I even thought they (HBO, ref) were trying to give him a way out by saving face with the doctor coming up and THEN stopping the fight (also annoucing it as due to a cut caused by a punch) but to me it was clearly obvious he quit. He got up after the knockdown and threw his arms like "I don't want any more of this" and it looked like Ortiz was either talking to the ref or the doctor when he was on his eye and then it was stopped.
Basically the interview was just a confirmation.
After watching the pre-fight promo before the fight, I had initial thought he is a little nutty (who wouldn't be in that kinda enviorment) and after his 2nd knockdown I think he just said **** this , that "rage" or whatever he stated before had left him and just wanted out.
I hope he has a future plan that doesn't involve boxing, he seems like a bright kid so hopefully he does.
I don't think he *wiil* quit, he acknowledged he didn't listen to his corner whatsoever.
I think he definetly *should* quit. He shows he doesn't have the stuff you can't measure, he basically said all the stuff you aren't suppose to say in a post fight interview. Crowd got to him, not going out on shield, doesn't want to get beat up, didn't handle swelling/cut well, quit.
Someone said in another thread that Ortiz is like Vargas and I agree in terms of *boxing skills* (and lack thereof). I would add like a Vargas level when he fought Trinidad and after.
