I'll watch it because it's the only card on. Looking to see how Hurd looks after his loss, and I want to see the Fulton fight. I never really care about Garcia regardless of who he fights.
Well said.
If Gvozdyk takes any shots as hard as he did in the 12th vs Mehdi Amar he will definitely be going to sleep. Got reckless going for the finish and was consequently nailed numerous times.
If Stevenson wins it'd be great to see him fight Bivol. Maybe that's possible in the streaming-driven boxing landscape.
What goal post is moving ?
Wilder makes 1.4 million a fight ....theres really nothing to move .
Wilder has made 2, 2.5 and 4 mil on fights. Where you getting 1.4 from?
I damn near get a boner when I see an arrogant 6-0 6 KO's fighter get trashed. Dante on the other hand has some serious boxing skills, timing, and power! Dante fights like a fighter with a 15-0 record yet he has only 5 fights. Solid.
Beauty
Whyte took the fight on 3 weeks notice, he wasnt fighting fit and beat a durable fighter. You created multiple threads calling Whyte a cheat and claiming he should be banned.
He has now been cleared by UKAD, are you finally going to apologise for calling him a cheat?
Whyte was cleared by the UKAD, but where is the B sample results? What was in his system? UKAD is a joke...Whyte wouldn't be able to finesse his way through VADA testing, so he will either get busted and lose his chance to fight Wilder, or be so weak without the sauce he gets KTFO inside of 2 rounds.
I was all aboard the Whyte fan club but with his being a cheat and Rivas getting a B.S. "L" on his record as a result, I cannot support him anymore.
This man has refused to fight anyone so his opinion is worthless. I used to be a fan but watching him vacate his title and become the "avoider" after being the "avoided" has soured my fandom.
Wake me up when Andrade actually gets in the ring with a live dog (or anyone for that matter). Until then, he isn't worthy of coverage.
The problem is Thurman wanting to go straight from fighting Barrios (a literal nobody at 147) straight to a title fight.
IF he beats someone in the top 10 convincingly, perhaps there will be demand to see him challenge for a title. He's been out of the picture too long, and the fight against Barrios doesn't really offer any good way to gauge where he is at right now. He definitely needs to fight (and beat) a Top-10 contender and then he will have some legitimacy in demanding a shot at a strap.
Enough is enough. Canelo unified the titles fighting bums. I was fine with that. Now it's time he faces either Charlo, Benavidez, or GGG.
So your solution to him fighting "bums" at 168 is to suggest he fight two other guys who have never fought at 168? Come on. He fought the guys at 168 who had the belts. Is Benavidez better than them? Maybe. But he didn't have a belt at the time.
I wouldn't mind seeing him fight GGG again, Charlo or Benavidez. But I think matchups vs any of the 175 lb champs are all good fights.
I'm ready see these Charlos step up in class. Don't see it happening under PBC. Hopefully we get the Hurd unification this year 2019 though.
Exactly my sentiments.
This was honestly a good scrap.
Not for any legitimate slot in the rankings or what have you but Stiverne was in good shape and while he ate a lot of jabs, he used decent head movement and landed some hard rights.
Trevor Bryan now has some version of the WBA belt, but anyone in the top 15-20 would crush him.
Fury is a heck of a promoter but I hope he gets KTFO. Just praying Wilder doesn't gas or eat too many shots like the one he took in the 12th after the knockdown.
A true 50-50 fight if ever there's been one.
I will be absolutely crushed if Wilder loses
Love it! Bye Andrade, the division wont miss you.
Andrade leaving 160 is just a symptom of the pathetic fighters in the division refusing to fight him. Honestly, the division is paper-thin already...without Boo Boo it's just that much worse. If Andrade is so terrible, why would no one step up and relieve him of his world title?
He boxed. Nice sideways movement, never gassed out, and his punches were effective. Not just scoring taps, but stinging jabs that snapped by Ruiz's head back over and over again. And a vicious right in the first, the impact of which sliced his brow open. People are saying Wlad mark 2, but I think the fluidity of the movement was closer to Ali than Wlad.
It is not cowardly to enter in ring and face an opponent that beat the sense out of you in your last fight. It is not cowardly to have the self-honesty to appraise your own flaws and come up with a strategy that corrects your mistakes. It is not cowardly to outbox your opponent completely.
And say what you want about running or being on a bicycle, but Joshua really could have completely avoided exchanging from the 10th onward and still won on points. But repeatedly chose to engage and win those final rounds as well.
Well said. Not my favourite type of fight to watch but in the end AJ did what he had to do and showed courage by not taking a bunch of cupcake fights in between to rebuild his confidence. Full credit to AJ, from a big Wilder fan.
Now I just hope we can get to Wilder-AJ before too long. I understand AJ will probably have to satisfy at least one mandatory before that happens, but let's pray it can be arranged before 2020 concludes.
Mr. Romero, what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Rolly is already the sh:t talking champ. He's a bit slow (physically and mentally)but I can't help but root for him after observing the buildup for this fight.
I personally can't wait for this one! Kudos to both fighters for welcoming it. I think Whyte clobbers him, but you never know. Whyte has grown on me.
All these guys doing interesting fights is a direct result of AJ/Wilder not being made right out of the gate. I think it was in a Breadman post that he mentioned lots of memorable scraps happen along the way when a big fight is unable to get made right off the hop.
Heavyweight division is motivated and has quite the spark.
who else could the charlos have fought? serious question
Charloes need to make an attempt to fight someone with credibility. They have been brought along enough already.
Jermall vs any of the top dogs is overdue. Derevyanchenko, GGG, Andrade, Jacob or hell even Murata. Something to grant him some legitimacy.
But again a problem of this generation of boxing where once you have a Loss in your record it's tough to get back to the top, so I can see why he avoids a true challenge.
Maybe he is just too loyal to his trainer or his people that got him where he is. But he definitely needs a few more tools if he wants to remain a member of the top 3 from here out.
I believe GGG is in the same boat, and I'm a fan of both he and Wilder.
I believe Browne's whole gameplan was to get up on the scorecards early, hope to cause a gash and pray for an early stoppage and win via scorecards.
He hit low on the beltline repeatedly, hit after the break repeatedly and caused that nasty cut intentionally. He wouldn't even acknowledge Beterbiev after the fight!
Probably paid someone big money to influence the ref/try to steal the belt and was salty when ref let fight continue and he ended up getting worked.
Garcia showed me something tonight. I give him his credit. Great performance. Maybe he found something with Derrick James.
If he had listened to Derrick James at all the scorecards would not have been close. That weird turning his back and refusing to jab...not sure what his thought process was. But he won so good enough! Glad the judges didn't rob him.
I don't foresee Whyte winning but for a keep-busy scrap while waiting for an opportunity to unify it's a fantastic fight! Boxing fans should be happy with this tilt. Better mandatory fight than AJ-Pulev, and better than Fury fighting some unranked stiff or sitting on the sidelines waiting for Usyk/AJ 2 winner.
I get that everybody has their favourites and whatnot but hopefully we get to see this fight and both parties sign on the dotted line. A very nice purse for Whyte and he gets his long awaited title fight. Not a big fan of Whyte or Fury but as a fan of boxing this is a scrap I will happily watch.
I like Fundora, but his progress seems to have halted. He gets hit a LOT and seems only too willing to surrender his primary advantages of height and reach to settle into a phone booth slugfest. I like Harrison but I don't think he has the power to starch Fundora, but if Fundora continues to insist on trading big punches inside, he will get KO'd eventually by someone with power... just not sure who at 154 that might be!
