So 1 loss to an ATG HW means he isn't good or could never be and ATG himself now?
Correction: one loss to an ATG HW that was out of shape and way over the hill, while Vitali was in his prime.
They would have had to have gotten through Wlad and Vitali, and the division isn't as bad as ppl make it out to be.
With an exception for that 70's era of HWs there has always been just a couple of very good fighters head and shoulders above the rest in every era and this eras fighters who are better than everyone happen to be Wlad and Vitali.
Fighters who dominate eras always eventually end up being recognized as and spoken of in comparison with other ATGs and Wlad and Vitali will be no different in time when they are no longer fighting.
Of course there's gonna be fighters that stand out above the rest, but that has nothing to do with it.
All the fighters from that 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s that were rated below the top dogs of the division then (ie. Ali, Holmes, Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis) were unbelievably better than any of the fighters rated below the Klitschko's today.
This is, without a doubt, the worst era in modern heavyweight history. FFS, an obese Chris Arreola has been a top 10 heavyweight, for a while now.
Vitali Klitschko vs Lennox Lewis
THE TRUTH
Vitali took the fight on just 10 days notice.
Vitali was clearly winning the fight 4-2 on all 3 scorecards at the time of the controversial doctor stoppage. Lewis was badly hurt and was staggering around the ring like a drunk, he barely survived the 2nd round. Lewis was getting outboxed, outworked, outlanded and was hurt several times in the fight.
punches landed
Vitali 156
Lewis 102
Lewis was exhausted, worn down and hurt from the accumulation of punches and was ready to get KTFO again, he collapsed onto his stool at the end of the 6th round, Vitali was the fresher of the two, he was a man on a mission and would've KO'd Lewis for sure if the fight had continued.
All the fans at Staples Center cheered for Vitali and booed Lewis after the fight.
Lewis promised Vitali a rematch.
Vitali destroyed Kirk Johnson in 2 rounds and called out Lewis again in the post fight interview. The scared Lewis retired shortly after that fight.
Lewis turned down 30 million dollars for a rematch and retired like a coward because he knew he would get destroyed by Vitali.
Vitali dominated Lewis and scared him into retirement.
lol.. nothing but excuses and fabricated stories.
Lewis was old, out of shape and over the hill, yet he managed to turn a prime Vitali into a pizza face.
Imagine what a prime version of Lewis would've done to him.
ok vitali loss to lewis... jeez christ the fight was 6 years ago, get over it.. thats all you klitschko haters can cling to, is the lewis fight... thats all you got on him....
Lewis was out of shape and way over the hill, yet he was the best fighter Vitali ever faced.. and he got messed up.
I wouldn't know all of that, because it's just your opinion, idiot. Tyson and Holyfield have beat noone and have losses to bums like Douglas or LHWs like Moorer, the only difference is they are american so they get excused for their losses.
I'll do whatever I want BTW, if you don't like it you can do me a favour and go suck a dick.
lol.. exposed. :bottle:
What is Mike Tyson's best win?
Take your pick:
1) A 91-second knockout over undefeated and future hall of famer Michael Spinks
or
2) A fourth round knockout over top 5 ATG heavyweight and hall of famer Larry Holmes
What is Larry Holmes best win - an old, shot Ali?
Norton or Cooney. Both of them being better fighters than anyone Vitali has beaten.
Vitali Klitschko:
- has dominated every opponent he has ever faced.
- 38 KOs in 40 wins.
- great chin, never been down.
- has never trailed on the scorecards.
- only man ever to be world heavyweight champ in boxing AND kickboxing.
- is 39 years old now, came back after a 4 year layoff and is still dominating the heavyweight division. His comeback record is 5-0, 4 KOs. He hasn't lost a single round in his comeback.
