I find it annoying too. I don't know why he's trying to imitate Pac when he can do his own thing. He can't take punches like Pacquiao, so he should really try and focus on his defense instead of trying trade like Pac. We saw what happened when he left himself open, he was on the verge of getting knocked out.
I don't understand why Floyd thinks he's bigger than the sport of boxing. Who is he to tell other fighters what to do? When it comes to boxing, he's just another fighter, who people pay to see. He needs to man up and face Pacquiao. Let the commision handle everything else.
Pacman doesn't need Floyd. He's already accomplished more than Floyd has. Floyd should be the one begging Pacquiao for this fight. Pacman can retire happily, he's done it all.
Marquez. He's had some tremendous fights lately.
Money doesn't even fight enough to be on the list. Really, others are fighting 2-3 times a year, while he comes out once every year.
Why does Marquez have to prove himself with lesser known fighters? The man's a living legend. Sure his last few opponents haven't been superstars, but are Berto and Bradley superstars? Marquez has done enough to earn a 3rd match with Pacman. Arum needs to cut the bs and give Marquez a well deserved rubber match with Pacquiao.
This is just a tune-up match before a rematch with Margarito. Let's remember that Cotto hasn't been in the ring since June of this year, so we can't expect him to jump right into the biggest rematch of his career. It should be an enteratining fight though. Can't wait to see Cotto back in action!
I think this would be a good fight, but Martinez is just too big for Pac. The guys a legit middleweight. He said he couldn't go below 154 and in order for a fight with Pac to go down, it would most likely have to be at a catch weight of 150 at least.
True, but I'd rather see them go at it at 140. We all saw how weak Marquez is at 147. There's no way he could perform the way he wants with all that extra weight. I'm a huge fan of Pacquiao, but I wish he'd go down a few pounds to face Marquez. Other than that, I think Bradley/Marquez would be a great fight to watch, and would give Marquez a chance at a fourth world title. I just don't know if he'd be willing to do it at 147.
Isn't that a similar deal to what JMM wanted? Nice cherrypicking.
Exactly what i was thinking. Marquez asks for the same amount, gets turned down. Then Mosley, who's come out with two lackluster losses in 2010 asks for the same and gets it? I love Manny, I'm a big fan, but this really makes him look bad. On one hand, I can understand him wanting to take an easier fight since he's come off some tough matches. But on the other hand, the purse issue kind of makes things look bad for him and Bob Arum.
So wait. Shane Mosley, a fighter whos gave up and lost to Floyd Mayweather and then lost a boring fight to Sergio Mora, deserves $5 mil and Marquez doesn't?! That's BS! Yeah Marquez' fights may not have been great big events, but he's still been involved in better fights than Mosley and has performed way better than Mosley has. I don't understand how Mosley can be given a guarenteed $5 mil, while Marquez asks for the same amount but is rejected. Am I the only one that thinks this is complete BS?
