(if he doesn't run all night)
Hahaha. I was at workout today. GGG carries Vanes into 7/8/9th round. Anybody thinks this is legit fight, forget about it. GGG wipes vanes out in 2 rounds easy, anyday...except cinco de mayo. Big drama show. Vanes just happy to be here.
Nothing was "old and shot" about Ortiz. Wilder basically stood on the outside for the first 9 rounds, and Ortiz countered everything Wilder threw. Ortiz age may have caught up a bit late in the 9th and 10th, and the younger, more athletic Wilder finally got in closer, which nullified Ortiz counters, and finished the job. I had Ortiz up 2 rounds. The ref was soooo close to waving it off in the 7th...another 15 seconds and we'd be talking about Ortiz/Joshua. But Wilder for walked through the fire and pulled it out, like a champ...same as AJ did against Wlad.
I'd expect to see the same game plan against AJ. Wilder on the outside for the first 4-6 rounds, hoping to tire AJ out.
He is a frustrating fight to watch for sure because of his lack of early action and lack of combinations...looking for that "one-punch" ... but I think he takes AJ out late.
but they know good and well that had this situation been reversed and ggg was the one who came up positive (following a visit to Mexico), they would crucify him.
H**L yes to this. GGG's entire career performance would have been counted as a big fat ZERO.
GGG by KO 9th this time...
Excellent write-up. Couldn't agree more. Glad that the visibility of the Sweet Science is increasing and average, non-boxing fans, get to see great contests like last night on ESPN. There was a time when everyone in the world knew the name of the champ, and he was the most respected man on the planet.
Maybe, just maybe though...the networks might want to talk to each other so we don't have 2 major fights going on at the same time...just saying...
Idk about outlasting him until he gasses. Maybe before Wlad fight, but I think AJ is smarter about his pacing now. If the fight is in UK, ref stops it if Wilder is in trouble like the Ortiz 7th.
This thing ain't happening until at least the summer of 2019 anyways,
Couldn't believe compubox stats when they showed them after the KO. And Wilder ahead on scorecards?...didn't seem to match the fight I saw. Respect to the champ tho for the rebound and the finish.
If the fight doesn't go off, almost feel like Golden Toy would be the ones secretly pulling out. Canelo is in a lose-lose here. Fight and win : he cheated. Fight and lose: the cheater got beat by a clean boxer. Golden Toy can do nothing to repair his image right now, EXCEPT make him go away for awhile...
I'd say if the fight goes exactly like the first one did (not sure how it could be much different..), GGG has to get the decision. This story has been a bad look for a sport that been on a major public rise the past 2 years. Last thing they need is a "cheater" walking away with a controversial victory.
Clenelo gets busted, Clenelo goes into hiding, Clenelo withdraws from fight...but how many people in here still calling GGG the one who is scared?? Crazy talk.
I don't ever think I've seen a worse Ref job in a big fight than this one. Looked to me that the "outcome" was told to him before the fight, and he made sure it happened. He literally killed any monentum that started. Who the f**k steps in to break up the fighters while they are throwing??! Garbage show. Eddie Burn should be ashamed of himself.
Why would Wilder need to get in the ring to call AJ out anyway - as he would be commentating on the fight ringside, with a mic in his hand and the whole world listening to what he said?
Exactly.
And honestly, it really doesn't make sense to have a faceoff in the ring for a fight that isn't even signed...
Lara stood in there toe-to-toe with a bigger more aggressive fighter. He didn't run. Props to him for going at it, knowing what was going to come. Agreed with the scores, would have been a draw without the KD. There is nothing "bum" about Lara.
