The World Boxing Council is announcing that in its next ratings, it will grant Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. the status of official challenger of the Middleweight world champion, Sergio “The Marvel” Martinez, of Argentina.

The bout will take place after the next voluntary defense of Martinez, a fight that has already been scheduled.

The South American southpaw, “The Marvel”, who is 35 years old, has shaped a record of 49 wins, 24 of them by knockout, 2 losses and 2 draws, whereas the Mexican challenger, “The Son to the Legend”, remains undefeated after 41 wins and 1 draw; 30 of his wins have been by KO. Julio Cesar is ranked number in the WBC ratings and is 24 years old.

The aforementioned facts will be confirmed in Cancun, Quintana Roo, within the works of the 48th WBC Annual World Convention that will be held from October 31st to November 6th, 2010.
