Had zero knowledge of Rico before this fight, but was extremely impressed with his constant movement - was certain he was going to gas out. I had the same impression of Jarrell Miller early on, but look how that turned out. Surely, there was testing done.
Loma never looked spectacular at 135 lbs and he has zero power. Not sure where he goes from here. Would make zero sense to fight any of the contenders at 140. Don't even know why Haney's name is being brought up when he probably has one foot in the door at 154.
It was just a bad overall job by the ref. Seemed over his head, couldn't keep the fighters under his control. They're hitting behind the head, after the bell, falling out of the ring, rolling around on the canvas, constant clinching. Serious blunders with a couple of the knockdowns. You have Chisora's corner man running in the ring for some reason lol. It was ridiculous. I'm almost okay with corrupt refs at this point, at least get someone who can play the role better.
I can see Usyk end up fighting Wilder next if WIlder dispatches of Chisora in spectacular fashion. Like it or not, there was already some buzz around this fight.
The site is on shaky legs, bots have taking over the first page of posts. There are like 2 posts managing to hang on to the front page and this is one of them.
I like this fight. It's a unification and Haney'a not forcing the other champs to fight one another so he can scoop up multiple belts like he did with Kam. Not the deepest level of competition at WW but that's what it is.
I imagine there's an optimal sweet spot to maximize profit between free cards and PPVs, but this ain't it. How do you ever expect to grow the sport when putting walls up around your product? Just a short-sighted cash grab all around.
One of the huge benefits of being a prospect at TR was exposure to a huge television audience so early in their career. That and probably getting overpaid a bit. Where does it go now...
