Yeah Usyk was about to win regardless of the 12th. Because they were tied on 2 of the 3 judges score cards and the 11th was 10-8 for Usyk. Even if Verhoeven wins the 12th 10-9 Usyk edges him out. The only valid complaint is Verhoeven wasn't given a fair chance at landing a knockdown in the 12th but that didn't look feasible. Rico barely beat the count, the ref let him put his mouth piece back in, he was wandering all over the place, then he was getting battered at the bell.
Dude, Usyk is 39 , a little over weight, and look like he didn't take the training camp seriously and he still won lol. Granted it was controversial but he did win. Now imagine Rico against a fit, young, powerful Itauma. C'mon man.
Favourable style matchups; fatt guys he can easily outbox. Why not a fighter like Bakole instead?
Bakole is way too dangerous and he could topple the apple cart. I'd love to see Zhang vs Bakole to be honest. If Ruiz returns then he needs to fight Jarrell Miller. Tyson Fury should fight someone like Guido Vianello just so the Fury - Joshua fight can cross the finishing line.
Knyba did quite well against Kabayel. If I recall correctly the stoppage seemed too premature. So are we thinking late 2026 or early 2027 for Usyk - Kabayel? If it's the latter then Kabayel has enough time to get one more fight in during the summer. I would suggest Knyba but I doubt Kabayel's people were very happy with the punches their man was taking.
Catterall getting another chance after getting out pointed by Arnold Barboza jr. Barboza then fought Teo and haven't seen him since. I think the Giyasov Catterall fight will be a chess match instead. They'll be trying to score points instead of trying to hurt the other guy. I am really excited to see Sheeraz against Begic and I expect a demolition job from the Brit. I have to go watch film on Begic because I haven't seen him fight in a while. Torrez vs Sanchez is the most interesting fight on the card and it's a battle of a sharp shooter against a high motor guy.
A slightly smaller version of Jared Anderson. Seen this movie before...
He doesn't really fight the same way as Anderson though. Jared took a risk and didn't listen to his team when he fought Bakole. Torrez seems to make better decisions in and out of the ring tbh.
Albright absolutely dog**** to watch, clinching for survival. Davis up to 147 is a hard sell, he looked small in there, thin frame. Him and Teo should get it at 140. The best thing that could happen to Davis is to get sat on his backside, way too ****y.
Keyshawn should really focus on Lindolfo Delgado. It's a good fight and he would become a 2 division Champ.
This is no surprise, two popular fighters and the fight will sell well. Not a 50/50 fight but either guy can win.
This day and age popular fighters really don't have to fight their way into contention for a title or big money fight.
You're really devaluing Ryan's boxing ability by saying that Benn has a chance. He had one bad performance against Rolly and was weight drained against Tank. Dude loses to a big puncher and now everyone thinks he can't beat a B - fighter like Benn (I'm being very generous) it's so ridiculous.
From a promotional stand point, this is what promoters should be doing getting your fighter on shows that reach out to casuals and normies. I've said it before but I believe boxing only advertises to itself and you can't grow a sport if you're not outreaching to people who aren't fans. That said I think there are other boxers who need the popularity and late night boost more than Ryan, he's already a social media star he doesn't need this.
Just generally boxing needs this as an industry. The vast majority of Americans have no idea who Ryan Garcia or Tank Davis is. Any publicity is good publicity.
You gotta believe in him a little bit. He has Olympic boxing on his resume and he does move well. His footwork, maybe not as good as Usyk, but for a heavyweight is pretty good. His strengths outweigh his weaknesses and that will carry him further than most people think. Dude does have KO power and he's very good at bouncing in and out landing a flurry of combinations.
Yeah, expect a beat down. A lot of the mega fights lately have been very one sided. Canelo - Boots, Lopez - Stevenson, Garcia - Barrios, Benavidez - Ramirez. I don't expect anything to be different here. Ryan gone through the amateurs, fought some top levels guys as a pro, won a world title. What has Benn accomplished? Beating an old Eubank and maybe Chris Algieri? According to boxrec Benn didn't even have any fights as an amateur. It's a fun fight though. It will look good on Garcia's resume but there are levels to this game.
