I just want to say that ive known Nate for many years now, and he truly is a Great guy. He would do anything for a friend. On top of that he is very intelligent and well grounded.
I don't believe these charges are true and im sure they have been blown out of proportion. Unfortunately for Nate he is a successful boxer and that makes him a target. What the average man or woman may get a warning for, he is more like to be paraded around in handcuffs.
Hopefully this will get resolved quickly.
This is Al Seeger - and i can say that we have bee trying over and over to get Arum's people to match me against Concepcion.
They arent interested because they dont want to test this kid, they want to protect him with easy fights.
Even now, with his opponant out, we still cant seem to get the fight.?
Why?
Thank you Everyone
This is Al Seeger and I wanted to thank Jake and everyone else here - for an excellent article and coming to my defense.
This is the first day a serious headache hasn't kept me from getting online.
I do believe that Fonseca purposefully used his head as a weapon throughout the bout. This morning was the first time ive seen the video.
The butt that caused me the most damage seemed to occur at 2:28 of round two. Its not a great angle to see, but i can hear the crack it made. For the rest of round two and three there is also an obvious indentation in my forehead.... this was the result of my sinus cavity being smashed inwards. I think after the third round, the area started to swell which made it appear normal again.
The doctors who viewed my scans and fixed the damage have emphatically reiterated how lucky i am to be alive. Apparently, once the cavity was smashed, every subsequent blow contained a much greater danger.
I would like to contend this loss with Texas and ask that the result be changed to a No Contest. Im not looking to punish my opponent or anyone else - but i don't think he should be rewarded either. A message must be sent out to fighters - that headbutts are not ok. They are extremely dangerous and should be looked at more seriously.
Im not sure if my boxing career is over or not. If it turns out to be so - im ok with it. Im satisfied knowing that i didn't have to cheat to win. Hopefully my healing will come well and i can get back to training again soon.
Reading this article and the comments attached has been a Great Honor.
Thank You again Jake and everyone here at BoxingScene.
