Why did you guys think he would announce it today anyways? If he accepts or announces something, it will be late Friday night or after the deadline for drama effect.
it would have been REAL ideal. both pac and may were there. the espys are/were infront of a national/even international crowd apparently (if dude was watching it and it was 4:30 where he was at) AND some of the best athletes and stars in the world... would have made for GREAT hype. but yeah... still 2 days left. let's make it happen please.
wow. that's an astute observation. so puerto ricans don't support their own? mexicans don't either? etc...? and especially since buboy is head trainer... of course pacman is gonna support bernabe. gtfo. who cares?! and yeah, juanma "should" win.
Abregu wasn't some tomato can he was undefeated and he had the height advantage and reach advantage. So to expect Bradley to come in and just dominate wasn't realistic. yeah he was more talented but come on. the only reason top rank wants pac vs cotto or margarito is because it's an easy way to get that 8th division title. People would rather see pac fight bradley or berto instead of that bullshit!
you're right, abregu isn't some tomato can... but is as slow as one. maybe not a good analogy but you know what i mean. bradley out-classed him as he should have, but he was a bit wild, a bit unrefined and left himself open often (where a faster guy would be able to take advantage). and like i said in an earlier post, he's been hurt by witter and floored by holt (both w.in the last couple years). thus i don't think he's ready yet.
if pac would fight mosly n beat him they would say WOW but if floy kicks mosly ass there going to say y didnt he fight him 10 yr ago just like they did oscar when he won there like whatever but when pac beat him they were like OMG lol thats S T U P I T
coming from a pac fan, i gotta say that there's some definite truth in that. but don't get it twisted, if this fight happens and mayweather puts in a solid beat down on mosley, it WILL be a major sticking point in legitimizing his legacy.
Isn't Pac still holding a belt@140? Didn't Pac and his team say on Road To Dallas that Pac is naturally a 135-140 pounder? Neither Cotto 2 nor Cheato are better fights than Pac/Bradley especially@140. Your the hater cause you hate the truth.
I'm not positive but I think he vacated his title at 140... and yes. I'm the hater
Dont kid yourself no one bothers themselves with Arum anymore, Dont expect GBP to come out and issue statements denying Arum's BS. They know sensible people knows Arum is a joke so no need to issue statements to please any retards who cant see through Arum.
Just because you (and many, many others) don't hold any weight to what Arum says... the fact is TR and GBP are two of the biggest (if not THE biggest) promotional companies in boxing today. It'd be dumb on GBP's part to not refute comments which they are directly stated in, involving a fight that includes one of their own--especially IF the comments are false.
So you don't bother to be factual when you troll, do you?
Hatton had won two straight before fighting Pac, including the guy people considered second best in the division.
Cotto was coming off two straight wins, including a win over Clottey, who has even when he loses has made everyone but Pac look bad.
Those don't count though because Hatton and Cotto were washed up or something, right?
... add to that list (fighters since JMM that had a "win streak" up to facing Pacquiao): David Diaz. In FACT Clottey is the ONLY fighter since JMM that had a loss before facing Pacquiao.
I really hate when haters TRY to discredit Pacman by saying he ONLY fights guys coming off of losses (or in this case, hasn't had a win streak).
Didn't LeBron already choose the Heat last week?. It's The Decision 2010 pt 2! at least that's how it's playing out to be (if for no one else, the boxing world)... except that Mayweather and his entire camp have said absolutely nothing. Which I can appreciate but at the same time is frustrating.
As far as Arum's willingness to openly speak about plan B, C, D, etc..., this should be seen as a ploy to accomplish two things: 1. have something set for November 13 for Pac regardless of the opponent (if not Mayweather, it'll need that much more hype built for it and justification to defend it. and if it is Mayweather, to milk the living shit out of an easy blockbuster.) 2. it let's Mayweather know the ball is/has been in his court, but the world won't stop spinning because of his decision.
Also, it's easy to say that Mayweather is ducking or scared to fight Pac... but people tend to forget the potential legal ramifications his uncle is potentially facing. If he potentially cannot be in his corner--then what does he do? Back out? Imagine what people would say then. Stay and fight? A risky bet for an undefeated, prideful fighter.
Ultimately I just wish he would acknowledge that he received the terms and is analyzing the details and exploring all possibilities. But I'm guessing we'll just have to wait 2/3 more days. PLEASE, LET'S GET THIS FIGHT ON!
As far as his foundation and summer boxing camp--session 1 ended on Monday (12th). The next begins on the 19th. And they last daily until 12:30p.
Finally, as far as media/journalists/etc... I'm sure you all have tried... but instead of waiting for public announcements/comments (in general, them getting a hold of you), what has the effort been to do some investigative reporting and GET A HOLD of GBP and Team Mayweather for comments?
