Pirog has way better defense than Pavlik. The blueprint for Kelly Pavlik is already printed out. The only thing about Dmitry is lack of pro bout experience and he is 30.
If this fight takes place, it put a lot of pressure on the Promoter as well. The promoter puts Dmitry against Kelly, if Dmitry wins, he obviously has to fight at that level of elite fighters...true? If that is true, IMO, fighting at that level with that much pro bout experience is a little dangerous. He's going to be fighting real world champions that have been in wars, and title shots/defenses...Daniel Jacobs wasn't even close to being a real world champion.
So for the promoter, they have to take a chance..."Do we gamble with Dmitry and put him in with the elite fighters? or should we slow play him for a few more fights, start a large fan base, then start giving him big fights...?"
Dmitry is a potential star. A Russian, with superb defense, knock out power, solid offense...in the eyes of a promoter, it's a gamble.
Damn, he has some nerve to even be talking...dude ****in' ducked Cotto, to fight Alfonso Gomez...shaking my damn head....
I hope that he becomes mandatory opponent for Williams/Martinez winner.
