I can only think of one weightclass where there is no reasonable dispute over the best ever...Cruiser.
Even something as paltry as Super-Middle is left somewhat to opinion, because though Jones was patently the best ever at the weight, Calzaghe's longevity & domination of the weightclass is difficult to ignore, muddying the waters a little.
Now that Manny is a full 154 lber, JMM and Pacquiao should meet at the middle at 147.
The 140 division isn't a real division. I'm going old school where they had less division so JMM only has to move up 1 weight class. from lightweight to welterweight.
You cannot simply pretend a division does not exist because you don't care for it. Like it or not, it's a real entity, a real weightclass. Marquez would be stepping up two weightclasses, & Pacquiao coming down one. Just take a look at that photo from not so long ago of Pacquiao standing alongside 140lber Amir Khan --- he's just not that big a man. Marquez, on the other hand, is at his limits as a Lightweight, wrestling with the likes of Diaz & Katsidis --- if the fight is anywhere above Jr. Welter, expect Pacquiao to dominate.
I went, tentatively, with Marquez. Anyone saying such-&-such is by far or, "undisputably," the best of the three, I could not disagree more.
It is a damn close-run thing, & there is a legitimate case for any of the trio being ranked first, second, or third.
Marquez by a nose, here.
Mayweather is an idiot. Dude, you're rich because of the fans. Give back to the fans, jackass. It's a ****ing video game!
It simply would never occur to him, not for one mimute, to think of this angle.
A fully-fledged Jr. Middleweight? After one fight? In a division which Roach had previously declared Pacquiao would never compete in, since going past Welterweight was too risky?
Hardly.
The fight should, by rights, be taking place at Jr. Welter (though it won't).
Am I right in remembering Steward ran commentary during Hamed's fight with Barrera? Does that mean he'd left the corner by that stage, & if so, who was in his place?
I'm positive I remember hearing Steward doing commentary for HBO as Hamed was unravelling against Barrera.