Jr. still has time...maybe he'll come to his sense and sign; or at the very worse come up with an excuse of why he wouldn't take the fight.
rest assured pare, Mayweather will say something. Let's just hope it's to accept the terms and get the fight happening! Still two days. At least he isn't doing an hour-long "special" to announce his decision.
Best wishes! He has had a relatively speedy recovery thusfar, all things considered. Hopefully the rest of his recovery is just as smooth and swift. Z was an extremely solid boxer and athlete, and though he may never fight again, his heart and talent are an inspiration to boxers, fans and fellow Filipinos.
Which is why thier system was beat on several occasion, look at marion jones
you know i was thinking the same arguement. but you have to consider that usada wasn't established until october '00 and (i think) jones wasn't convicted (as in accused and received reprecussions for) for anything before the '00 olympics. and also the extreme technological gains since then. i'm still standing firm that this ALL was a "business" decision.
oh yeah... replay to start soon on sopcast
http://www.myp2p.eu/broadcast.php?matchid=80417∂=sports
yup... i really didn't want to see this headline before watching the fight though. damn. aw well. still will enjoy it.
Nathanielz Is the sonny boy of journalists a bum no one gives a fukk about except other shitlipinos!!! Hahahahhaha
i forgot that boxing is restricted to america. don't like the title, don't read. and better yet, don't post on it.
that's my man and all... but pac looks like a straight Filipino Justin Bieber. Get your hair right man! I guess if you can kick just about anyone's ass in the ring you can get away with something like that.
my ears hurt from reading these responses
wow. i'm guessing a lot of you don't read what you write before you hit the 'post' button. in fact i think many of you are either a.) children or b.) incredibly dumb to say what you're saying.
-baracuda, please stop posting on this thread (or maybe any thread pertaining to pacquiao). you give his fans (myself included) a bad name.
-to whoever said that they were a fan and then went on to continually bash pac and his career-- what are you proving by lying?
-next, yes. mosley is taking random tests until the day of the fight. he also was (or is, who knows for now?) a known user. he also is set to have the biggest pay day of his career and doesn't have the leverage (rightfully so or not) to negotiate otherwise. with pac, nothing except for suggestions RECENTLY made gave all you pac haters something to really rally around. with pac, he could also demand a ridiculous penalty for coming over weight because may JUST did that (came in overweight). again, these accusations about pac all stem from suggestions RECENTLY made. what ever happened to the a-side meth comments made by one of the originators of these suggestions?
-pac-mayweather (i hope) WILL happen. here's why: mayweather didn't want to fight pac right after jmm. may's camp knew they would have to heavily submit to pac's camp in negotiations (after all may did just come back from a year-and-a-half layoff during which pac was shining). what seeds could they plant in people to negatively explain how this fighter progressed so far from where he started (other than hard work and dedication, of course)? steroids. they used this previously unused card in boxing knowing that suggesting it would cause outrage in pac's camp (as they say-who are they to enforce usada in an all ready regulated sport?). this bought may's camp time to get another fighter and boost their leveraging position (and mosley is perfect. an undeniable top ww. and one who previously used PEDs. and one who submitted to the test only boosts their position even more). assuming may wins, the fight will happen because in the next round of negotiations may will accept nothing less than 60-40, maybe even 65-35 (but i really doubt pac's camp will accept the latter). and the drug tests? may won't care and will accept 14, or 17, or whatever days because in the end he wins the negotiation by earning more of the split. and like flomos, fans and pactards all agree on-- may is about money.
Pac didnt wanna fight sh*t but damaged goods like he's negotiating now. Pac's whack ass fans make him out to be this warrior but warrior go after the best not the wounded. This will be Manny's 6 damaged fighter in a row. "6"
yo, you're just a hater. plain and simple. first, from your response to my post: 1. why would pac go down to 140--to fight bradley? gtfo. i like bradley but there's no way he has that kind of pull. and besides, if pac were to move down in weight, marquezIII would be much more enticing to the general public. but that's all besides the point, i remember him saying he wants to stay at 147.
2. pac's last 6 fighters and their previous opponent/result.
1--Clottey (Cotto/L)
2--Cotto (Clottey/W)
3--Hatton (Malignaggi/W)
4--De La Hoya (Forbes/W)
5--Diaz (Montano/W)
6--Marquez (Juarez/W)
While I understand some boxers aren't the same after certain losses.. c'mon. Haters are just going to hate though.
Manny would get slammed if he fought Shane now. But let's face it, he deserves to get slammed for pretending his only other options aside from Floyd are Cotto and Margarito - two guys he definitely shouldn't be fighting.
I don't agree with the possible Cotto/Margarito fights. But slammed if he fought Shane? C'mon. 1--no way. needs no further explanation than that. 2--should that fight happen, flomos would have a field day saying Pac is just picking on another defeated fighter.
it's a lose-lose situation, which sadly is too often the case in boxing and their fans. too many excuses one way or another...
is the fight on friday
ESPN Friday Night Fights! Huge names for that program. I hope 1. it's entertaining and 2. there are plenty of viewers so ESPN can justify putting these kind of quality names/reputations on their program consistently. Though there actually have been a number of real good matches/names on Friday Night Fights so far.
