My strategy for ortiz
Intelligent pressure, constantly moving to his right and firing combinations. You are not going to outbox Floyd. pumping that right jab and firing that straight left down the middle. don't worry about hitting him on the chin the first few rounds, just hit him anywhere. constantly moving to your right. gotta stay on top of him and keep him off balance, but not reckless like hatton. make him fight your pace. floyd and hopkins have a unique ability to make fighters box at their pace. oscar and judah were effective for the first half of the fight, but had stamina issues and floyd caught up to them. hit hm on the arms and bang that body !!
mayweather is unlike other fighters, he doesnt let himself go between fights. if you look at recent pics, he's been doing something; he looks at fight weight now.
he will training to get sharp not loose weight unlike most fighters except b-hop.
all that and you still going to get your ass kicked on saturday..lol !!
Either you can fight or you can't fight, period. all this conditioning staying clean crap.. it's all b.s. jake lamotta drank scotch in his orange juice before he'd run; he hated running. froch wouldnt last 4 rounds with him..lol !!
bernard will not throw more punches; he will throw enough to win. he is boring to watch and won't be appreciated until he retires. it's really sad that a fighter of his caliber doesn't sell well in america. it's too late to ask him to be more exciting. lol
wow, did lyle fitzsimmons write something halfway decent and not about the most aminstream of boxing?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
its a miracle
These crusiers are about as exciting as a scrabble game with my wife.. :)
IMO - I think Manny was "stale" in that fight. It looks to me that he needs a break from boxing or his other activities. he clearly didn't follow instructions in the corner and looked drained. When a fighter does "too" much thinking in the ring he is in trouble (I speak from experience). he seem to worried about getting hit and that's not good.
I don't see him ready for Mayweather in May. If they do fight, it would be a disaster for Pacman.
Cotto
I think its pretty clear that one fighter (cotto) is on his way down and the other is at the top of his (pacman) game. the beating that cotto took in the margarito fight shows; he is a step slower. cotto's heart will keep him in the fight but pacman's speed will befuddle him, but i don't see a stoppage. cotto is a strong welterweight and pacman has never faced a fighter as strong as cotto. also, cotto made a concession with the weight which will hurt him in the long wrong
Floyd will destroy...
JMM will get destroyed.. This fight makes no sense, but it makes dollar sense. Mayweather has picked the right opponent to comeback against. Marquez will come to fight of course and take a terrible beating..
Too soon..
The proposed match with Manny and Mayweather is too soon !!!!! I have to agree with Roach, Manny needs more time, but I guess "MONEY" overrides what Roach thinks. :) Give the first advantage to Mayweather. Unlike Pacman, Floyd is always in the gym and doesnt wait until training camp to get in shape; he stays in shape. Floyd will pick him apart !!!!!
mosley
Shane needs money !!!! AFter the divvorce I'm sure he needs it.. Pacman would be afool to fight him; low reward.. period. Shane should fight Paul Williams before he thinks about pacman or mayweather. Or fight Cotto again. Shane is not a draw, when will he get that thru is head. I guess it's hard when ur business manager/wife has taken a good hunk of your money. He is talking about sitting around and waiting. he did the same thing with de la hoya and passed up a 10 million payday, he will never see that kind of money again....
what do morals have to do with boxing. boxing is a combat sport and anything goes within he rules. it is never a fighters responsibility to protect the other fighter, if he wants to kiss and hug, then he deserves to get punished. the referee says, box you fight, period. these writers are freakin idiots, talking about morals in boxing. i'm a fromer fighter and if he would have headbutted me, he would have gotten one back. but perfect revenge is a k.o. which was "legal". these writers who have never been in the ring have no right to judge fighters behavior during "war"; boxing is a life and death struggle. I have seen guys die in the amatuers and gyms; we they say protect yourself at all times, that's what you do. as a fighter, you have a moral responsibilty to put the other fighter on his ass !!!