Interesting, but I'd still like to know who's the best fighter he ever beat.
it wasnt a win but his fight against Lennos Lewis when he was ahead on scorecards and smacking Lewis around the ring till the fight got stopped cause of a cut Vitali had. His fight with Sanders was a reall classic and coming back from a 3 year lay off to dominate then champion sam peter was a pretty big deal too
So his legacy is defined by a loss to a better fighter?
No one win makes you an ATG, its the sum of your career as a whole and we can't really judge someone as one of the best ever or not until its all said and done for them.
Vitali's career is almost done. I remember him saying he's only fighting a few more times.
An over the hill Shannon Briggs is his next opponent. Could that be his greatest win?

What is Tyson's win? What's Holyfield's win?
Tyson: 91-second knockout of undefeated and hall of famer Michael Spinks or fourth round knockout of top 5 ATG heavyweight and hall of famer Larry Holmes
Holyfield: Undefeated Riddick Bowe or knockout of 45-1 Mike Tyson
Take your pick.
The Peter win was good after coming off of a 4 year long lay off and the Sanders win was good too but there is something to be said for longevity.
It to me is more about being consistent than 1 or another big win otherwise Rahman and McCall would be ATG material.
Just about any modern ATG heavyweight would've cruised through this garbage era. Nothing to really brag about.
Larry Holmes past his prime and Spinks a LHW.
Riddick Bowe is a great win because he beat who? Mike Tyson who lost to bum Buster Douglas? Lol.
Thanks for playing.
It's easy to dissect fighter's resume, talk **** about them and try to make them look bad, we can keep this up all day.
Holmes was coming off a disputed decision loss to Spinks. Many people thought he won the fight. Also, he ended up beating an undefeated Ray Mercer 4 years later. So he wasn't that much past his best in which Tyson doesn't get a lot of credit for the win.
Spinks did great as a heavyweight. He out-boxed an undefeated Holmes to win a clear decision and dismantled Gerry Cooney within 5 rounds.
Bowe might not have the greatest resume, but he's no doubt a great fighter. He clearly beat an undefeated and prime version of Holyfield. He was fast, powerful, and would have been a tough fight for any heavyweight in history.
Douglas, in the Tyson fight, was an outstanding heavyweight. If he had been as dedicated as he was on that night throughout his whole career, who knows what he could've accomplished.
But you wouldn't know any of this. You just search up BoxRec without watching actual fights.
Do us all a favor. Go back to watching Vitali fight trash, overweight fighters, such as Mr. Arreola:

I presume you are 90 years old and have seen all of these fights involving several contenders from every era spanning from the 1920s until now right?
There are plenty of fighters who would have done well in other eras, take a look as Eddie Chambers he is a well schooled fighter who is just too small to make it to the top today.
I could see him giving plenty of good fighters closer to his size from the past a run for their money.
I just watch old fights from those particular eras. You should try it. It'll help your boxing knowledge.
Eddie Chambers? Wow. Why don't you name me a couple of heavyweight contenders and/or titlists from other eras that he would've beaten? I wanna see how much more you can make me laugh.
Why bother? Its all up to opinion anyway seeing as none of it can never be proven, but I have watched what fights from old timers I could find and I am just not impressed with the majority of them. Thats my opinion but even if I don't think they were that incredible they dominated in the time they fought and all ATGs can ever really be judged against are the fighters in their eras.
Wlad and Vitali dominate this era now regardless of what anyone thinks of the comp and when they are gone both will be more appreciated and spoken of in equal terms with others who dominated their era, we call those guys ATG HWs.
You won't bother because you don't know any. It's fine. Just admit that you overrated him for a second to try and win a debate.
If you don't take into account the quality of the fighters that a certain fighter has beaten (in this case, Vitali), and just go by his ranking from that era alone, your ATG list must not be very good.
No, the same Ali that took credit for beating 177 lbs and 180 pounders, while managing an impressive 60% KO ratio against these LHWs, that's the Ali that would beat Wlad.
LOL
At least Ali never got KTFO by a 24-13-1 unknown. :fing02:
