That's untrue. It's just an urban legend perpetuated by low-mentality band-wagon jumpers, which grows the more Marquez complains. According to him he's NEVER been beaten. Those who "think Marquez won" didn't see the fight. It was attended by only 2 Western boxing writers. They both wrote that John won well. and won comfortably.
One was Scott Mallon of RING and he scored it 116-110 which was about what the judges had it. I think the other was Steve Kim who said he was there on a vacation and saw the fight. He had it about the same score.
I've written about this damn thing at least 3=4 times. it's about time these imbeciles got the message.
This is a good post.
The problem is, I think that people have a hard time understanding how a multi-weight, World champion like Pacquiao can't get past Marquez while a unknown Title holder like John can, an did.
It comes down to the styles, CJ is alot more technical an has a better range of skills (than Pac). He gets boxing behind a jab where a counter puncher like Marquez can't really set up to land anything hard or clean.
The main problem with Chris is that he has no real stopping power and always gasses in the 2nd half of his fights.
Unlike so many, I don't believe Solis' weight had anything to do with it. Why should 10 lbs tip him over. He was accustomed to carrying it.
What was noted ofterwards was that Solis must have injured himself BEFORE the fight. He had torn his ACL partially during training, but his team thought it was minor an didn't bother with an MRI scan to grade full extent of the damage.
Obviously thats one of the worst things you could do, because Knee injuries are degenerative an get progressivley serious over time..
They should of went went ahead with the surgury an came in 100% for the fight 12 months later.
and neglecting to add that Solis was actually dropped by a punch. The effect on his legs was the cause of the awkward way in which he went down.
It might of had somthing to do with the punch, but I would point out that Vitali was moving backwards so there was no leverage in the punch itself, ..It wasn't that hard.
Case in point: During Vitalis carreer he has never ever put someone down from a punch like that, let alone in the 1st round. He doesn't have that sort of exposiveness.. He puts his shots together over the 10 rounds of a fight to get his Ko's
I hope Solis gets another shot, He's more than capable of beating Vitali. (Less so against Wladimir with the faster feet)
Guys will be suprised at how easy Vitali can be outboxed.
virgil's calm straightforward response just made cunningham look like a clown. Kevin cunningham should just keep quiet. He isn't at all entertaining like angel but yet he likes yapping his mouth off. Oh well. Atleast he's not ruben guerrero.

Lets give benifit of the doubt before we declare him guilty of anything. remember this is the same RUSADA that the Klitschko's team doubts enough to threaten to have his fight with Povetkin pulled.
Its suspicious that Hyrunov declared no testing would be in place, an only asked for samples once his fighter got beaten to a pulp later in the dressing room.
The "Danny" guy he's referring to in the interview is Danny Kelly (I think). He's a good heavyweight prospect from the DC area.
He reminds me abit of Lawrence Clay-Bey. But hopefully without the lazyness.
I've seen this guy before on an undercard, he's actually got some talent, so maybe you guys should reserve judgement till you get a handle on him. kinda a boxer-counterpuncher with some power. His trainer is Jesse Reid..
Is Dino Duva still (cough, laugh) promoting?
I guess so.. He totally fell off the radar for a few years.
As for the Chinese boxer he just signed, Meng. He's a real talent! I saw him at the Olympics he looked impressive.
I hope he's Knee is healed up an ready to go..
He's got a slim chance of getting a rematch before the end of this year, but if he does ...Vitali's reign will be over
I still find it hilarious people say "Solis was tagging Vitali. He was winning the fight." Oh yea? So was Corrie Sanders. Look at how that turned out. It's what Vitali does. He adapts. Then he administers violence accordingly. Solis is nothing. He'll be fighting on Prizefighter in a few years.
The point with Solis being a competitive fighter against Vitali, is that stylewise it matches up well an actually suits him better.
There Is a correct way and an incorrect to fight a big guy like Vitali, Its off the back foot, using straight shots. Solis has this skill and the technique to make Klitschko look very odd..
Like he did in that 1st round, he was winning.
I don't hate him. He just had a chance to be something above the lighter weight classes in boxing.
I think being a pro boxer right now is the best thing that could have happened to him. Right now boxing is the in thing in Japan and it's not like it's an insanely difficult task to go pro. The basics will always be the basics. I just hope he takes a couple months off then comes back and becomes a pro.
Yeah agree with this, He's got everything to be a sucessful Professional. It was interesting to see his pro style be so effective against the top amateurs out there, he's got great stamina, good infighting, and Considering most of todays Pro's rarely accomplish much as amateurs Internationally, his gold medal means he's well ahead of the curve.
He should go for it.