No, that’s Americana nostalgia
Riyadh is now the Mecca Of Boxing
Vegas is ratchet ass hoes these days
No Vegas card in recent memory came close to Riyadh’s Last Crescendo
Turki has shown interest in Top Soviet Bivol v Fat Dave
why would the payer allow a rival city to have the glory instead of his own
the Americans have money right they can fly to Riyadh if it so important to them
Will Fat Dave take a pay cut to give to Top Soviet Bivol to entice reigning champ to fight in Vegas Mexican friendly territory
Nothing wrong with hoes. Las Vegas has better fans than Saudia Arabia and everyone knows this. The arena would be much more louder than in Riyadh. If we care about the atmosphere, the memories, and excitement instead of money then they'll pick a place in the U.S. But I know boxing is fill with a lot of nefarious people who will sell their soul for dough.
He maybe very well win as expected but I wouldn't be so sure of that pick, spent his career at 147, fighting a good young fighter, Boots best and only notable opponents are Stanonis and Karen.
Its part of what makes this interesting, Boots looks the part against who he has been fighting but winning impressively against Zayas would be a big statement.
Yeah but Boots passes the eye test for me. He has everything in his tool box such as speed, explosiveness, footwork, and he controls the center of the ring. Zayas hasn't really beaten anyone noteworthy either so. I'm glad at the top dogs at 154 are finally fighting and it's about d a m n time. Hopefully this will get Ortiz, Madrimov, J Kelly, and Murtazaliev in the ring with each other sooner than later.
Beterbiev had a good chance at beating Benavidez maybe 5 years ago or so. But they started at different times and they're paths never crossed. At this point, Benavidez would beat down Beterbiev and his aging body would crumble then break apart from vicious body shots. No way in h e l l is a Bivol - Benavidez fight in the United Kingdom or any other country. Assuming Bivol wins later on this month it would be a fight between the King at light heavyweight and 3 division weight Champion in Benavidez. Both in they're prime and relatively healthy, young and ready for war. This is a Las Vegas fight. Maybe LA. But Vegas is the capital of boxing and MGM Grand Garden or T Mobile is the place for a fight of this magnitude.
If Zayas wins then he's announcing himself to the world but if Boots win then it's another day in the office. The vast majority of the fans and journalist expect to Boots to win and a lot of them think he's going stop him.
I would be fine with the Rico fight if he was fighting twice a year. Dude has been coasting on 1 fight annually consistently. I have absolutely no idea what Haye is talking about. He says we won't care or remember that he fought an aging Wilder who is about 40 instead of the top contenders? I'm fine with that fight since they're about the same age but drop the belts.
The Davis brothers just don't exactly have that intuitive killer instinct. Keyshawn does let his hands go but allows his fights to linger on. I don't even think Kelvin has that destroy mentality. I'm not that familiar with Keon so I won't comment. I would imagine Keyshawn is still the best of the brothers but they aren't as great as everyone says they are.
Keyshawn did better in the later rounds when he could actually get his hands free. Albright get tying him up and they were wrestling for about half of the fight. Rounds 10-12 is where Davis excelled but Albright made it a messy and boring fight. The entire card was pretty boring if we're being honest. Not a good luck for Bob Arum and Top Rank. Kelvin Davis is NOT that guy. I had a draw with Dobson because the second half of the fight Peter Dobson was consistently landing to the body. I don't know, Kelvin doesn't have that motor you need to be a top level fighter. I didn't see the Keon fight and I bet it was a better performance than Kelvin's fight.
Josh Wagner didn't even look in shape for his fight and he wasn't mentally ready. Norman did look good though. He was mixing up patience and speed. They found piss poor competition for their signed fighters. If I was Bob Arum then I would release Kelvin Davis then search for better guys in their next show. Not a good start for TR in 2026.
I certainly hope it happens. We rarely get these match ups of two Goliaths even past their prime. I still lean towards Fury because he's way too slick, slippery and loose in the ring. AJ seems very conventional to me with a plus power. Fury on the other hand, ducks and weaves, throws punches at odd angle, master footwork and everything else. I know AJ can hurt him and I've said this before. If Usyk or Wilder couldn't KO Fury then how would AJ be able to do it? Not a single AJ fan has given me an explanation on how it's possible. AJ will probably rock him early on the fight when Fury is still getting settled. But can AJ win for 12 rounds? Nah, I don't see it.
I give Allen a lot of credit for getting in the ring but this wasn't a main event fight. I know Allen is from the area but there are levels to this sport. The guy ranked 56 or whatever isn't going beat a top 5 guy.
Not sure why we're arguing about Ortiz and Boots again. I doubt that fight will happen at all and if it does it won't be anytime soon. Maybe LACharger can find a new Mexican - American guy to back until he returns. Diego Pacheco is good, right? (y)
