nah i totally realize that.....but i dont think that loma went into a 12 round fight without simulating them.....i know sparring is just a simulation and they dont really mirror the "real thing"......but loma and his team arent stupid...they knew what they were getting into....im sure they were sparring 12 rounders and prob putting a new guy in there every 3 rounds and whatever.......they didnt go into this thing blind
that being said...im not knocking loma...i think hes great...i really do....just saying..i dont buy that excuse that people make for him....loma felt comfortable going into it....they knew what they were dealing with....they arent strangers to the sport
Actually Loma does 15 round sparing with different guy every 3 round.
Loma said few days ago on live stream to some Russian youtuber that he will hang the gloves when he will unify all titles (in any division). So there might be some 2 years left before Loma leaves and Arum knows that his next big star is Lopez. So he should be careful to match Lopez against Loma so early. Arum might setup this fight as Loma last fight.
Lol, good one
You're right but unifications trumps over mandatory. So maybe Besputin can wait and he may end up fighting Spence later on :biggthump
Btw, isn't he a Top Rank fighter?
He is TOP Rank fighter. So the only way to get title shot against Thuruman/Pacman is to force WBA to order mandatory defense like they did with Loma Crolla.
One of the main questions will be whether Anatoly Lomachenko will be in Usyk corner and had been secretly preparing him for this fight, same as he did for Gasiev fight.
The training camp was in the same place so I would bet my money on that. This will be huge help for Usyk, as he schooled Gasiev at that fight.
I heard Crawford is in need of a dance partner right now
Besputing not big enough name for Crawford. But I think he is nr 1 in WBA ranking so soon will become mandatory if not already.
Loma is just talking of moving back down to 130 because he obviously does not want the smoke at 140. Retiring healthy is better than fame and fortune.
It's pity that Loma was not gifted with decent reach. 65½ reach basically is cutting his options to move up. It will be very difficlut to get in range with strong guys from 140 taking into account he is small for 135.
Mayweather had amazing 72″ reach which allowed him to compete at higher weight classes.
All that is correct but I'm still not impressed with his performance last night.
Linares has been brutally knocked out before by lesser fighters so that wasn't a big of a deal. Pedraza is only a few fights removed from being humiliated by Tank Davis.
Nothing impressive about his last 2 wins.
Loma said in first place that Pedraza style is not enjoyable on the ring. Loma loves when opponent comes to him so he can catch him with the counter. You could see that he tried to make Pedraza come towards him, also you could hear from Papachenko in corner ''Strech him'', Loma also said this after the fight that he tried to convince Pedraza that he has chance to win. Pedraza knew he would be in danger by coming towards Loma. Also Pedraza have decent defense with good body movement.
Taking into account that Pedraza took Davis fight on short notice and had to drain him self to make weight he did pretty well for first half of the fight. I think he just was lacking decent fight plan for Davis like he had against Loma.
Davis and Mikey has more suitable fight style for Loma. Styles makes fights.
None. I don't even consider Lomachenko elite or great, far from it.
He's fought nothing great or elite. Who's his career defining fight? He's fought a bunch of bums and people at a weight or age disadvantage. He couldn't even shine in fights with bums like Linares or Campbell. Those must be elite to you too? He's fighting a kid with 15 fights next.
To each their own.
Look at size and reach advantage of Loma last opponents. He could not dominate as he did in previous fights as he had massive reach and height disadvantage. He had to stay a lot in firing range of these bigger guys to get in distance to hit them.
Who else from elite boxers could dominate guys much bigger then he? Pacman? But Pacman has same issues. He is venerable to bigger guys as he has to get close to them. He has excellent leg and hand speed, but his style led to light off against Marquez.
Lopez size is similar to Crolla. Loma had no problem to find range with Crolla. So Lopez will be easiest test for Loma for past 4 fights except Crolla, as Crolla was kind a bum compering to rest.
Loma by KO in last 3 rounds by body punch or TKO.
Every fighter wants to fight an opponent that's there to be hit.
Pedraza style isn't that special where it should bother Lomachenko if he's supposed to be the P4P king.
What I meant is that it is hard to give exciting fight with guy that runs away from you whole fight, doesn't take risk and is there to survive 12 rounds not to win them.
In Davis fight Pedraza had fought different fight.
Loma vs Teofimo will be same as Mayweather vs Canelo. Canelo loss to Floyd did not spoil his career. Canelo still became great fighter. So Teo loss to Loma will not spoil his future.
Looking how easy Comey jab landed in first round leaves no doubt in my mind who will win this fight.
Also when they were standing togethet Loma looked taller. Loma will not fall into that streight right hand after Linares lesson. Loma by late stopage