Berto's a bit stronger.
Both have quick hands.
Bradley is more agile and athletic.
Berto's a short welterweight and Bradley wouldn't have to reach as much.
Bradley can lean that bald head in and smack Berto in the chin with it if Berto tries to do his usual hit and hold style.
pretty decent analysis. but I'd say that berto is quite a bit stronger (at least the MUCH heavier puncher. 26-0 (20 KOs).
I'd give bradley agility too, but not sure about athleticism. And I'd also add that Berto lacks stamina vs Bradley.
When Lou said that Berto wasn't a big ww, I nearly lost my head... dude is massive. then reading your post it dawned on me. height-wise he's not big. yeah, it's early.
you're giving Mayweather camp way too much credit I don't think they could have planed all of that and I don't think they have a crystal ball to see the future
black magic- you're probably right. i could be waaaay off base. but it's all calculated risk. profit and loss models are huge in business. i'm willing to bet (well not really) that this was all intended in some way or another.
Thats good news for most of you NSB members who talk so much **** about boxing. Now you can get your fat asses up and go fight another fat dork who thinks hes some expert.
"MOST" being the key word. I've fought amateur and was going to participate in a tourney called "broker boxing" in chicago when I was working there. Now I'm working in Midtown and will definitely be looking forward to getting involved with this. Glad it's now available.
But I do agree with you for the most part... except those fat asses won't be fighting... they'll just keep talking. it'll probably MOSTLY be those yolked douche bags that JUST lift weights for size and think they're badass...
A Pinoy boxer robbed a Mexican boxer not too long ago IN MEXICO. I think it was Z Gorres. Don't remember.
No Z. He was in Vegas where he ultimately collapsed and was hospitalized.
I think Montiel deserves the fight in Mexico though it would be a GREAT fight for a Pac undercard too.
As far as home advantage, of course it's not the end all... but please don't be so ignorant to completely dismiss it.
Abraham - Miranda, Dirrell - Froch, Malignaggi - Diaz 1 (in Houston). But like I said, home advantage shouldn't (more often than not, DOESN'T) determine the outcome of the fight. And Montiel has earned the right--still would be GREAT for the Pac undercard, though.
incredible
geez-us. some of you guys are ridiculous. it's like there's NOTHING will justify Pacman (or Mayweather even... but he's not in the discussion) deserving ANY win. Oh, it's catchweight. Oh, weight drained. Oh, opponent was overrated to begin with. Oh, they were past their prime.
Margs is a fighter. He'll eat punches, he'll throw punches. That's basically his game plan in a nut shell. If he gets full off your punches before you get full of his, he loses. So there's no way this is not an entertaining fight. Both are bound to throw countless punches. Both are bound to get hit clean. Both will continue to throw punches until there's a stoppage, or someone submits. I don't see this going the distance unless either chin and endurance are off the chart.
ANYWAY, back to my point. A lot of you just seem like you're covering bases, and it's ridiculous. If Pac wins... it's because of whatever reason you list (catchweight, weight drained, FIXED FIGHT, etc). And if Marg wins, it's distractions, foot injury, or you wave the margs flag and forget that you were guaranteeing a pacman victory because of this corrupt boxing system.
Is there truth to many of the points being made like distractions, weight drained, etc..? of course. but to state a fight is the result of SOLELY x, y, or z is ridiculous. The NFL is only 16 regular season games. So every game counts (in boxing, your record is your life). But these excuses aren't as regular as they are in boxing. When was the last Superbowl you saw where you encountered as many excuses leading up to and after the match?
Enjoy the fight. And if you're really opposed to it, then don't. Either way it'll be entertaining.
Lmao CO-fckinSIGN!! I have no idea what's going on in their head. I believe they are doing this so Mayweather can come out as the bad guy who refused to accept the terms, but in reality they never said what was in that contract and i bet the 14 day cut off is there so is a money split that Mayweather will refuse. Floyd is quiet ignoring these clowns because they don't understand english. What Floyd says it goes in thru one ear and out the other and they keep playing kiddy games. Floyd probably saw the contract and threw it away like "i thought i told them on national TV that i didn't want this" lol smh.
GBP is also to blame then if they (along with TR) BOTH agreed to the terms before sending it over to Mayweather for approval. I know people hate on Arum and TR a lot here, and a lot of it is justified-sure, but it's not like Arum and co. just gave Mayweather a wish list for him to agree to. GBP worked on it too. They negotiated, came to an agreement. It was sent to Pac who accepted it, and similarly sent to Mayweather who has been mute about it.. 2 days folks.
