Yea I agree 100%. I've commented on this numerous times & even did a comparison on % of body weight from big to small divisions & small to weight divisions that I got saved as a note lol.
I'd like to see a consistent % bump in weight divisions all the way up.
This is what it is now:
105
108 (2.8% bump)
112 (3.7% bump)
115 (2.6% bump)
118 (2.6% bump)
122 (3.3% bump)
126 (3.2% bump)
130 (3.1% bump)
135 (3.8% bump)
140 (3.7% bump)
147 (5.0% bump)
154 (4.7% bump)
160 (3.8% bump)
168 (5.0% bump)
175 (4.1% bump)
200 (14.2% bump)
200+ (10%-20% bump)
*if we assume the avg HW weight is 220-240lbs
There are too f#cking many lil guy divisions. Avg bump from 105 to 140 is 3.2%. Avg bump from 140 to 175 is 4.4%. Avg jump from 175 to HW is 12.1% to 17.1%. Avg bump from top to bottom is 4.7% to 5.3%.
If we split the difference on the 4.7%-5.3% avg we get a 5% avg. If there was a 5% jump all the way up from 105 this is what the divisions would look like (rounded up).
105
110
116
122
128
134
141
148
155
163
171
180
189
198
207
207+
You kill 1 division by doing this & most drastically you notice lil guy divisions (105-140/141) went from 10 divisions to 7 divisions & bigger guy divisions (147/148 to HW) went from 7 divisions to 9 divisions with a even bump in body weight %.
Was searching the internet wondering why the jumps in weight get so high, was thinking about working out the percentage myself so thanks for saving me the headache.
Another point to note is the number of fighters listed in each division, used boxrec for this info.
At heavyweight down to middleweight its around 1000-1400 per division
Rising to 1500-2200 from super welter down to bantamweight
Below this the numbers dwindle rapidly
Ony 235 listed in minimum weight and 400 in light flyweight
Changing the weight classes would raise the talent pool in the lower weights and may even make them a little more popular. I would personally raise minimum weight to 108lb and then split as evenly as possible and make heavyweight 210lb
On average we are getting bigger so makes sense to adjust accordingly
Fair play to Porter, no bull**** form him , hes litterally said its because he will get the most money.
Out of all the current top Welterweights he has fought the best opponents.
Hope he wins vs Spence but I can only give him a 20% chance
At least Peter is open about Hughies shortfalls. Think everyone agrees his fights are boring to watch. I watched the Povetkin fight and was screaming at the TV for him to throw more leather. Imagine if he let his hands go more against povetkin and Parker. It's likely he could have won both those fights
Problem is I dont think he has a fighters mentality, he needs to find something in himself to bring out a bit of spite and aggression. At the moment he is not fighting to his full potential.
Haha what a clown. I'll definitely go outta my way to hate on this guy now. Dude is scared ****less of Martinez. Better to get ko'd in a rematch & earn respect, then duck him.
I respect nearly all boxers and pride myself in not hating on the usual suspects that get stick( khan, broner wilder, eubank jr)
I was enraged when he was rolling around on the floor , he knew he was getting finished so used that light bodyshot as a way to steal victory and a world title from his opponent.
Could have sort of condoned himself by taking the rematch, but ****d Aguilar again by pulling out.
so I hate this piece of filth too. Embarrassment to the uk and to boxing
Not going to happen at heavy weight and is unlikely in any division that gets loads of attention and attracts big $$$$
Unless they can come up with an absolute mountain of money. I reckon it would cost around 120-200 million in total prize funds to get all the top heavies involved.
I love the format of the WBSS but it would be pointless If the top 3 HWs were not involved.
Szpilka, another southpaw, is roughly the same size as Usyk. He did great...right up until the moment, well you know.
Lol that was a nasty KO
I do think Usyk can beat Wilder, if Szpilka caused Wilder a few issues then Usyk will give him nightmares.
He would need a fair bit of luck though to avoid that right hand for 36 minutes.
1 mistake and he is probably knocked clean out. My prediction would be Usky winning easily on the scorecards and making an error in round 10. He doesn't rise from the ashes like Tyson Fury and its another Wilder victim added to the list.
Come on, he was clearly hurt, being buzzed is where you take a good shot, maybe your legs buckle but your back fighting and have all your senses within a second or two.
Wilder was wobbly for the last 45 seconds of round 7 , fair play to him, he recovered and returned the favour, his killer instinct got the TKO.
Wilder has also stated he 100% won rounds 1-4 against Fury,
Talking cr#p like this that any fan knows to be false makes him look deluded. He would get along really well with Eubank Jr and Amir Khan 🤣🤣
Respect to Canelo for taking thos fight with no catch weight or rehydration clause.
I think Canelo gets a lot of hate because he has been given the nod in a lot of close fights. I think GGG won the first fight , and also think the Lara fight was either a draw or a Lara win.
This is not Canelos fault though, and he has regularly taken on tough opposition, with a few cherry picks along the way.
I agree that Kovalev is not ad good as he was a few years back, but by no means is he shot and Canelo will be the smaller man. Interesting fight I have it 60/40
I have a lot of respect for Crolla.
With hard work and persistence he achieved more than we all expected and improved so much in the late stages of his career.
Wish him all the best in his retirement.
Not a real fighter,
Words cannot describe how much I dislike this guy. Rolling around like a pu$$y football player to get out of a fight he was getting beat in. He got smashed by at least 10 good shots before going down, pussied out that time and clearly mentally is afraid to fight him again
Its so rare to find a fighter as soft as Charlie Edward's, 99.9% of boxers are warriors , journeymen have more heart and will to win than this guy.
This is the first time in ages I've slagged off a fighter.
Amir khan gets a lot of stick but at least he has balls to fight and always goes out on his shield.
